Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I know on their site it says 7:blushsmile:1 as far as red, white/orange, and blue. I was thinking the same thing as far as using a few high power CFL's as supplemental white in the room too. Not sure if I'll need to. Right now I'm only using the 240x5w Mars II for vegging and it's doing great for that, but flowering is a whole other ball game.
Hello EyeDoolt,

You are right. The wavelenghts used in their Mars II units are:

430-440nM purple
450-475nM blue
610nM orange
620-630nM red
650-660nM deep red
720-730nM ir

I do not know if I am allowed to tell you their ratio. But there has been posted some pictures of the light panels where you can calculate their ratio.

There are plenty, in fact two just posted. Look around, a ton of info on this site for those wanting to spend the time to dig.

Hi Crawdaddy,

Would you happend to be one of those two? If so would you mean sharing this info? I don't mean to be rude, but I am new to this forums, and it seems confusing to me to be doing searches on such a specific matter. :scratchinghead:

I just started with my Top LED so no real info yet, but that it bright...

Look in the sigs, for journals....BigIrishDoode and Curso have finished plants under the MARS. This thread is nothing compared to grow journals for info.

Thanks buddy, If i ever do get the time to read over 50+ x 2 pages again I will. lol ^^ If BID and Curso would mind revealing their g/w I would appriciate it. :high-five:I mean you ought to be able to know to some point how the product you are about to buy will peform before you make the final descision. Am I right? :blunt:

Well my harvest wasn't a "full" led harvest. I finished my last round of plants with the 240x5w and got 22.7 zips, I started them under 600w hps and replaced it about half wayish through (this is in a 4x4 area). It finished them really, really nice. My current round is blooming like mad. I'll do my best to post some pics of the current plants tomorrow sometime. I also have the 96x3w in my veg tent it's vegging my little suckers beautifully. Nevertheless I have been very happy with my MarsII as of right now, I have nothing but good things to say about either of my Top Led panels.

i got about .65 gpw (no stems and a very close manicure) now that was on 6 very small plants 4 from seed no topping training nothing and only 2 weeks veg,in small 1 gallon pots smartpots and high brix style growing,(high brix should be done in larger pots i'd say 3 gal absolute minimum 7 is best, the meds were the most potent frosty i have ever grown so 3 zips in 10 weeks is pretty good in my book especially considering the potency was like 1 gram of the led bud lasted as long as 3 of my typical stuff under hps, hope that helps, soon i will do 1 plant with a 2 month veg and lots of topping and training to see what i can do for yield, i think 1gpw is very possible, if thats your thing, im just a med grower quality is my main focus

Jon I don't believe the Mars II 240x5w that I have has any green LED's in it? Or it something i'm not seeing? I can see what you mean about some more whites though.
Yep your right,I could of swore I saw a diagram with 4 green led's in it somewhere, must of been baked lol sorry for the confusion, could also be my boys green reflector style TopLed panels too:)

Jon would you happend to know the difference between the pure white and the cool white ?
I did a little research and as far as i can tell 6500k~7500k would peak in the blue wavelenghts. I found this info at some other forum. You might wanna check it out:

"there IS a relationship between a colour temperature and the peak wavelength in its spectrum. It's called Wien's law.

Wavelength (nanometers) = 3,000,000 / Col temp (Kelvin).

So at 4,500K, the peak wavelength is 666nm (red) at 6,000K the peak wavelength is 500nm (bluish green) and at 7,500K the peak wavelength is 400nm (deep blue)"

Ok, given 'weins law', and knowing the wavelengths that chlorophyll A and B function at, we can figure out the best color bulb to use

Chlorophyll A: absorption peaks at ~440 nanometers (blue) and ~660 (red)
440 nanometers = 3,000,000 / 6,818K
660 nanometers = 3,000,000 / 4,545K

Chlorophyll B: absortion peaks at ~470 nanometers (blue) and ~640 (red)
470 nanometers = 3,000,000 / 6,382K
640 nanometers = 3,000,000 / 4,687K

Mine have vegged beautifully under the Mars II 140x5w. I will be flipping them in the next week (tomorrow is 5 weeks from seed). I'm excited to see how the quality is as I'm mildly indifferent this grow regarding yield. I even caved in and ordered a set of C-Vaults this evening as I want to do everything I can to help the quality aspect. <fingers-crossed>

I'm pretty sure you're going to be pleasantly surprised when they start to bloom. I really like opening my tent and seeing the daily progress, cause it happens daily it seems with these lights. At least in my experience with my panel.

Yep its happening daily for me too bro, every day I walk in there and say Holy SH*T!!! I swear the nugs are close to doubling in size right now, I should of switched to soil along time ago:)

yes, you are right crawdaddy. each light made in our factory, we will test several days, then ship out. when we test the light, we will find out the most efficient draw power. we will test with high voltage, etc.
It sounds like what you are saying is....

The factory/engineers determine the most efficient draw power for each light and use that?
