Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

It comes to 6.5' Sara and that would work just fine I am sure... Is is possible to get one in that height and 90cmx90cm or about 3'x3'.......:circle-of-love:

6'5" well that will work. That is 2" taller then me lol

Sara, something you might have the factory look at is extensions, My tent is 5' x 5' x 6' 10" but it came with a 12" extension so total height is about 7' 11". And I deeply endorse a metal frame. Mine has the metal joints with little metal pieces that snap out and secure the pieces together. The tube thickness is better than I've seen on others. More expensive than most, I paid $360 delivered. but it is worth it, I've had to grab the sides or top frame many times to prevent trying to launch myself through the walls, but the walls are thick too so maybe I'll bounce off. LOL. Dan

Hello guys, I am currently running two of the 300 watt "old model" , with good results....However, I am very excited to see the new light with fans directing the heat up..My reason for this post was to ask sarah about modifying the heat sink/fans in one of my lights as a test. I own a machine/metal fabrication shop , and was thinking of adding a heavier heat sink with larger fins, and having the fan pull air in the sides out the top..Any thoughts on this? Is the existing heat sink able to be removed from light?

If I remember right someone asked this awhile ago and the answer was no to flipping the fan. I think it was cause of the type of fan.

@hiker, how you set the lights up without hanger.

I will get you a picture of how I hung my Mars II 400s. I am not using yoyos as it's too many lights. I have all of them on their own piece of nylon cord. The light's carabiner is clipped to a loop tied to the cord. The cord goes up to the ceiling, through an eye hook, then across the ceiling to the wall where I have a cleat for each light. It lets me move any of my lights from one spot without having to reach across. My flowering area is 8' x 8' so I wouldn't be able to reach a yoyo in the middle, so the way I hang my lights is a result of my particular situation.

May I ask your motivation for this? Are your lights running too hot?
The only reason for this I can think of is to extend the life of the LEDs. It won't make the room run cooler. You're still generating the same amount of heat. You may pull it off the light more efficiently, but the laws of thermodynamics still apply. :blalol:
If you're trying to make the grow room cooler, this mod will not accomplish that.

I saw the ad for the sun series on your website. it's very nice. I like that you're using 3 watt diodes because I was told that you can get plants close to 3 watt diodes.

Hi hiker, Thanks for the response. Lights are not running hot, and im not trying to extend the life of them. I'm running them side by side in a small tent, and have a 200 cfm inline fan for exhaust. with the fan turned down about half way, temp is (approx) 85-87 at the very top of tent, 79-83 at the bottom..warmer a few deg in summer. fan turned up, its actually warmer in the bottom.. If hot air exiting through sides of light is directed up, it helps significantly. Not blowing 90+ deg air all over plants..these lights are relatively inexpensive, so this was going to be more of an experiment ..If possible, id machine a larger heat sink, with deeper fins set up for a fan to pull air through sides and exhaust straight up. I already flipped the fans over in one light, and after about 30 min decided i diddnt like the temp of light, and turned them back. I may even mill a water cooled alum or copper block and do away with the fans all together, except for one mounted on a radiator remotely. mainly to maximize the "stealth" factor, and see if i can improve this setup in a small space. its awesome to see the new lights coming, looks as though they already have this worked out, Im sure ill have to have one. or two. any and all comments/ thoughts appreciated, let me know what you think. My only concern was how things are wired up under the existing heatsink..

cannabis likes it in the 80-90s so the heat being blown downward is actually a plus. I don't have active heat removal so I wouldn't like having the heat exit above the fixture.

please order directly, no need discount code, price will be changed.
Hello Sara,

Will I need a promo code for the black friday discount or will it be on your website. Im looking at getting the MArs 11 900W.

Thanks

the size of the fan and heatsink is different, so we can not use the new fan to replace the old one. each series product has their own size:)

:circle-of-love: yes, this light will be intensive, so we use 3watt chip. we are trying our best to make better light, :)

Hey Sara, I saw you have 1 Mars II 400w with switches available, I Just ordered a 400w mars II and was wondering if I could claim the model with switches? My order number is 2368 and I would love to try this out for you guys. I could do a Journal here if you would like I have done multiple journals on other sites before. Love the involvement you have here!

it seems that light was sold to Isreal, I need to confirm if that man paid. :circle-of-love: welcome to join us Tmonz, :thanks:

Dear all my friends, our Chinese new year is coming in the middle of next Feb, we will have half month holiday then, so a lot wholesalers will stock their products in Jan before we have holiday. If you need a lot lights, please emaill me next month, and place your order as early as you can, or shipment will delay, we do not want to delay your schedule. ,medicine is very expensive all over the world, lol:) it is not worth to delay your plan if you are ready.:circle-of-love:

Sara would it be possible to talk to your factory guys and see if it is possible to get a taller tent.. I have this plan in my head and was wondering if I could get one that is 7' tall.... I of course will make your 6' work but I sure would like to see if I could make my head plan come to realization ...... And of course there is no one I would rather buy it from than you.....:circle-of-love:

Their 200cm tent will be about 6'7" tall. I suspect they're limited by what sized poles they can source. Metric, of course. :)

Sara, FYI:
Most houses in the US have about 240cm actual clearance between floor and ceiling. Many older homes have basements with about 210cm clearance. In most states, standards require 240cm and above for all finished rooms. Modern homes in the US with unfinished basements may have rooms with around 275cm between floor and ceiling joists because they leave room for a HVAC plenum.

So, 200cm fits everywhere and can likely vent out the top. A 240cm tent would fit in most US rooms, but the side vents would likely have to be used. Those growing in unfinished spaces may be able to use a top vent even in a 240cm tent.

:Namaste:
