Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Are there any new LED products that you are looking to test Sara?

we do not have now, if we have, we will post here. BTW, I am ready to ship UFO to the customers who order COB from us. I will ship out tomorrow. Jon, your lights will be shipped out tomorrow too. :circle-of-love:

Thank you for your response Sara, I just sent you an email with some questions and requesting a price and light availability list. Look forward to hearing from you!

i am planning on starting to grow next spring. i am down to two lighting options, either 1 of the 240x5watt or 2 of the 140x5w. Sara says the 240x5w will have better penetration, but why? Any input is greatly appreciated :)

I think it depends on how much are you are trying to cover. If it's more area then 2 of the 140s would be good. If it's not the 240 would be better.

Btw my 240x5w is killing it on my veg right now! My leaves are HUGE and they are still babies. I mean they look oversized for how small the plants are. Also the node spacing is just so close together and I'm doing Sour D which the pheno type I have is a very tall and lanky strain so it's amazing how different it's making the veg. Loving it for veg so far. Can't wait to get some of them into action for flower!

So I was ready to buy (2) of the new 175 watt area 51 lights, then I came
across this thread.

I emailed Sara and I can get the 240 x 5 light for approx. 60% the cost of 2 area 51's.

My main concern Is I see these lights do not have reflectors, but they seem to draw about
530 watts so that is some nice LED power for sure.

Those of you who have used the 240 x 5 lights would you buy one again?

Especially want to hear from those that have flowered as this is the main
reason I will use this light.

Thanks for any info.

Yes I would buy one again and fully plan on it :) I liked my 240x5w enough that I went and ordered their 96x3w for my veg tent. I have a couple friends that are watching my current grow very closely and will order some if they like what they see at the end of the day. I'm more than sure they'll be ordering lights. Feel free to pop by my thread and check them out, they're just starting to put on a show.

Hey Sara, Thank you for your reply via email. I am still somewhat interested in the possibilities of your lights and have a few more questions. I figured I would type them here so that others can see the answers as well.

I am curious why your lights are more expensive on your website than those which are listed on Ebay or Alibaba from your company?

I also am still curious about what exact wavelengths are used to make your lights..."430-475nm, 620-630nm, 660nm, 730nm and white (Bloom)" is what is mentioned but what LED wavelengths make up this blend?

I also wanted to know do these lights have a Daisy Chain feature where multiple lights can be linked together?

On your website the wavelengths list this:"
430-475nm, 620-630nm, 660nm and white (Veg)
430-475nm, 620-630nm, 660nm, 730nm and white (Bloom)

Does this mean that the lights have 2 modes?

What is the color temp of the whites used? 2700k, 3500k 5000k, 6500k or a combo?

You list that the blue range on the LEDs is 430-475nm and this is made up of two different LED's. What wavelengths are used in the blue?

Why no UV spectrum <400nm? Can they be added?

Can the lights be customized per request? such as different LED combinations, and additional LED chip requests? and if so, what is the additional cost. If so I would want to add UV 380nm, a few violet in the 410nm region, a couple aqua/indigo chips in the 480-520 range, some Far Red in the 680-690nm range as well as would love to see some Cree LMH2 Chips in the 4000k and 3000k range. Is this possible and how much are custom light specs?

Do you have any COB/5W led combos, where both COB chips and standard either 3w or 5w chips are also used?

Do you have any measurement results of radiospectrometer graphs/results or your products?

Do you have any Par/UMol readings of the light output at different heights and also at different areas in the light footprint?

Thank you Sara for your help and I look forward to your reply :)

Great video Jon.

Couple things - what is the name of the plant that you said is better than Big Bud? You said it smokes better, better flavor and at least as good of yield. I just couldn't catch the name.

Have you ever done a video showing as you actually super crop a plant? I would really enjoy watching you do that especially because you mentioned that you are pretty strong with it and even twist it to keep it down.

I can't wait for the new lights to come in from TopLED that you will be testing. I think it is going to be quite the show.

Thanks Output:Namaste:Its Black Domina from Sensei seeds, both phenos I got are very big yielders, im expecting a pd each of the 3 in that vid.
I ve never done a vid like that but I can if you like, its going to be a few weeks before I do it again, probably to that purple kush that im thinking about adding to the second zone with 3 8 Ball kush, I ll post the vid in my journal when I do it bro:)

Thanks for the info, regarding the 240x5 light, I plan to end up with (4) medium sized plants, and
I don't ever plan to have more than 6 medium sized plants flowering under this lamp.

Is this light possibly larger than I need? My ceilings are 7' so my plants wont be huge.
