Madtabmans 1st diary with Mimosa x Orange Punch

3 of them looking good imo. I topped the orange mimosa a few days ago and she's spreading nicely (the one with the white tape on the rim of the pot) they are still getting the environment, nutrients and light intensity

This one is doing my head in. She was getting the same light as the others 600 umols but I've moved her to the edge of the tent just now. So she's only getting 300 umols now. I've never had a plant that looks like this and I dont really know if I'm doing the correct thing. I can't see any issues with her apart from the curling. I can't make a confident decision what to do with her. Lower intensity or keep her at 600umols? I'm just thinking if the curling stops in the next few days them I've figured it out. And if the curling doesn't stop then back under 600umols with the other 3. I could really do with some experienced insights on this issue. I've had a look around and there is mentions that it could just be a character traits but I can't find anything definitive what do you think guys?

The light is a good place to start.
Only make one change at a time and log the results for future issues.
If you make 2 changes you don't know which one works.
If the light doesn't work I'd try adjusting her nutrients.
I'd increase the N and drop the P&K a little bit.
Judging by the the color and shape I'd say it's a nutrient issue but let the light adjustment play out first.
Is it possible to adjust her nutrients?

I'm not really sure how to adjust the nutes. I'll have to think about it. I'm in an autopot reservoir, so to feed her independently could be a problem. And I'm using Canna A and B so the ratio is something I have no knowledge of adjusting. Calmag, wiltguard and silicon is about the only nutrients or additives I could alter off the top of my head. But I will definitely not change anything else for 48 hours. Thankyou

Do you put silicate in your reservoir?

If I get no changes after a few experiments I'm just going to let her go with the rest of them and see what happens. If she doesn't make it ill just ajust my upcoming topping and scrogging to fill out my canopy with just 3 plants. It will be more experience under my belt at the end of the day

Yes I'm using something called vitalise by Mills nutrients company. I've never used it before. It was a freebie sample from the grow shop. I've only heard positive things about it. Are you thinking maybe removing it after the light experiment? If so they were already curling before I starteded using it I THINK🤔

Yes I just had a look back. She was looking a little strange before I started adding Vitalise. But it's still an option leave ot out of my rez and see
Ok I found some info.
Interesting line of nutrients.
Id like to try them but i bet they are expensive.
Your using Canna with the Mills right?
I'd drop the silicate from the mix and use the Canna.
Generally speaking silicate doesn't mix with nutrients.
It can cause uptake issues.
As seen in your yellowish girl with the curl.
Finish your light adjustment first.
See if that works.
If not then drop the silicate from your nutrients.
Give that a couple days see if that helps.
I'm pretty sure it will but if not Canna nutrients are easy to adjust aswell.
We can try that last.

Hey @Bill284 good morning if you are around today. I seen someone post about an automatic PH reader/adjuster. Was it you? I can't locate it now. I did bookmark it for a later date. I went in this morning and my rez was 5.4. I'm going to buy one of them. And I'm just googling them. The bluelab one is expensive. I will pay it but i don't want to spend the money till I get some expert/experienced advice off someone who uses one . The simplest one the better for me and the least amount of cables and plugs I hate messy 🤬🤬

Good morning Amigo. :ciao: Let's get some assistance here.
I'm trying to think who I know might have experience with one.🤔
@Azimuth morning Buddy just wondering if you have tried the automated ph adjuster by blue lab or any brand for that matter.
If not do you know who might have used one?
Thanks :thanks:

Twasn't me, but maybe @bluter can help. I haven't pH'd anything in a year after my pen started throwing weird readings.

i don't use the auto adjusters. never been that rich lol.
i can tell you they don't work for every plant. if the plant in question is sensitive to ph an auto adjuster won't do much. if you adjust so it is happy the others will get pissy and vice versa. it's a problem with a common res.

that said i'm not convinced it's a ph issue. i notice the blades on the curled leaves are single spacing which indicates something deeper with that plant.

edit: at present i'd suspect root issues, possible pests, and sensitivity to light/heat as the main culprits. it's also not taking nutes up the way it should.

This is not an auto adjuster but it does monitor all water parameters and connects to WiFi so you dont have to be at home to see them and exports all the data as well. It’s pretty affordable for what it does at right around $80 usd
