Maine 4-Season Greenhouse Grow

Would reducing your fan speed help resolve this?

Its already on its lowest setting, so the only option would be to turn it off which isn't a realistic option. But thanks for the idea OB, I appreciate it.....just part of the battle growing where I grow. At some point I will likely have to invest in a top notch humidifier.

Have u tried the old bucket and towel dangling out
I never have any RH. I have a tent in my garage, Rh was like 12, now it's around 30-40.....
It's messy but works, better than my humidifier

I did the towels in the big tent since I had room.....the small tent doesn't really have the room to do, but I am going to take another look at it. Thanks for the idea brother.

Mine is only 2x3, so not big

Mine is 2x2x4 and currently has the light, the filter, the humidifier, the fan and 4 plants in it. Not much room at all. Hopefully the bigger tent will be here tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. Its a 2x4x5 so doubles my square footage and gives me an extra foot to play with.

Week 7.5: Had our first winter power outage and it most likely was a car into an electric pole since it happened at 4:55 PM (with no wind) and only lasted an hour or so. I was 10 minutes away from bringing the girls down to the cellar! I installed the fan and think I will let it run for the duration of the grow. RH remains high and I am now wondering if the condensation from the northern wall (which is cooled by the outside temps) and lights is the issue. Regardless, the fan can only help and I will continue to investigate and tweak. In general, everything looking sweet and I am thinking 4 more weeks on these ladies....

Sunny and cold today. Yesterday we got about 7" snow with more coming in the next week...

I often read that if all the other conditions are good it s not a big deal if RH is around 30%. Mine is always around that and I had a first grow that went pretty well. My current grow is going pretty well as well with humidity between 27-34

I'm fighting humidty in my shed now as well.. the freeze thaw, snow then rain mix isn't helping. Sounds like you box might be a bit tight blew can't get any air exchanged

Therein lies the rub....keeping heat in while maintaining a reasonable RH. In my case, temp is non-negotiable. My GH was 26F this morning...

One possibility is to move the dark period later in the day and crack the door of the box while the main fan is running....think I'll try that now.

UPDATE: Ok, I cut a similar size (as insulated door) of polycarbonate with a 1" gap on the top. I also changed the lighting schedule for 4 hours of darkness @ 4-8pm. The theory is that (on sunny days) when I run the fan, I can move (cooled) air into the Box and the gap at the top is for the perspiration (vapor) to escape through the gap. The polycarb actually keeps the plants cool, since the current GH high temp today is 105F! Outside temp is 15F. (Insulated GH's work, you just need to maintain some balances.) Additionally, the poly lets the plants get a little au naturel sunlight. Lastly, if I forget to replace the insulated door before the night my GH will be lit AF from my kitchen view and I can just run up there and correct it.

As always, we'll see....

Week 8:

When things are running smoothly I get bored so I decided to add some additional elements to keep it spicy. Today I decided to add two (2) new Diesel Auto (Seedsman) in 3-gallon fabric pots. I have the space and the light so why not?

The new poly cover which I am using for daytime (since it allows light and small crack at top allows water vapor to escape).

Diesel Auto Seeds (freebies from Seedsman...who were awesome btw)

Gonna be interesting to see how those Diesel Autos turn out. I Have about 8 of them as freebies that i have yet to run. I don't do autos but I am kind of curious as to how your diesels turn out. Most of the time I just give my Autos away.

Autos work for me in the winter configuration. (And there is currently a snowstorm blowing outside).

I have another month to go on the flowering three autos, so no reason not to run them and in 6 weeks (according to Punxsutawney Phil), I can pull them out into the GH and finish them in sunlight.

What's your particular reasoning to not run autos?

I prefer having control. I like to do what I want to the plants, when I want, how I want. Autos flip when they want, can be temper-mental with toppings and FIMS outside of early on. Does that mean I won't grow one? No....but I just like photos. I am going to be starting a Jack Herer Auto for a group grow with about 10-12 members on here. Oh....and I am limited on my tent size and space so I have one small tent for vegging (18/6) and a 4x4 tent for flower (12/12) so I can't really afford to keep an auto in its final pot in my small tent for an entire grow.

All good reasons. Initially I didn't even want to do "indoor" grows, but since Maine law only allows (each adult) 6 flowering plants we wanted to run and harvest autos prior to the photos flowering. That's a pretty cool hack if you are only doing outside grows. FYI, I have grown 5-6 autos and topped them all....no issues. I even "cloned" the topping into a smaller pot and it yielded buds as well.

How does a group grow work?

Essentially we are just all growing the same strain from 2 different seed banks. Some are growing in soil, some hydro, and some I don't know. Its a thread where we will all post pictures of our Jack Herer autos...comparing growth styles, tricks, etc and see what we can learn. For me it will be a whole new experience doing autos. I think we have 3 canadians growing from CKS, and I think we have about 7 us from the USA that are growing Greenhouse's Jack Herer auto. Should be fun.

On the topping of autos, I hear its pretty fine as long as you do it earlier in their life (I hear before day 21 generally). I know autos have come a long way over the years and growers are able to do more with them.
