:circle-of-love:We know that many growers like to purchase lights from ebay, and they have some doubts about offical website. In order to offer better service ,we give 2 years warranty on our offical website.:high-five:
Why is it different when its sold through Amazon?

You should advertise that better.
I dont think its right to give different warranty on the same product just because it was purchased through Amazon. It would make sense if it was a different seller but it all units come from the same place so I dont see how warranty should be different.
If you use Amazon to gain more sales you should be offering the same warranty IMHO

:high-five:I understand your concerns, because we are manufacture,so we provide the lower price that we can offer for the same quality lights which our competitors sell in a very high price.:high-five:
Amazon or Ebay is a third-part service company for our goods, there are many rules and costs us a lot for their service. Unlike our official website,we can control the costs,so it allow us offer better service than other website.:bravo:And many consumer have some doubts about official website,we also want them to know that official website is as good as Amazon or eBay,even can do better.:Namaste:

I understand. However my understanding Australian Consumer Law states that practice is not legal.
If you sell a product, warranty must be the same for the product no matter where it is sold or through what means. Prices can differ but warranty is a garuntee that the product will last for a particular amount of time without fault. This garuntee cannot change just cause you use ebay.
I would advise you check Australian Consumer Law regarding this as from what I do for I work, my understanding is what you have explained is not legal.
I could be wrong though as the law is complex but it is my understanding

Could you explain why you dont garuntee the same products for the same amount of time?
If it costs you more to sell it through ebay, that should be dealt with by the company or in the sale price. Taking away a years worth of operational warranty doesn't seem fair.
It means that if the unit fails before the two years you claim it should work for, it wont be repaired just because you chose to sell it on eBay.

You have a warehouse in Australia and therefore must adhere to Australian Law. I really advise you check it, I'd hate to see you get in trouble due to misunderstanding. It can be large fines for businesses and I dont believe you are trying to do the wrong thing.
Again, I could be wrong and if so, fair enough :)

:high-five:Please do not worry,we didn't break the laws,we follow the rules and international laws,or you can not see our products at Australia.:Namaste:We are a big manufacture,we will not break the laws which will cause ourselves problem.:high-five:But thanks for telling us.:thanks:
Well, many customers prefer place orders on eBay or Amazon more than official website, if customer buy from our official website,it will save the money for the third-part service cost.Cos the price we offer is already the lowest which we can do.That's why we always suggest our customer buy from our official website all the time.:high-five:
For example, the Mars 300w you bought,we only sell on ebay, cos that is the lowest price we can do,can not be any lower. We sell it about 106AUD,we need ship it from China to Australia. We need pay for shipping, delivery company, staff, warehouse, the third-part service company, custom clearance...actually we didn't make any money from it.And we offer 1 year warranty.:Namaste:Hope you would understand.:Namaste:
Also you can see many companies says they give 3 or 5 years warranty, but most of them even didn't survive for there warranty years, they are here today and gone tomorrow.we are here since 2009:Namaste:

Maybe it isn't that they're shorting people who use fleBay and Amazon a year... It might be that they're giving customers who use their own website a bonus year, lol.

OtOH, I do not know if that would make any difference in the eyes of the Australian legislators / courts.

I understand. However my understanding Australian Consumer Law states that practice is not legal.
If you sell a product, warranty must be the same for the product no matter where it is sold or through what means.

Does that mean that all the companies that offer a longer period for customers that choose to register the product on the companies' websites - or otherwise jump through some kind of hoop in addition to just buying the product - are in violation of Australian consumer-protection laws if those companies allow their goods to be sold in your country?

warranty is a garuntee that the product will last for a particular amount of time without fault.

Well... Technically, it isn't, lol. It's just a statement that the manufacturer (and the seller if it offers some sort of warranty) will repair / replace / (occasionally) refund the purchase price if that product is found to have a manufacturing defect (I think many companies will give some leeway on what is and is not covered, but it's generally meant to cover a product that fails "through normal use according to the directions") for a certain period of time. They cannot actually guarantee that the product will not fail. That'd be akin to your doctor guaranteeing that you'll live to a certain age (or the average life expectancy for your sex and location).

I understand my previous purchase was an ebay only product and that's fine.
I just wanted to understand how you do things. Thank you for the explination :)

I would have though it would be easier to raise the price to cover the extra costs rather than remove 12 months worth of warranty. But I guess not

Read up on consumer law. A warranty is the company standing behind the product and garunteeing you will get a certain amount of use from it. If it does not meet that time, the company will replace or fix. That's because you're expecting the product to last for at least a certain amount of time.

I work with this stuff and just wanted to understand how Mars Hydro did things. I'm not accusing them of breaking the law or being dodgy. Maybe they are offering EXTRA warranty from the website, but that's not how they stated it. Hence my questions

Thanks again Sara for clarifying :)

And it's odd...they had a sale on Amazon yesterday that only allowed me to buy one light and I wanted two. I email MarsHydro and they wouldn't offer me the same price that was on Amazon! Then, they lowered the price again on Amazon so I could buy another. If these lights crap out on me before 2 years I will raise hell!

This why I question things. I've not seen a company do busniess in this manner before and find it hard to understand how things works.
I think more people would be more confident buying from Mars Hydro if things weren't so complicated.
