Masonman's - Hi-Brix - Jock Horror - 2016

Yep, looking good. This is the plant in the cold environment, right? But it will get to bloom in a warm climate?

Yeah, she's cold right now. I may be able to fix temperatures this week. I'll buy a temp controller and a small space heater for the cabinet.

I was thinking last night, I may not be able to keep her small enough until the larger cabinet is available (at least 5 more weeks). I may need to take a clone from her and start again. The clone doesn't need to be exactly ready for flower when mom is finished, I just don't want to have to start from seed every time.

So maybe a better way to to do this would be:

Take clone from mom just before I put her into flower.
Grow clone to teen mom
clone the teen mom then cull her
clone to large cabinet when grandma is harvested

I appreciate all the help. I never planned on growing like this, but I had some extra money and decided what the heck, I'll build another cabinet to give me a head start on my next grow.

I fully admit, I may be biting off more than I can chew. So, if I screw this up, it's no big deal for me. I have more seeds and all the time in the world.

If I might offer a little training advice ... :cheesygrinsmiley:

That fan that's sticking straight up for now? That can easily be bent back down horizontally and it'll take that position and do just fine and that's what I usually do, but ... in the end it's kinda in the way and it helps fuel that apical top, so you might want to just take it off. And be sure to keep that apical tip bent below the others for a few days at least. It'll return to dominant very quickly, so you have to keep at it. It's nice and pliable so all it needs is a firm downward bend whenever you see it curling back up - you don't have to supercrop it, just a good bend. You have to get the lower tops in a dominant position for a few days to set some solid growth in them.

I thought you were going to top it, but LST will work just as well on a nice compact plant like that. :thumb:

I may still top her. Doc suggested I try this first to see how she responds since the environment is out of whack. She's a little cold and her metabolism is low.

I also have another clone that is half this size, and would probably be a better candidate for replacing mom when the time comes. I still have another couple weeks to decide who flowers and who is worm food.

Thanks for the tip on the fan leaf. I'll probably just remove it since slowing things down is my main goal.

I found cloning in my clonebucket is great for delaying veg time. I have kept a clone with roots in the clone bucket for 2 months before placing in soil. After about 6 weeks the roots tend to yellow, but the plant does not grow new leaves - except for the roots they stay in suspended animation.

Day 23 The Clone Wars

'There can be only one'

I tried to bend the top on the clone since she straightened out, and the stem broke, so I just topped her. That was 2 days ago.

The other clone needed water, so it's time for her to make her presence known. She's sad from being thirsty.

I'd love to keep the topped clone if I can keep her small enough.

The flowering girl will need some water in a couple days. I'm thinking straight water since she just had the super drench last.

Good lord! Did you buy a sugar shack, cuz those buds look sweet!

I think Doc snuck in while I was at work, because I can't believe I'm doing that... lol I've still killed more plants than I can count. I lost my tomato, bell pepper, banana pepper just a few weeks ago. I neglected them. At least my outdoor clone is doing well. She loves the sun. I'll take a picture of her tomorrow. She looks completely different than the indoor clones. Leaves are much thinner.

Day 27 The Clone Wars

'There can be only one'

Just a little update for documentation purposes. I topped the smaller of the 2 clones today and was fed Transplant water yesterday.

I know I said I would be culling one of the clones, but it appears I now have at least some use for her. One of my friends is building a grow room and will have it completed by July 19th. The plan so far is 4 plants. Two will be clones of my Jock Horror and 2 will be freebie mystery seeds.

Here's the fun part...

One clone and one seed in Doc's kit soil (sharing a 10 gallon pot) vs. one clone and one seed (sharing a 10 gallon pot) in my outdoor soil blend (ProMix HP/EWC/Happy Frog Fruit and Flower).

They will be grown 12/12 from seed/clone.

My job is to start the seeds and clones so they are about the same size when ready for transplant to his new grow room.

One way or another, we will journal the grow on
:420:

Edit: He decided to do the side by side because I don't have enough cooked soil for a complete kit run, so we thought this would be fun. Obviously there will be no competition...

Mason man
I'm n

my lord those are nice and frosty :bravo:

Subbed up mason. I still need to catch up. But, from what I've seen so far, everything looks professional. Looking forward to the rest of this grow.

Thank you all for stopping by. Doc, all the other Hi-Brix growers, and the rest of the 420 community really deserve the credit for this first run though. There is so much knowledge in these forums. I've borrowed a little from everyone to get me this far.

Yes, she's looking frosty, but I think the flash on the camera cheats a little by really highlighting the resin. It's really there, but looks much more impressive when the flash hits it just right. Things are a little slow right now in the cabinets. Everything is pretty much on autopilot. I do have a DIY project coming up and a complete overhaul of my environmentals.

Day 29 The Clone Wars

'There can be only one'

Both clones got a feeding (dunk) of Transplant 15ML and Tea .5ML

I have the day off today, so I decided to feed them just before they go to sleep for the night.

They're both looking real nice. It's going to break my heart culling a perfectly good plant. But, I think I have already made my choice which of the two will have to go.

No pictures today. I just wanted to document the feeding so I don't forget.

Day 34 Clones

Pulled them out of the cabinet into the sunshine to get a good look at them. Pruned a few leafs. Pulled the larger plant out of the pot to check the root ball. She needs to be transplanted. The flowering plant is at day 49, so at least 2 more weeks for her. I'm betting 3-4 more weeks.

Going to go out today and see if I can find some 3 gallon pots to transplant the clones into.

I'm wondering if next time I take a clone if switching to 16/8 light schedule would slow her down a little. Other than topping them, I have not done any training yet, so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to manage 1 until the flower cabinet is ready.
