Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

email replied:)
I just read all 291 pages of this thread and now need to send Sara an email. Love everyone's great journals and these lights look to be a great addition to my room. Going to start out with 4 of the mars 2 1200's to start and if they work as advertised I will add another 4. I will start a journal when the lights get here. Sara you have an email incoming.

@Crawdaddy - this might be possible.. I'll knock up this in cad later and see what we come up with, though I have a feeling I'm going to loose too much vertical space doing it this way - I think the LED's on the edges will sit too l ow & close to the plants if I want to get the angle right, IIRC these units are approx 10inches (250mm) wide... will check it out when I have some spare time :D

:thanks:

@MegeBudz - She looks wonderful, but very stretched for what looks like an Indica dom, what strain and what light @ what distance? :goodjob:

Actually they did not get this way unt I started them into bloom... As for strain I cannot say for sure since this is my first grow I was not about to buy seed when I had bag seed I could experiment with. Check the journal out.. You'll see where they started at vs their pics now :)

@MegeBudz - that's what concerns me! Sorry I missed your SIG before, having a peek now!

Edit: they look great with tight nodes then something happened... could be a number of things I guess including the strain itself.. have you had any heat waves lately? IMO, they are not stretching what I would consider 'normally', the node spacing is way to far apart - I've seen this with other peoples grows and am wondering if the 3w led's are too far away from the canopy.. hmm...

NorCalRider.... I have a Mars II in a 2'x2'x4.5' tent and it has not caused a heat problem at all. I also have several of the 3w reflector series and I love them.. so with that being said I don't think you can make a bad decision here. I like the reflectors because they have a veg and a bloom switch and the Mars II does not. It will veg great but I like only having to use the power draw of what I need and I have grown some lovely buds with the 3w series..... Good luck....:circle-of-love:

I just bought the Mars II 1200. Sara tells me it's the perfect size for a 48 x 48 x 78 Tent. And the price is right in the middle of your budget.

Heat may be a part of it... part of the reason I went fluoro/LED and not MH/HPS was due to the heat factor. In the afternoons it gets to be about 85 in that room but just for an hour or so before I kick the AC unit on, Otherwise it is low 80/81 during the day and 76-78 in the evening. When I first switched over to the LEDs I did some research and the consensus was roughly 30+ inches away so that is where I started but lowered it after a couple weeks to about 24 inches.. which is about where they are at now. There is only one out of the three that is stretching a lot and that is the one on the left. The back right only recently in the last week or so shot up and the one on the right front is still staying compact.

@MegeBudz - Thanks for the detailed infos!! 85 is around 29.5c - I've run whole grows in these sort of temps and stretch has not been too bad. I agree with you regarding the light height as I myself have been reading for weeks - though I would say this height is better suited to the MARS II series, 5w better penetration etc etc. From my earlier post you will see I won't have a choice but to be 12-16 inches away from canopy so it will be interesting indeed (if I go LED, which is still looking like a better option as I can't get much CMH gear where I'm @)!

The full spectrum (standard) is optimal for vegetation/flowering where the flowering spectrum is mainly for those who grow by the old school UFO philosophy. I personally have never found it to be superior and have found way higher trichrome production with full spectrum lights.

Thanks! Kind of what I figured, but wanted to be thorough and ask the experts :).

I am vegging under a 300w reflector series and it is incredible so far. My plants can't get enough of it. Have it about 22" or so above the canopy and it covers a good area. Just running the veg spectrum and tons of leaf production and amazing growth! I love this thing!

What's the average wait time on a package? My order still says processing :(

Their website is notoriously bad for not updating, many have gotten their lights before even receiving tracking number. I know it sucks but I would not worry about it. If you ordered lights in stock in USA, which i think most are, you should get it in less then a week, my last order of 2X 96X3w was ordered on Sunday and received on a Wed.

Hi, Veon. i suggest you to buy Mars 2 1200w! it will work very well with your size!:cheesygrinsmiley::cheesygrinsmiley:
For a 4x4 tent - 4 plants, which is the most efficient LED light with a 400-600$ budget?

Hi, Craw. sorry for updating problem, and we will solve this problem ASAP.:high-five::Love:
