Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Looking forward to that, i ordered Mars II 400w, 70W, 900W, 144x5W and Sun Series, will test them all, we will see which one will do best .-) Also will compare to present 4x200 COB that we have in shop now...

def interested in those cree lights!! hmmmm, maybe for my 10 x 10 this fall?? (was planning on 4 1600's for that tent) so we will see how they do...or maybe I could be one of those lucky testers....:circle-of-love:

Hi Sara, I received my Mars II 1200 late last week. It looks impressive - very bright!

I've set it up in my tent and it's been going for about 3 days now on 18/6 light cycle with max temps in the tent at 23 degrees celcius.

It seems to have developed a rattle somewhere though. I am not sure if it is the bearings in the light, or something like the ratchet hangers vibrating that is causing it.

I am not in a position tonight to take the entire light down and investigate further but if the rattle continues then I will do that tomorrow.

In the meantime, I was wondering, is it usual that you will have fan failures on these lights, especially so early in the life of the light?

Thanks apeshot , sounds like the temps in your tent is normal.:circle-of-love:
by the way, about the noise in the light ,as @supergroomer mentioned pabably it is something smalll brushing the fan, you can open and check it first.if there is still the noise after you checked it and you really don't like the noise, you can use a same size pc fan to replace it, hope it helps. :cheer:

hello every one I got a question for you ok so I have about a month left in my current grow I vegged and flowered two plants under a mars II 400w in a 32x32x63 grow tent

I have another tent the same size and I plan on buying a mars II 700 next month for flowering and use the mars II 400 I have now for veg

so I figure by the time I buy for the light and it gets here I would be ready to harvest and would want to start a new grow and use one of the tents to dry my harvest

ok this is what I wanted to ask is if I should just start vegging my next grow under the mars II 700 or should I just start them under the 400 and wait until they are ready to go under the 700 because one tent will be drying my harvest so I wont be able to use both tents and both lights right away anyway

sorry for the rant I tried to explain it as well as I could tell me what you think

here is a pic of the plants i have growing now

First off your girls are lovely... Now to your question... I'm not sure why you have to use your tent for drying but I'm sure you have a plan and know what you are doing but I certainly would use the lower wattage unit to veg under then up to the higher for bloom.... #1 that's a lot of light for babies and a perfect light for veg'ing but I would think if you are going to change lights to bloom you would need to move up in power not down.....:circle-of-love:

Its reflector 150w, i asked if possible to change it for mars-hydro 400w and pay difference above but since it was a gift Sophia(seller)couldn't do that.

Thinking now for using it inbetween pregrow- growstage or maybe experimental plant and make a small growbox for it. :smokin:

So must order a 3rd light, mars-hydro 400w or wait for the reflector 96x5w series(available soon?)

sorry ganjazz,i was not be responsible for the activity of sending lights,so, i couldn't help you.
:circle-of-love::Namaste:by the way, just email me when you need your 3rd light.:cheer:

Hi Sara, thanks for your reply.

I am not an overly technical person and I am a little worried that I could damage something in the light (or myself) if I take it apart, but something needs to be done about it, so I suppose I will have to attempt to do this myself. I can't afford to take the unit to a qualified electrician at extra expense to me and especially seeing as it is still in the warranty period and not even a week old.

To be honest I am a little disappointed that I should have to pull it apart myself at all, let alone so soon after buying it and paying over AU$550 for it.

EDIT:

Also, when you say:

if there is still the noise after you checked it and you really don't like the noise, you can use a same size pc fan to replace it

Does this mean that you are expecting me to source the replacement part as well as install it?

It's not so much that I "don't like" the noise, it's that many of us need to be discreet in our indoor gardening, and simply can't have a loud vibrating/whirring noise coming from within a room behind a closed door.

My 1200 is about 6 months without a peep...

Personally I would just put your hand on each hanger and that would answer if its one of those.. If a fan, open it up... You'll probably hear which one, if not just stop one fan at a time... (Don't cut your fingers.. !). Just PC fans, it is possible a fan lead is brushing the fans, look for that. I'm sure Sara will hook you up.

thanks for your help, :thanks:wahtoogee, this is a good way to check the fan,but you'd better switch off the power.:circle-of-love::Namaste:

As part of there warranty they should be able to send you any replacement parts you need to replace it if you can do it yourself as it is the fastest way to get everything in working order. If not you are also able to contact mars and you can send it in for repair and it can take awhile to ship to them and then ship back. I'm not sure how mars does it but most other companies will pay reimburse you the shipping fee for the first year and you'll have to pay shipping the second year.

This is the same warranty most led companies have, advanced led, kind led, area 51... so we are just letting you know of options for you to be able to get this fixes asap friend. I hope you get your light working so your lady's.can get the light you need

hi apeshot,if you love the mars but just don't like the noise, as i mentioned you can use a better same size pc fan to replace it, it will help lower the noise.:cheer::Namaste:

Well curiosity (and the fact that the noise is a concern for me for stealth reasons) got the better of me and I called someone in to help me take the light down tonight to diagnose where the noise is coming from, and it's clearly coming from the Mars Hydro.
This is potentially disastrous as I have just transferred many $$ worth of plants under the light and can't afford to be without a light source, but the noise is almost too loud that I need to switch the light off.
Sara, can you please advise me on what I should do here? The Mars Hydro seems like an excellent light but I am in a very difficult spot here because I simply cannot have a light that makes this much noise. It has developed since I have been using it as it did not make this noise when I first tested it, and it is getting progressively worse.

thanks, supergroomer;you're really good at finding out problem and solving problem, thumb:
Wahtoogee is right. Open her up. It is very easy. If it wasn't making noise when you got it, it is probably something simple like a wire brushing the fan. The other day I opened up my flower tent and was messing around when my 900 starting making an odd sound. A tag I never removed from my ratchet was poking into the fan and it was like a baseball card in the spokes of the wheel. Removed the tag, no more noise. :peace:

hi DrVoo, don't worry, I will check the emails. if you still not receive the eamils , you can resend to me, thanks:Namaste:
Hi Sara,
i just made order for several lights, nobody answering my emails.....Can you check it please...

thank you help me ,supergroomer, :circle-of-love::thanks:
It is about midnight over there. You should get a response this evening. Sara usually gets on between 8-9pm EST. :peace:
Sara will take care of you when she gets on tonight I am sure. Depending on where you are, the lights will probably ship from a local warehouse (unless they were custom orders.) Some people get their lights before they even get a tracking number. It all depends on how far you are from the local warehouse. :peace:

But I wrote to Alva and Forrest, maybe there not working there more....thats why i wrote here to Sara

i am from semenakonopi.cz and pestujdoma.cz company, these lights are for our customers and shop.

I have replied you a pm , please check it.:Namaste:

Hi Sara - it's not that I "just don't like the noise". The unfortunate fact is that it is too loud for the light to be used stealthily. And it wasn't there when I first tested the light, which means that something has changed and it has gotten worse.

I appreciate everyone's help. But at the moment I feel like I'm being brushed off and told the problem is me "not liking" the noise, when in fact it is clearly a problem (fault) with the light that I purchased.

I don't think that it is acceptable that I am being told that I should now have to go out and research, buy and install a "better same size PC fan" when I paid for good money (yes these lights are cheaper than the competition but still cost me over $500) for the light and it isn't even a week old and has developed a fault.

Yes, I did love the light when it was functioning as it should be, but at the moment I am not loving the light, and the same goes for the service I am receiving after experiencing this problem with it.

She posted a few post back that she had not been able to get to all the post as she normally does but would reply this evening.... She is very good at answering every single post and rarely misses one but apparently they were quite busy on their Monday this week but I'm sure she will answer you this evening when she gets here... Normally about 8 or 9pm as super said......:circle-of-love:

Thank you dennise, :circle-of-love:you understand me so much, :Namaste::thanks:
