Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

one guy got about 11 oz off mar2 700 in you tube.

I got a little over one oz on my first grow. It was in DWC and I had trouble keeping the nutes at proper temps. Got root slime. Just took it to the kitchen and sprayed the roots down with the kitchen sink sprayer. It worked and my cooling system helped.

No it is very simple grams per a watt is the best way to compare. fans and air conditioning are very small factors. the only heat you save is from the ballast. If you use 1000 watts of power your going to put off a min of 3750 btu's. If did a little research you would know this. I have 2200 watts of leds in one room and 2400 watts of hps both rooms use same model ac unit and the same size. The truth is the hps room is 3 degrees cooler. I don't have my ballast in the room with the lights. par, lumens who cares lol. The only thing you need to worry about is weight per gram and quality. if you can get a gram a watt then only thing holding you back on quality is the strain. Not the performance of your light if you get a gram a watt. If the spectrum or par is better than hps than it should be easier to reach the gram a watt. Most LED sale people like to say you only need 2/3 the wattage of a hid to room the same weight and quality.just common sense guys. doesn't anyone care about the money shelled out verse product amount.
Now lets talk about this whole led last 50,000 hours thing. I will agree that leds last a very long time! What for it. lol But you do loose your spectrum of light as you use them. now if either of you have a lumen or a par meter take a reading now and check it in a year then two then three and report back if we are around. For some reason this never gets talked about. probably because led are still new and people are still learning about them. Again you can learn this with a little research.
So if top led has a good spectrum for growing and you know the basics it should be hard to get a gram a watt. Let me ask you guy another question. Why do people stuck on wanting the biggest light like the 1200 marsII. If you look at the light close you will motice that on the larger watt lights the led bulbs are placed closer together. so all that extra light doesn't get spread out like if you had more smaller light. I you read the bible he tells you this. example 3 600watt light will produce more than two 1000 watt lights. Simply because your spreading the light more even over your plants. This is just my take on it.

LET ME FINISH WITH ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS WHAT IS YOUR GRAMS PER A WATT. AND IF YOU CAN'T ANSWER THE QUESTION AT HAND THEN THERE IS NO NEED TO COMMENT ON MY QUESTION. NOW IF YOU ANSWER THE GRAMS PER A WATT QUESTION AND WANT TO ADD TO IT BE MY GUEST. BUT IF YOUR NOT GOING TO ANSWER MY QUESTION THERE IS NO NEED TO ADD COMMENTS IT DOESN'T MAKE YOU LOOK SMARTER TRUST ME.

think of it this way: A guy ask what is the gas mileage do you get if you have a focus? Then people reply: there other factors like what kind of tires was driving up hill or down hill? was the road rough? What octane gas does he use? and never report there mile per gallon of gas. Would you think they are trying to be helpful or just feed there egos. Because if they had a focus they would know that everything they stated won't effect the gas mileage but a mile or two a gallon at most. And all the guy wan to know how many mile a gallon people was getting.

I have owned Top Led 300w white unit for 3 years. I checked the lumens when I bought it and throughout it's life. It still pumps out the same lux, interestingly enough. For HPS and MD I swap out lights every grow, but I use the $20 Apollo bulbs, and yes, I have done Lux tests on Apollo vs very expensive brands, and they are pretty much the same, and have pretty much the same life before the lux really drops.

However, the 300 watt LED draw 180w. For 180 it grows one plant pretty decently. I get 2oz-3oz from that light. The problem is, they veg slower than hps and MH.

I also recently bought he Mars II 900w, which draw 400w. So far, I am not happy with the results. For autos, both leds suck for veg time. I put several of the same strains under the 900 mars and the 300 older white model. All the autos I have grown under the 900w mars II and the 300w older white model have been very small and don't grow large buds.

I found the best light for autos to be T5 for the first 2-3 weeks, then HPS, or just HPS the whole time, or MH for the first 3 weeks, then HPS.

For regulars, vegging a regular under the Mars II 900 grows much slower than under a MH. Also, when flowered under the Mars II 900, the buds don't get very large, even for large bud plants that always give me large buds under HPS. The end result in weight is not bad thought as the buds are dense.

Wow what a great debate !:thumb:
I now have a full years under 144x3w toplight. I would say that YES , the yields are smaller ( I don't think I was ever happy with just enough :MoreNutes: . YES , veg seemed to take a few more weeks ( I like to veg @ 5/6 weeks inside).

I'll take the L.E.D for indoor ( less chance of fire ) and just grow LARGE with mother nature ( She really knows her stuff :yummy:)
In a perfect world ..... :BH: would get my vote !
I'm HAPPY , HAPPY HAPPY with any good bud :Hookah::nicethread:

I got a mar 2 1200 the veg spectrum and been about 3 week and still small. It seem like it grow a lot slower then my 600 hps. its growing and not stretching but just slow grow.

woow, so beautiful!:thumb:

How high is your light from the tops of the plants?

I used around 600ppm. I tried the Mars II 900 at three feet away. Got super slow growth, but very tight nodes. I got faster growth at 2 feet away, same tight nodes, but slower growth than 600hps.

I got the fastest growth with the Mars II 900 at 17 inches away, but still slower than HPS.

With my older model by topled, the white model that uses 3w diodes, my 300w, that draw 181w, gets the fastest growth at a foot away or closer. Also gets the best bud production that way.

I would just like to invite everybody here who is wondering about the kind of bud that TOPLED grow lights can produce to view my completed journal of my first every grow.
I was very happy with my TOPLED lights and I am convinced they are the best lights on the market for their price!

I have now started my second grow and can see twelfth using TOPLED grow lights for many years to come.

Hello Sara and everyone!

I am a very new grower and have built a DIY aeroponics system.... I was looking into getting the 700w mars II but had a few quick questions and would really appreciate some advice.

Is there an advantage to buying a flower or veg spectrum would I be better off putting up to 400w veg and then switching to two 4000w flower or will I have similar result if I still to the 700 full spectrum the whole way through.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated sorry for the nub questions!!! :Namaste::thanks:
