Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Graytail you have the best looking plants I have ever seen but using the HB do you think using LEDs would hurt your yield?

All I really know about LEDs is what I've read here on 420, mostly from excellent growers who use them or are starting to use them - people like Curso, BID, DrDanknstein, Icemud, etc. To a person, they say they get better trich production and better penetration, and not one has ever claimed that yields were down.

Curso grows very good produce with his LEDs and he's in HB, so yeah, If I had an extra $500 sitting around, I'd get me some LEDs. I'd like a 600 watt draw - two of those triple reflector units would fill my 4x4 nicely and give me 30 watts of LED per sqft.

So, yep, you bet. :cheesygrinsmiley: Meanwhile my 600W hps does good work and helps heat my house in the winter.

I actually thought that is what you would say...... I would love to see what you would do with them. If your plants got any frostier it would look like a perpetual Christmas......:circle-of-love:

And you're in DWC? That gives you a great advantage in yield. I like the sound of your nutes. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I don't follow hydro journals, but there have to be a lot of those guys using LEDs, too. Sumpin' ain' right with your results.

... I think we've junked up Sara's thread enough now ...

Sorry Sara!

I don't think anyone said you could not do that or that you were lying. I don't think anyone here would do that. We are a community that tries to help each other without ego getting in the way. I as I am sure everyone here is thrilled for you that you were able to get that kind of weight and quality and would love for you to run a journal and show us what you are doing that obviously works so well for you. We all try to work or play as it may be at one common goal and that is to produce the best quality with what we have to work with and with the help of the 420 community it is amazing what I have seen people do with all kinds of different growing styles. I personally don't think one way is better than another it is just what works best for that individual and a lot of times what funds will allow..........:circle-of-love:

What is the CFM rating of the fans you all using?, I have a 435 CFM fan running on variable speed controller, set low, and not having any issues.

If you where using HiD lights be 5times worse.

I'm using a 5" with carbon filter running 310m3/h with passive intake. Got up early today it's around 73 outside, opened all thee windows in the room with tents, overhead ceiling fan going, pointed exhaust duct out the window & temps up to 85 in 10 minutes. Tent size is 4x4. I have 400 mars in a 3x3 with no issues. The 1200 blows a lot of hot air, the 400 is cool to touch & little warm air from the fans. Maybe I should have got 3 of the 400w for bud tent? My veg plants are getting too big & I need to get them under the 1200, but freaking out with these temps. It's late summer here (OZ) so as the weather cools might be easier but I want to run all year round. Do I need more exhaust or add a inline fan, all suggestions are very appreciated

Cheap A/C unit for summer(I am planning on getting on for summer here most likely) or possibly an smaller exhaust fan blowing in tent.

What does temp stabilize at?

Also if no active A/C just run your 12/12 cycle at night when cooler temps in general.

To add, I would not imagine the heat output from 3X400's being much, if any, different then 1X1200. I just put my hand on my 1200, slightly warm to touch on light side, air coming out not very warm at all. Possibility have defective light? doubt it though.

Do you have a fan inside tent to circulate air?

Glenyboy, you should try to make yourself a hood to go over top of your 1200, maybe out of cardboard or some other material that is easy to work with. Then attach your exaust to it and vent out of the room and see if that drops your temps.

It's impressive isn't it robert63! I received my lights yesterday (MarsII1200,MarsII900)! They are immense! Great quality!!

I made some minor adjustments to my growing area to allow a greater airflow to deal with the +5f rise in temperature from the 5w LED's, other than that the lights are sitting pretty and the ladies absolutely love them!!

I ordered the lights Friday, i got them the following Thursday from China to UK, fantastic turn around!

I would also like to thank you Sara! Great service, and at the end of the day no worries!

Yes mate got a 40cm circulating fan inside. My 1200 runs way warmer than my 400, the air coming out of it is like a small fan heater, the 400 is a lot cooler.i had some drama ordering these lights, first light was damaged, then wrong size was sent, not looking forward to trying to get it replaced if it is faulty. Have had it running for a couple of hours today & it's a cool day, & temps are around 10 degrees hotter in tent than room temps

I don't have anything in the tent ! Just a empty pot with the temp metre. What mods did you make to get temps down?

Yes, first impression is good, from the solder joints I can see they look good which is important, it is well built and has some weight to it, draws 430w from my killowatt meter which is right on what they claim for the 900w. This light is for my shed outside, the purpose is to have lower temps in the summer without having the air running so much.

I raised the light as high as it would go to start with. I opened an extra air vent on the tent. The heating was off in the room where my grow is going on, but the heating was on in the room below, so that had to get lowered. Its now sitting steads between 80 and 83 (when the heating is up), that'll do til i get a bigger fan. I also put an oscilating fan near the window in the room that the tent is in to move that air around because my exhaust is straight back into the room.

I do have to do something about the temps of my res though, they are fluctuating between 73 and 78 at the moment, but i'm looking at incorporating a water chiller into my RDWC somewhere as recommended by cultivator, as will as beef up my exhaust fan too

lmfao most of you guys haven't even used these lights throughout your whole grow and you brag about them as being the greatest the yields suck to me there only good for veg I challenge anyone using these lights to prove me wrong about the yields of these lights

Why so negative dude! I hear what you're saying, they aren't the bloom version, mine are just the standard spectrum too which is a bummer, but they were too busy to custom make them and i couldnt wait :) I've heard adding an all red LED helps during flowering. I was thinking of trying this, maybe buying 2 of those 90w UFO's with the 3w LED's.

genie the chiller does wonders highly recommend not only will your plants love it but your ac will work a lot less harder trying to get your room cooled I like to keep the water at 67 degrees the plants really love that

Thanks man :) just another push toward buying it!

With my setup it about 5 degree difference last I checked. I will check again later when I can, need to setup indoor/ outdoor temp gage again.
