MaxYields' First Grow - Warlock - Alien Dawg - Berry Garcia - CFL Closet Grow

Great update mate all is looking well :thumb: I was wondering when you do your clones have you ever cut the end of the leaves off, leaving 3/4 of the leaf? Happy Growing :)

Lookin good bro. Did you get your self a new thermometer/hydrometer? Love the min max reading on those specially if you can't check regularly. That the temps in your tent? Do you have a exhaust system in there? Hope your fridazed goes well. :thumb:

:thanks: I appreciate it buddy! I have actually had that Digital Therm./Hygrom. for about a month now. Ordered it a week after the girls had been in flower. I have an analog one that I used to have in my Flower Tent, but I moved it back up into the Veg Closet were it shall stay.

But I am right there with ya on the Min/Max recorders, super cool and handy, especially considering I can only get to it about every other day :cheesygrinsmiley: The picture was of the Temp/RH in my Flower Tent at around 4:30pm on Wednesday... not that bad, but it is gonna be a real PITA when summer rolls around... Might shut my tent down and move outside when that comes.

And yes I do have an exhaust system set up in the Tent! :cheesygrinsmiley: Works great!

Thank you very much Bonz!!! :cheesygrinsmiley: :thanks: :cheesygrinsmiley:

This is actually my first time ever taking clones, however I did cute the top 40-50% off on the larger lower fan leaves of 5/6 my current clones. We will see which ones root faster, I am under the influence it helps promote root growth, which makes sense too me! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks for stopping by my friends, happy growing to you as well Bonz :cheesygrinsmiley:

Cutting the fans on clones are so the clone does not wilt or turn yellow trying to feed and water the clone while rooting. My clones root in 5 days so i have got now where I dont cut the fan leaves. No need.

Your plants are looking very good! I like the even SCROG =)

63 degrees is a bit to cold on the low side. I would try and get it up to 70 if possible. I like 70 lights off and 78 lights on.

Yeah your cloning method is awesome Hunter, I don't think anyone could debate that. I want to give it a try, Aquashield (I think is Hydroguard now?) is a little pricey for me to buy it just for clones, which is why I went with Rhizotonic. It definitely makes the roots of my vegging plants go crazy... Hopefully it will do the same for these clones. Today will be day 14 for the Warlock cuts and day 7 for the Strawberry Diesel cuts. I'm headin to the grow room tonight so we will see where they are at!

And yeah, it's dropped below 60 before as well, maybe twice when things got stupid cold here in Colorado. Wasn't gonna drop the money on a space heater and the main water line for the heater in the house were my tent is broke... All I could (can) do is put a blanket over the tent for insulation.

Thankfully they have been exposed to low temps for most of their life, and they don't seem to be affected by temperatures in the 60s... I'm hoping not at least, but they are all Indica Dominant so it wouldn't surprise me if that helped out with their resistance to cold. Once summer rolls around I'll have the exact opposite problem haha

Thanks for stopping by Hunter, I really appreciate the feed back and advice! :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hey everyone. So I have some pretty unfortunate news that has put me in a rather bad mood and I need 420magazines advice on how I should proceed.

So about three weeks ago I found a couple female pollen sacks on my Warlock, ripped em off and they seemed rather underdeveloped. Looked real hard and found a few others (which I also took off). I then sprayed her down with water and let her carry on. Well today I was inspecting her because I was worried about her lack of bud swelling... Well underneath the trellis I found two pretty developed seeds.. Pretty hard but still green.

I then took a branch off from above the trellis and broke the hell out of it to find seeds forming at most of the bud sites.... So it would seem she has gone full hermie.

I'm pretty pissed off to be honest, and as far as I can tell she is the only one who has hermied. I was wondering if I should cut my losses and kill her, or let her go until harvest and blast (my friend who works for TC Labs would be the person blasting it, in his lab) it for concentrates?

All input is appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Thats good to hear mate, I wish you the best of success to your 1st cloning project :)
Yeah i was under that impression as well my friend, after everything i have read and also seeing a mate do it.
Now time to catch up on what i have missed, Happy Growing Mate :)

Spewing mate, but if i was you i would get rid of the thing, don't take the chance with it. I would personally hate to see a grow get stuffed because of 1 hermie after all the hard work.

I probably should have made that decision when I found the first set of female pollen sacks... however at this point I am going to finish my grow. I have found several seeds on the Alien Dawg, most being on the one branch that was closet to Warlock. The Berry Garcia also has a few seeds, although I found far less on her in my initial search.... I am going to get the Warlock blasted into BHO, and keep the other two as flower most likely at this point.

Thanks for the input my friend! :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley:

I feel your pain. I just found out that one of my, "girls" is actually a "guy". :(
I'm of the same opinion as Bonz. I'd scrap the hermie, I'd be too nervous about it pollinating any of my girls.

Yeah it is pretty shitty ): Oh well, it happens and I'm gonna learn a huge lesson from it all. Like I said above, unfortunately its too late... but I have a plan and several ladies that are ready to take their place so Im not too concerned! :cheesygrinsmiley:

- UPDATE :: FLOWER DAY 35 -

Firstly.... lets embrace the coming Colorado snow the best way I know how... A solid bong rip. Who needs an ice catch?! :cheesygrinsmiley:
image19854.jpg

Phew.... Hey 420magazine! So I have an update on the 3 flowering ladies, as well as the three Warlock clones! Everything is going great... Alien Dawg is beefing up and is starting to slow her drinking, she gets watered about every 4 days now. Warlock and Berry Garcia both still drinking a fair amount, Warlock taking water every day to every 2 days depending, Berry Garcia is dry about every 3rd day now.

Very disappointed in the Warlock at this point..... was my favorite and that changed quickly. I'm not sure if it was the problems encountered in this grow, bad genetics or what but I am starting to worry about the strength of my light. I feel like my buds aren't nearly as large as I would have expected on any of my ladies, the Warlock had the potential to create gigantic colas.. but so far looks like she will only produce small finger like buds.

I don't want to make my judgements yet as there are many factors that could have effected the outcome of this grow, so hopefully after my Strawberry Diesel and Autoflowering plants make it through the tent I will see some better results.

Anyways, some more bad news.... A branch snapped off the Alien Dawg.... I will spare you the most disappointing details, but needless to say it was my stupid mistake. Trimmed her up, and have her drying in a brown paper bag. Took some Nug Shots.

Anyways, on the clones! They have all sprouted roots through the RockWool cubes, and have been transplanted into a 50/50 Perlite FF/Ocean Forrest mix in solo cups. They have all sprouted their ugly new cabbage leaves, and are officially in Veg mode!

Very excited this worked, after a few weeks I will make the decision to keep the best looking to grow in the Veg Closet, and will flower the others. If they hermie then I will know it is a genetics problem and not me, in which case I'll trash em all.

That's about it for now everyone, thanks for following along!

So easy cloning like that huh?? Just keep it wet and give it time until you see the roots! Ive recently been planting straight into my happy frog soil and it works the same if not better than the rockwool. Give it a try sometime and test it out!

As far as your bud size that has mostly to do with the light as ive said eariler. You cant get those huge arm sized colas from LED. Thats why i like the HPS lights so much. I will happily buy a new $15 bulb ever 6 months lol. Although the led produces some great resinous medicine, the weight just isnt there.

You are doing a great job with everything! Keep up the great work. I hope the grow finishes well for you!

I'll definitely be giving that a try, you're coming up with all sorts of cool new ways to clone my friend!

And yeah I definitely expected that from the beginning. I never expected to get huge colas, but I definitely expected them to be larger than this.... For me I feel like I will definitely appreciate the increased resin production more than I would appreciate jaw dropping colas (don't get my wrong, I love a huge cola) as I am only producing for personal use and only need the best effect :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley:

I'm not sure if I mentioned this in my update, but compared to others on 420mag whom have used the same LED light as me, I am getting far smaller buds. Like I said though, there were many things that went wrong during this grow and I don't want to attribute my thin buds to the light just yet. I am having Seraphim over next weekend (as he has grown under Mars Hydro) to get a second opinion on everything, as well as my new good friend Subnoise! I am hoping both of them can shed some of their experience on me!

I really appreciate your continues support Hunter.... to think, it has been 2 months since you gave me the soil mix you use to put my clones in! It has really come a long way!

Looking good Max! Super stoked to see those clones progress over the next couple months! That nug you snapped off looks pretty tasty too! Well done.

I know nothing about LED but I bet it isn't your light...Even the smallest hiccups that a plant seemingly recovers fully from can lead to decreased yields....All of the little things add up and manifest themselves at the end...Also, the final 2-3 weeks will surely pack on some more weight.

Sounds like somewhat of an experimental grow and, in that case, it has been a success. You have tons of good data, notes and experience to move forward with. Keep on truckin!

Thank you very much Trig, all of that was very reassuring. I'm extremely excited to see how all of my clones turn out, especially once we find out if the Hermaphriditing was in the genes or if it was stress related.

And I want to believe that my light is not to blame, I have seen other growers produce much larger buds under the same light so like I said I will reserve my judgements until subsequent grows have taken place. I have given it some thought and between all of the nutrient issues, colder night time temperatures, light fluctuations from my dumb ass roommates opening the tent during lights out, etc. etc... There have been more than enough issues to negatively effect the end yield.

Regardless, like you said I have learned more than I ever expected to learn, and I feel like I have a pretty down pat system to growing in this soil in my conditions for subsequent runs. I am going to make sure that my Strawberry Diesel has no problems during Flower and hopefully she will provide a better experience.

Again, thanks so much for stopping by and giving me some reassurance! :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hey Maxyield sorry to hear about your hermie plant. Definitely a downer.

.... In other news I may have a lady up for adoption soon. I stayed in veg a little too long and I am worried I am going to run out of room in the tent this week. Would you be interested if I end up having to find her a new home? She just went into flower 2 days ago.

Also way to go on the snow bong! I forgot about that awesome trick! I just loaded up a bowl so it looks like I need to take a trip outside to get some snow. We have about 7" here so far.

Hey there my friend!!! Thanks for your kinds words haha it was quite the travesty finding seeds all over my plants ): ): But upwards and onwards no time to cry about it right? However in the future (like I was telling Subnoise earlier) every plant that starts to Hermie on me in the future is going to get instantly sacrificed Apocalypto style. I will have none of that anymore

And your kindness is overwhelming my friend, I would be lying if I said it wouldn't be an honor to take one of those beautiful plants into my loving arms :cheesygrinsmiley: :cheesygrinsmiley: The Alien Dawg and Berry Garcia will be coming down in about a week. I'm going to give the Warlock a little longer I think since she has so many tops. I will send you a PM in a few minutes, as I am actually meeting up with a few people from 420mag this weekend :cheesygrinsmiley:

:Namaste:

Just some pictures of all the current rooted / rooting clones!

All three Warlock clones had roots showing and have been transplanted into soil, all showing their new ReVeg growth at the top.. so beautifully ugly! All 4 original Strawberry Diesel clones have been placed in grow medium, two in a 35/35/30 mix of FFOF/FFHF/Perlite. One has been put in 100% Perlite. The last was planted 100% Coco Coir, and she will be going out to my friend Subnoise this weekend!

Did some defoil on my Strawberry Diesel and took 4 more cuts of her, trying to get some nice looking clones... The original #1 is especially ugly.

looks great!! I use an EZ-Cloner type machine, and when I clone I just place the fresh clones in FFOF, as its always on sale at my local shop... Stupid machine has a 100% success rate so far, I shut it down over a month ago and still have too many clones.. lol a good problem to have as people tell me, but it's a PAIN IN THE A!! to water them all...
