Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Browneyes

Did you watch COFinest's video I posted above? almost 500g from a Mars II 1600. That's pretty respectable dry weight considering only a 3 month veg time. No doubt he would have had a gram/watt or more had he allowed them to veg longer.

Lights are just one factor in final weight. Veg time and pot size plays a big role as well.

There's a certain way of asking for things that will encourage people to help you. There's also a wrong way of going about things too, I'm merely pointing out that this is one of those times. Rather than interfere with a good, solid and mainly fun thread by having a spat here you can feel free to pm me if you have anything more to say. Otherwise please think about what sort of reaction your comments will have. Take some medicine, post when you feel better. All the best :Namaste:

ok not being offensive or anything here mate but yes i did watch it
i hit 1gpw on autos in 80 days total right now with a 600w light
so his 500 gramms from a 700watt panel in 3 month veg and same flower isnt to me mate
last grow i grew dutch passion think different in coco under 4x600w hps
i yielded 81 oz bone dry in 77 days

OK so 2.3kg under 2400 watts is just under 1g/w BUT, how much did ventilation/cooling etc cost you under the HPS. Something you may want to factor in considering the heat produced by HPS, whereas the Mars Hydro lights require no heating issues. My grow room is below grade so I actually have to supply extra heat at times to keep my area above 70 degrees

I was actually the first to reply to your question if you would care to check back through the thread, I was trying to be helpful no matter how many grows I have done. Thanks for pointing that out though, I feel better now and will have much more confidence in posting answers in the future :bravo: I don't feel disparaged at all. Good luck and I hope that you find an expert with many grows under their belt to help you out, I am not worthy :adore:

100% thecelt
the reasoning for me wanting to go led is the cooling factor
i live in a flat and the full speed fan needed to run threw my 4x600w air cooled hoods is too loud:/
i can dim my extraction and intake to half speed but the air cooled fan must run full speed all times to keep cool:/
this is why im asking can these lights compare too a 600w hps and if so can i be linked to the diaries
like can the mars 1200 yield 500-600 grams bone dry? can the 1600w yield 600-700 gramms ?

lmfao self pity is a bad trait to have lol remember take some medicene and come back when u feel better:)

Oh don't worry about me and self pity, we have a mutual agreement. It doesn't bother me and I don't bother with it ;) It's good to see that you could take the comment in the nature it was intended :high-five:

LOL OK I see your point and I am far from an expert on grows OR lights.

But you ask a HARD question to give a fair answer on because there are SO many factors other than just lights that can affect yield.

Strain, space, environment, grow media, grow style, etc that all affect yield.

From all the research I did before buying my Mars II 900, I got the impression that the LEDs were comparable to HPS/MH lights for penetration but actually produced better quality than the HPS/MH because of better spectrum.

To get your best answer to your question, I would suggest asking COFinest about his many grows. In one of his videos I believe he did a side by side comparision of the Mars lights vs HPS. If so, he is likely to give you more of the answer you want.

Cheers Mate

thats an idea mate ill give him a bell and see wot he can suggest.the reason im doing this is its a shed load of money to spend on a grow room.like $2500 but if i could even get close to hps yields i would be happy
think im simply scared as my gorw room is dialed in and produces well right now
sadly the noise from the full speed fans cant go on much more as nieghbours are about to go mad lmfao

Talking of penetration here is a test I did for my journal, maybe it will give you some idea:

OK so yesterday I managed to get a few pictures of the Lux meter thanks to the help of my lovely assistant (her indoors ). I'm still uncertain as to whether the results prove anything conclusively but maybe when I have them up in order here I'll see a little more clearly. One thing I noticed is that one of the reflectors seems to be brighter than the other, but that could be due to the height they're hanging (less foliage in the way higher up). Anyway enough rambling and here are some pics :)

OK so looking at that I see that at 24" and above the 1600w is in front on LUX readings by a fair old way, but and here's the funny thing, at 30" below the reflectors actually have the higher LUX reading. So from what I'm seeing it looks like for lanky plants the reflector series may be better for penetration below, but how much growth will 4360-4410 lux actually give? Whereas the 30200-30600 lux on the 1600w vs the 11800-14190 lux at 18" would probably mean for scrog the 1600w will blow the reflectors away. If anyone has any thoughts feel free to jump in. All the best

I hear ya Mate.

I went with the 900 as it was slightly larger than required for my 3'6" by 3'6" space and wanted to try them out. If I can yield 400+ grams in there under the LED I will be quite happy. The light draws 480w and I have about 200watts of fans for circulation and fresh air intake. I know that is only slightly better than .5g/w but for my first grow, I will be pleased.

But I won't know until mid to late august as these girls are just starting their 2nd week of flower.

i dont tend to inculde my fans in with the gpw im looking for only lights
if u can get 400gramms from a 480w led panel on ure first grow would be great
i remember my first grow.600w light and got about 6 ounce lol
still loved smoking threw it tho

:passitleft: High Browneyes and I'm not used to the British dryness either so take it easy on me and I am only trying to help.... I grow under both all the reflector light the 48x3w, 96x3w and 144x5w and I also grow under 2 Mars II 400's vs using just one Mars II 800 because you can move them around for better coverage IMO this way but anyhow... You are more than welcome to check my journal as it is over 500 pages long and has from beginning to finish with all final weights of about 4 grows... Again I know it is not exactly what you are asking for but you will see until recently I didn't even have an exhaust fan at all and never had an issue.... I have never grown under anything but LED but I know there is not near the heat issue nor do you have to replace expensive bulbs or run any type of ballast.... I have gotten over a gram per actual watt on several plants and on some not... I got 3.2 ounces off a auto Pineapple Express under a 48x3w reflector but some have been far less.... as stated above it has so many other factors... and how you grow is the largest one.... I love my lights and have gotten over 20 of them from Sara over the last 2 years and I have not had a single problem with one of them and the customer service is beyond reproach.... I hope that helps you in some way and if you do decide to go with M-H I think you will be pleased.....:circle-of-love:
