McBudz Perpetual Journal

Came back and for giggles took pump apart again and cleaned all surfaces inside with vinegar and qtips this time. Put back together and all is humming quietly now.

SO I decided to take the other one apart and do the same. Will probably do once in a while now just in case. Now I have spare pump on the shelf.

I didn't know vinegar was good for cleaning salts. I know all kinds of use for that. Sweet! Thanks!

And spares are a first rate idea. I'm a big fan of spare everything.

:peace:

^ Yeah I know that fvcker. He was at it this morning. Heard some weird high pitch noise this AM in the garden. Couldnt put my finger on until I stuck my ear up to the res port hole. Pulled the pump out and was seizing up. It was on fill cycle and the good side of my tent was dry..wtf? Plants were not wilted yet but hydroton was dry as far down as I could get my fingers. So I used my res change pump to fill the controller and plants got fed.

Took pump apart and looked ok. Put back together and still screeching.

Went to hydro shop grabbed another pump.

Yep I had that happen to the pump in the controller, girls had to hold their breaths for a bit. I think it was close to 6 hours or so.... I noticed a small amount of droop, but not much else. I bought a new pump, I'm not as crafty as McBudz. It just goes to show, in this game everything can get you.

makes me wonder how we can run dual active pumps on both ends in case one fails the other is handling the work. Just need some sort of 2 way unidirectional 1/2inch splitter valve thing...

Seems to me that a pair of check valves would do the trick. 2 pumps running, both feeding the same line. If one were to fail, the other would still do the job. With check valves in place, you would prevent the fluid from pumping back thru the failed pump.

Come to think of it, you could probably invent one for a straw as well, to prevent someone from backwashing in a shared drink...

That's what I was going to suggest. I'll bet you can find one at Home Depot or Lowe's.

This is the same idea I had for my AC. Instead of one 25K unit, I want to change to two 12K units. I have had a couple of AC failures and I don't want it getting that hot again in the room.

hey mcbudz

So ive been thinking about ventilation

What kind of fan do you use for the HIDs closed circtuit system?------

Im tring to figure out how much air needs to be moved through a hood to keep it as cool as possible, its such a small volume it seems like it shouldn't take a whole lot...?

and do you use a scrubber, or just the ona stuff?------

I have 2 x 6 inch fans rated at 449CFM. I am sure its way over kill to have that much cfm moving through the lights. But its good for my carbon filter.

Ona gel I just leave out in the bucket and I run 2 different timed mist sprayers like you see in public bathrooms running ozium. Been thinking about picking up the ONA breeze disperser.

The carbon filter handles the flowering tent pretty well. I use the rest to "mask" the vegging plants as they tend to smell pretty good too.

Ok some updates..

of the 12 plants that got abused when I went away only 3 look like they are going to make it to the end. Just started 1 week flush today.

PE and BW planst on the left are at 3 weeks 5 days veg. They are smaller then I would like but I knew that would happen when I saw I had sparse root zones when I sent them to bloom. Doesn't look like my lighting schedule screwed up flowering though. Nothing started to reveg.

New BW clones going to flower next week should perform very well. I used roots excelerator and hygrozyme and they have solid dense root structures and good height now.. These should fill my right side up like its never been filled before. About 2/3rds were topped a while back and it should make a nice difference.

The strawberry blue (left) and chocolope (right) moms. That SB is so dense I'm not sure its going to be a mom capable of giving me at least 12 unifrom clones every 2 weeks. Also seems to grow slow.. I have 2 cuttings from it cloning now and 3 from the chocolope. The choco grows nice for mothering. Cuttings actually seem to root a bit quicker too.

tell me that cloner isnt the best thing you ever bought

Handsdown now that I have a good mix going. I do Vita Grow cloning solution in plain water with just 1.1ml Root excel.. per gallon.

Once roots reach 1 inch ro more in length I go with 300-400ppm of Flakes A+B. Then go to veg after a week like that in the cloner. In veg I run the hygrozyme and roots excel up til 3 week of bloom now. Great roots.

Thanks for the tips on the products. Great stuff PV!! you rock

Not a problem my friend. Damn thing is, when I get something like that on my mind, the gears start a whirlin, ..and..well you know, just a few hits off the pipe and my mind is off an runnin...lol.

I know that feeling all too well haha.

Some quick pics.

These will be the largest clones I have put in the EnG to date. If nothing goes wrong this should get me close to my 24 ounce goal per harvest. I will now be doing 4 week veg time. after rooting in the cloner for 2 weeks.

Spread the clones out a bit and am using the old mom cfl chandelier. These are all about 2 feet and have at least 3 main cola growing branchs each. They are going to flower Monday

ABout 4 weeks until I'm harvesting good bud again. May not be much but the batch after that will be a monster haul :)

Update to my timing and power issues...

Finally got the intermatic digi timer working for a solid 12on 12off schedule. With that and the CAP UPM-1 (thanks Stink) All me equip esp. lights or on and off exactly 12 hours. No mechanical drift and offset timers cause greater than 12 hours of light. This in no doubt led to lower yield in my last harvest.

All HID bulbs have been replaced.

I have started using hygrozyme regulary again as well as H&G Roots Excelerator up until week 3-4 of bloom. Seems to have made a huge difference in my cuttings and clones so far. I think this should bring my to a new yeild level.

Excellent bro.
we're always looking for the next level.

Are you saying that you think because your timers weren't perfect, they diverged, which caused a longer light cycle, which hurt yield? I would think a longer light cycle would increase yeild! As long as the plant stays in full bloom mode, more light means more energy means more buds, no?

Ill have to think about that one, or do some reading.

I wish I had some enzymes, but for 50 gal, it goes real quick. esp when you're short on loot.
