Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I still run my scrubber on a 6" inline fan in my tent with the 1200, that seems to help the heat.

Hey Curso, I'm running a 5" with carbon scrubber, big enough for a 4x4?. My 400 runs cool but the 1200 blows out a lot of hot air from the fans, a lot more heat than I was expecting.been mucking around tonight blowing exhaust out of the house thru a window to see if it helps before I put a hole in the ceiling which the missis isn't keen on. I don't have a inline fan just passive plenty of neg pressure & the room the tents are in is around 25 & has air con & ceiling fan. Pissing me off I want to put the girls under thee 1200 soon.

I have my scrubber at the top of my tent so it sucks all that hot air out. Negative pressure is just one of those things we as tent growers have to deal with. I believe Bassman fixed his pressure issue with 2x4's and some conduit clips, check his threads it was a good way of fixing it. I just keep my plants more to the middle. I only have 4 in my 4x4 so its fairly easy for me to do.

It appears I missed UPS and their 5 packages today.....tomorrow is looking pretty freaking awesome!!!! 5 x 400w mars2!!!!!! Gonna be on like donkey Kong! I'll be sure to post lots of pics of my setup and the lights on my grow journal!

Thank you Sara & Topled!

It took me a minute to decide if I liked the 5w of not but I have easily gotten the difference in heat from the 3w under control and in just 2 days under the Mars II 400 my girls have grown unbelievably. Your going to have some dank buds with all the light power.... Congrats Dude... Can't wait to see what your going to do with all that.......:circle-of-love:

Thanks, I can leave the door open to rest of house no probs, but I'm not home during the day so can't leave windows open. Do you vent your exhaust air out of your office? I'm gonna vent exhaust air through the roof & se if that helps. Air con keeps the room tents are in at 75, but if I run the 1200 for twenty mins it goes up to 88-90 in the 4x4tent.Been runnin the 400w in the same room in the 3x3 venting into room last 6 weeks with no temp issues. This is my first grow with Led & they are the real deal, gonna veg another week or 2 & can't wait to see what the big LED does putting the girls into bud mode.

I'm having exactly the same trouble! The 1200 (and 900) out my tent temps up to 85 minimum. Not really sure what to do other than get a bigger exhaust fan? Would this work does anyone know? Heat issues freak me out!

What is the CFM rating of the fans you all using?, I have a 435 CFM fan running on variable speed controller, set low, and not having any issues.

If you where using HiD lights be 5times worse.

I have 3x Mars II 80x5w units in my flower tent. My 6" 400 CFM fan is on a variable speed controller and its set to mid high in my 2.5x5'x7' tent. This keeps the temps between 78-82F. As far as heat, not much difference between the LED and when I was running 1000w of HPS...

no im not advertising anything im just trying to help people out because i was sucked in with everyone elses posts on here and im just trying to help people out

Your experience has been typical for the past few years - LEDs have been iffy - few professional commercial growers were using them, etc. But recently, several 420 growers who are at least as experienced as yourself, have done comparative grows with current LEDs and almost all of them say they get the same yield with better trichs. They don't say they get a lower yield, and most certainly not 75% lower. Your experience is rare, and that doesn't mean is doesn't suck, or you shouldn't be thinking it was the LEDs.

But ... given everone else's experience ...

Maybe it's not the LEDs, since you're rather alone in your results.

Jus' sayin ... :cheesygrinsmiley:

well first of all I am not a rookie at this I have 5 400 watt top leds and I followed icemuds advise and had them in an x shape with 4 plants running in a under current system with a chiller in a 5x5 space with 4 16'' circulating fans and a 12000 btu air conditioner my strain was flowerbomb kush with advanced nutrients my water temps in the under current never fluctuated from 67 degrees and room temps 67 at night and 73 during the day in veg and 72 degrees at night and 78 at day during flowering my ph level was 5.6 throughout whole run ppm levels fluctuated throughout grow anywhere from 300-1600 beginning to end u can really push these plants I don't take pics because im not in a legal state but the yields sucked compared to my last run with 2 600 watt hortilux super hps. In my hps run I got a little under 2lbs per light and my led unfortunately 2lbs total with four plants
Sounds like you had her dialed in. Sorry things did not work out like you had hoped...

I'm not real sure this is the place to do that and possibly you could just post the things you would like to say about your experience on your own journal. I don't think people are being sucked into anything as for myself I bought them all at different times as I loved the first one I purchased so I bought 3 more and am having wonderful success with them....
You are complaining about 4 - 8 oz plants? Yeah, to bad you don't have picks.
It would be great if you had pics but I do understand not wanting to post as I too am not in a legal state but again if you are having issues maybe you should just pm Sara instead of posting about other manufacters products on Top Leds site.... Happy growing....:circle-of-love:

well saving a couple of hundred bucks for less than half the yield do u think its worth it? im going to wait until this led technology gets better and more mainstream but as far as saying these things are better than hid is a joke and you guys should stop fooling yourselves with that said im not saying mars led is a bad product compared to its competition there probably the best because of there pricing and im probably gonna veg with these lights in future grows and use as supplemental lighting in flowering but there nowhere close to hps

With that said we are all entitled to our opinions. I personally believe LED is the way to go but that is only my opinion....

You got just under 1 gram ( .995)per actual watt with your 5 Mars2 400 running 900 actual watts. I would say that is good enough for me. That is a good review for the Mars 2.

The closet girls as I call them are under a 96x3w reflector and are 10 weeks and 3 days into flower. Hopefully will be able to chop in about 2 weeks. The cabinet girls that are in the tub were under a 48x3w for veg and have now been moved to the tent to flower under a Mars II 400 and have been in flower for 3 days but were already showing pistils..........:circle-of-love:

The tent and the Mars are new to me and yes in the tent I am dealing with some rH problems but I think I have it under control now. I opened the vent on the back of the tent and added 2 more small fans and it has dropped to a reasonable number. It has been very rainy and wet outside as well and is clearing up for the weekend so will see how much that effects it also.... In the other grow areas I am not having any problems at all. I am used to the 3w and know how to control them. Actually there is not much to control as they put off very little heat. The Mars does put off a bit more but it is easily controlled........:circle-of-love:

The best growers I seen on this site are not getting that kind of yield from just 2 600 W HPS (4 lbs?!?!?!?), so me thinks you are exaggerating a bit. might get 2 lbs under a 1000W, but not a 600W, and 2 lbs from one 1000W is stretching it. But I just going by what I read in these journals, I have not used HPS since the 1990's.

2 lbs from a 5X5 area is pretty dam good comparing to other high end journals on here.

I'm getting about 1.5 lbs under my 600 watt hps in a 4x4 ...

So two 600s could easily do 3 lbs, and yes, probably 4.

----------------

[Edit] Oops, nope, bad numbers. I get 15 ounces, not 1.5 lbs. Heheh.

So, one lb per 600 in a 4x4. Yeah 4 lbs from 2 seems unusually good.

what nutes are you using

Moi? ... I'm in a high brix organic soil with custom nutes. I could do better yields, I think.

Ack - bad numbers - I edited the earlier yields!
