I have a second DWC bucket (complete with airstones and airline in place) so what I do when I have to do a full res change with her this big is just mix up the nutes, put it in the empty bucket, scoot her over enough to put the now full bucket next to her, switch the airline, and plop her in the new bucket. Then I rinse the old bucket and its airstones with hot water and let it dry till the next switch. This limits how far I have to move her. I’m just adding nuted water for about 5 days and then on day 6 changing it out also she doesn’t deal with any odd build-ups in the bucket.

Used to do it like that back in the day when I had like three I’m goin to have to get another bucket to make things a bit easier now to pick her up it’s the wife an me an looks super sketchy hate water bucket changes but the dead has to get done ugh!!!

I am considering getting this bucket; it would let me use a hand-held liquid transfer pump to drain out old water, add new water, and easily do PPM and pH checks without having to constantly move the plant:

There’s a rectangular lid for that portion of the reservoir and the net pot lid goes where it normally does.

I just read that the owner of the company is making some upgrades early this year to address the concerns mentioned in the comments section. The only thing I can see it missing is some kind of square/rectangular mesh “cage” you could put in that section to help keep the root mass out when siphoning out old water (so roots dont get sucked up into the transfer pump).

What kills me about it though is he plunked them into FFOF and is giving them nothing more than distilled water with a dose of calmag at each watering - thats in and nothing else!o_O
Aaaah soil...... :circle-of-love:

But that Liv though!! She makes DWS seem not to far off an idea for me...although I will still keep my soil

The soil, especially that soil, will keep them happy with nothing else for a lot longer than most of us ever let that happen. I usually start my nutes when the second set of real leaves is out. I have never once gone as long as these plants before beginning nutes. But it just goes to show how much "stuff" is actually in the soil. Those girls look healthy as hell and as if they have no needs whatsoever. I wonder if he is going to try and pull that off for the entirety of the grow? I would have my doubts that just the soil and distilled water will keep them happy through flower with no deficiencies, but what do I know? I'd think the soil would "run out" of nutes (plant used them all) before then or at least by then. Very interesting. Do you know the age of those plants?
