The basement of the Cottage is essentially a root cellar since it is buried on 3 sides. The only heat the cottage gets over the winter is from the sun (south facing), and that keeps the upstairs at around 55F and the basement at around 45-50F (depending on outside). This winter 2x things will change...we will be keeping the heat on @ 60F since my wife will be using it as a studio and also that since there will be a new heat source (grow light) in the basement it should raise the temps to 55F (or higher) with lights off. Those temps stay consistent whether temps are -10 or 30F.at 50 f, you're gonna get to cold, during lights off period. if my room gets below 60f, plants slow down dramatically. I use an electric space heater a few days per. yr.. But my room never gets 50f. The heat of my hid/mh lights keep the heat up during nights. What you gonna do when it dips to -0. I was moving some folks to Bath Me., in the late 90s, when it all of a sudden, It got -50f for 3 days. And we had to unload a 50 foot moving van. then back to the only motel in town that could park our truck and froze our ass off, because the little heaters in that motel , just couldn't keep up. We took furniture pads from our trailer and added them on top of our blankets. Without some heat, I don't think you got a chance.

I am hoping to keep one vent open opposite from the fan...there are not a lot of textiles in the cottage to absorb the fragrance when they are in flower and I would like to move some of that heat into the surrounding space. Small increments should add up and keep a higher constant temp....at least in theory.I have 3 4x4x6.5" tents. The 1st. one i paid $250 for in 2008, and it's still in use. then 5 years later , I paid $200 for a 4x4 dark room tent, which is a piece of shit, but works. zippers don't have over lapping flaps, so light leaks are possible. Then a year ago I bought a 4x4 for $65 off ebay, and other than no side excess, like the dark room, it's the same material and i think same same workmanship. problem is with these tents, they all calapse when running an extraction fan , which makes a 4x4, more like a 3.5x3.5. All these tube tents need more side support. Make sure the zippers have cover flaps. And no, the cheap one will last just as long and work just as well. But those side excess windows are a back saver !!
Hey Slowpuffer, good to know. I found a decent easy partial cure for the tent sucking in. If you have an old tent frame or as I got a tent skeleton at a yard sale. and some 1/2 inch plumbing pipe hangers, and some cushiony tape. Tape's for in back of the screws on the tent, second pic. The hangers fit in the pipe ends perfectly, just need to cut the tent frame to size. It's a loosey goosey thing.I have 3 4x4x6.5" tents. I'll take it all...we're south sloping so whatever runs off goes into the stream or the pond....We got 4.7 inches this weekend. I'll send you all you want.
I've been irrigating constantly...even when they forecast rain I still irrigate, and we get shit for rain. I can see it on the radar...yet still, I have my doubts...We didn't need any of it. I'm cutting grass like it's springtime. But my pastures look awesome for this time of year.

Florence? That hag can stay down south...
Be safe.Leaving at 2300 to meet that bitch head on. Told to pack for min 4 weeks.. No clue where we’re going to be positioned. Was only told to start haeding south and await further instructions.
When they send lineman this early before the hurricane hits........ It will be catastrophic.
Only other time I’ve seen this was H Sandy.
