Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I got the 400w mars II and this thing is bright. I am glad I found this thread. I also own a Illumitex NEOSOL in f3 spectrum, and the mars II appears much brighter.

Can anyone speak to the 1200w mars II?

I love my Illumitex, but they cost allot more... ($1200 per fixture) BUT, ILLUMITEX is water proof...

I think the Mars II is impressive. Seems like a well made product. I will be replacing my 1000s very soon!

Does anyone have a list of available spectrum LEDS available in 5w and even 10w? Preferably from a quality manufacture like bridgestar or CREE?

Looks like a cool hobby to get into...and I would like to help more the technology forward.

I am building my new grow room and would like to get info on what LED i should use on my grow. My flower tent I am going to do a weekly post on is a 10x5 DWC set up. I am almost ready to begin my grow. Lights and exhaust fan is all I got to get. I have two La Confidential and two lucy indica going in each 17 gallon pots. I own a Hydroponic grow shop here in Colorado. I deal with DL wholesale and virtual sun hydroponics as my suppliers. When you get time can you send me what you think would work best. Black Dogs cost way to much for me and my kind of customers. Blu has good prices. Here is a look at my flower build so far. Thank you.

Price drop! So glad I waited to order my light last! Will be ordering my 1200w mars2 in 2 weeks! Right after my lil trip to Colorado. Then I'll be all set to get rolling.

... a db meter [..] smartphone ..
... oh, thanks - i don't know, why i didn't considered this. I just was going out, to buy a physical one but then i checked this thread..

So.. i used two Apps: Noise Meter 2.4 (and Sound Meter 1.5.6, all results from that will be in () ) - both Android Apps, Samsung mobile phone

My room, under day without anything on (cabinet, pc, fridge,...): 5-7 (5-8) dB

Inside cabinet, all turned on and closed doors, 1m distance: 45-55 (65-80) dB
Outside, closed door, 1m distance: 14-18 to 18-23 (14-16 to 17-23) , depending side/front of cabinet

Reflector 96*3W, free hanging in room:
1m distance, approx 40 (50-55) db
2m distance, approx 35 (45-50) db
3m distance, approx 30 (40-45) db

my 25 years old fridge, in a small kitchen, 1m distance (was narrow to the wall), in cooling mode: 18-25 dB

Decibel meter iPhone free app, my mars2 400w inside cupboard 61 decibel, outside with cupboard doors closed 40, outside room with doors closed 0. I've got a 400 & 700 to go in there. Ear on lounge wall, I can hear buzz. I'm going to have to find sound proofing supplies. Glad I'm not only one that was surprised at sound after reading so many posts on how quiet they were. First time indoors so have nothing to judge it by. Peace

Hmm,.. i just got following message:

And thanks Grizz, for the datas. Mine cabinet is some days old, so i'm going to seal the door slits. At last, i've thought on a polystyrol inside-plankling (approx 2-3 cm additional to the 17 mm wood plank). But first, i'll wait and communicate. Perhaps there are other solutions and i'm in good courage =)

Thank you both for taking your time doing the measurement, even though a phone isn't the most accurate tool it's still pretty good within +- 1 db compared to my behringer ecm8000.
Must say I'm a little surprised it's that loud, wonder how loud the other fan cooled lights on the market are?

I am buying the "BIG BOY HYDROPONIC SYSTEM" It is an ebb & flow 6 - 3.5 gallon pots to start. It is expandable up to 12 pots. I have a large 10 x 11 finished room in the basement to work with. I cant make up my mind which lights I want to buy. I was thinking either 2 Reflector LED Grow Light 192x3w or 2 Mars II LED Grow Light 700w. Any advise?

Minimum of 2x 1200 for that size area, going by other journals of same size room. Could get 4 in there:peace:

I prefer two mars II 1200w. each light cover 4x4. :high-five:
Ya think I should rock 2 1200w mars 2 panels over a 4x8 tray or 3 900w mars 2 panels?

Thanks Sarah.

I can make the room smaller to accommodate the number of plants I am working with. I am starting with most likely 6 - 3.5 gallon pots. I might go as far as 12. But no more than 12 plants. Are there any advantages or disadvantages between the 2 types?

5w, main color is 730nm 660nm 630nm 610nm 525nm 460nm 440nm 410nm warm white and cool white.

CREE is too expensive, and spectrums is not enough. so we use Epsitar, it is also a great LED chip company.
