Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Yea the Temp/Humidity sensor isn't in the most ideal place but you could compare that number to your canopy temp and get a good average temp of the two. You can also program the light to better mimic the sun, like CO Finest is doing, you could have the light start out at 20% (like sunrise), work up to 100% (midday), then back down to 20% (sunset). If we could do that and get the same results as a full power mars light then it would save a lot of money in electricity costs. Of course we would need a side by side comparison to see if the less intense light resulted in less potency or yield, that would be interesting to see. And with the spectrums, we could give it more blue during veg and then give it a boost of red in flowering. The options are endless, I'm sure different people will try different ratios during different phases of growth. I'm just tryin to say it has potential. I probably wouldn't recommend it for first time growers because more things could go wrong, but for those with the knowledge and the money I imagine it would be cool. I'm not very experienced and don't have money like that so it's not for me, but I'm still really interested to see the results people have and what settings they use to achieve those results.

Uncle Cannabis was correct in his assessment of the video on the Sun lights it left more questions than answers and myself I purchased two of the 900 watt Mars 2 instead of the Sun lights. The other fact that shut down sales of the Sun series was the announcement of a Cree based light was waved in front of us earlier than perhaps it should have been either way there needs to be a alternative to the feature loaded Pro Lights for those of us who like simple not complex.
The last thing I want or need in my life is another remote control

You will find several posts complaining of the lights quality but most are from people who do not own the light just remember it is what it is a entry level light at a fair price that works vary well. I have heard of people switching them out to cut down on the noise but I don't care about noise I want to put some more powerful fans so the light stays cooler and in turn keeps the tent cooler has anyone do something like this and if so what did you have to do like what fans did you use and stuff like that

yes, gudyul, the light will also work without the remote control.:circle-of-love: each light has a protected diode, which means if one LED goes out, the rest will continue working.:high-five: Cree does have better penetration. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I have 3 Mars lights now. Two Reflector II series and one 1200wt custom flower only light. And a second 720wt on the way as we speak. So 2 -720s 1 -600 and the 1200 custom. I was a bit concerned when there was a discrepancy on the 3 or 5-watt postings on the Mars web page.
I have to say, Mars is a pretty good light, from what I've seen. I have 5 Platinum LED lights, but I just can't afford their big boy light prices. I have a grow with 600 watts of Mars on one side and 600 watts of Platinum LED on the other and I have to say, the Platinums are, in my opinion, a better light. Not a fair statement, if I don't have the best Mars has to offer to compare by, but that's what I've found.

So that's it. I'm on board here. :woohoo::popcorn:

Thanks Sara and Randy, I found this site after I had purchased the two lights. If I had read all 8oo pages first maybe I would have gone with different model. My choice was based around the primitive T-8 system I have used for longer than I would like to admit to.If they fill the same footprint with much better penetration I will be pleased. I will know soon enough, so far I am more than happy and after reading up to page 840 I look foward to finishing the rest of a very informative evolution of grow lights. I must admit I feel much better after reading about the help and commitment of Sara and MarsHydro.

Apologies for being so closed minded about the new model lights. Maybe I should be a bit more open minded about things. LOL!
Please keep in mind that my comments were meant as constructive criticism. I hope that my rants were not misinterpreted as Mars-Hydro bashing because that was certainly not the case.

Thanks for clarifying some of the new features that will be included with your new model lights. However being an engineer one answer just leads to two more questions. :)

If the improved lens does what you say it will then this will be a very good feature and was something that was definitely needed. The dimming option is really cool and would sure come in handy for lots of folks.

Kudos for offering both CREE and Epistar models. This will give those on each end of the budget spectrum an opportunity to get a taste of the "new and improved" depending on their budget and needs.

I'm still on the fence about the remote control. Some kind of way it's gonna end up under the sofa cushions or in the fridge or someplace it shouldn't be. What is it with remote controls and those single missing socks anyway?? ;)
 
Another remote question:

If you decided to go with a multi light system in a larger room is there a way to sync say four lights to one remote or do you have to stuff your pockets with four color coded remotes and try to remember which is which?
 
I knew it wouldn't take long. One of the many questions that I have has just been asked.

You got that right brother! I think my TV remote, my missing socks, and my Tupperware container lids are all hanging out together somewhere smoking that bud that fell on the floor but I was never able to find. I'm pretty sure that they swiped my damn lighter on the way out too!!
