Dennise , thanks for your reply. I'm going to get (2) 48x3w .... should I wait and ask Sara if they are in stock in US or just go ahead and order them? would be nice to have them within 3 weeks if at all possible !

Hi Denise,
Been through your log already..... Between your and others like Buckshot's (name?) I had to rethink on 3w's. Originally I was all for the new 5w's but I was wondering if the 3'w might not actually be better for a SCROG type grow. I am assuming not as much penetration needed on that style of grow. Plus saving Watts is always nice

Do 5w lights require more distance from the canopy than 3w ? So if you have some height limitations then the 3w would be better ? Or no?

My style is evolving into mounting lights at or near top of tent and letting plants grow to them, so I maybe biased toward higher wattage. And I also think more light is usually better, to a point of course.
Nothing is set in stone just general guidelines to follow and then each person needs to find their own style. A million different ways to grow some great smoke.
To add, above is why I like the idea of COB lighting. Because concentrating so many diodes in such small space gives close to same effect of one high wattage diode. For example in the COB unit I got from topLED, each COB chip is 30 3 W diodes driven at about 1.6 each. So in essence it acts as single 90w diode with 50w draw. REAL intense light. My light has 6 COB chips. They just need to find out how to add more variety of wavelength diodes to one COB chip and that would be bad ass.
