Madtabmans 1st diary with Mimosa x Orange Punch

Hey @Bill284 good morning if you are around today. I seen someone post about an automatic PH reader/adjuster. Was it you? I can't locate it now. I did bookmark it for a later date. I went in this morning and my rez was 5.4. I'm going to buy one of them. And I'm just googling them. The bluelab one is expensive. I will pay it but i don't want to spend the money till I get some expert/experienced advice off someone who uses one . The simplest one the better for me and the least amount of cables and plugs I hate messy 🤬🤬
I use the Bluelab doser. Mine is the version without WiFi so I have to press the buttons to set it and to read the pump run time.

I've had it for three grows and it has worked flawlessly.

The doser has only one pump so you have to switch bottles when a plant goes into flower and then switch back after the grow has gone through its phase of dropping pH. It takes about 60 seconds of pump time to purge the standard length hose so the switch over takes only a few minutes. Other than that, it's very much a "set it and forget it" device.

The doser has two probes, one for temperature and one for pH. The temperature probe can't be calibrated but the pH probe should be calibrated every thirty days. I've been using their pH, EC, and temperature monitor since 2017. The temperature and probes vary 1° and <= 0.1 units from the probes on the monitor.

The doser is selling for $450± and it's a one trick pony. Milwaukee Instruments (I think that's the name) might sell a competing product so you might want to check into that.

If you don't need a doser right away, I'll put a bug in your ear about an alternative.

AC Infinity has released and AI based controller and one of the add-ons is a hydro sensor. They haven't announced a pump unit for the controller but they've got the sensor and they've got the controller so it's a no-brainer for them to offer a peristaltic pump that can be hooked up to the controller. The controller is $170 and the hydro unit is $100 so, toss in a peristaltic pump for $100 and you're spending about $100 less than a Bluelab doser and you've got a far more capable set up than the Bluelab that can only run one pump when pH hits a certain level.

The Controller AI + hydro sensor combination destroys the value proposition of Bluelab's $1200 controller and it would offer AC Infinity a product that would let them move from the cannabis world into the much larger agricultural market.

I spoke with someone at AC Infinity about this yesterday and, while he was noncommittal, given that the only thing that's missing is a commodity product like a peristaltic pump, I would expect them add that to their product line.

Having said that, the only drawback is that the AI controller is a new product with constrained supply and, more important, AC Infinity has a track record of announcing products that never come to market (their mid-range humidifier) as well as offering products that are consistently out of stock (their Terraformer).

All in all, if you need it now, pony up for the Bluelab and don't look back. It's not cheap but it works. If you can wait a few months, put in an order for their Controller AI and get that working, and then see if they roll out the hydro sensor in Q1 2025, as they've stated on their website.

This one is doing my head in. She was getting the same light as the others 600 umols but I've moved her to the edge of the tent just now. So she's only getting 300 umols now. I've never had a plant that looks like this and I dont really know if I'm doing the correct thing. I can't see any issues with her apart from the curling. I can't make a confident decision what to do with her. Lower intensity or keep her at 600umols? I'm just thinking if the curling stops in the next few days them I've figured it out. And if the curling doesn't stop then back under 600umols with the other 3. I could really do with some experienced insights on this issue. I've had a look around and there is mentions that it could just be a character traits but I can't find anything definitive what do you think guys?

As long as shes growing steadily, she'll out grow it. I've got a GDP going now, and she did the same thing, but kept growing. And i did the same thing you did, lowered light intensity. She finally out grew it and now shes flowering great.
Yours is still green, and healthy looking, so im guessing its genetics. Some phenos just do crazy shit sometimes!!!
 
So no change in the first 18hours hours of lowering light intensity. I'll give her another 18 hours.

I say let her go she'll recover. All im seeing is canoeing, the leaves look healthy af. I would give her a few days to a week, to see if she's still growing. Dont kill her man, she'll make it and probably be the best of them all. Let her live!!!!! 😂
 
So this device arrived today the packaging was great. It was quite easy to set up over my WiFi first time through a Tuya smart app. There is a Bluetooth pairing option which I haven't tried. It wasn't calibrated when it arrived. I already had PH buffer of my own so kept the supplied sachets as spares. As the PH is the only thing I'm concerned about I connected the ph probe easy and must say it's a professional solid looking probe and connection. NOTE the TDS probe is permanently connected so in my case that's a waste as I won't be using it. Once I set my app to the required parameters I got a notification within 30 minutes. I'm not sure how to change the notification frequency settings yet but the notification will only sound if it's out of the required ranges. I once had a AIR COMFORT app for humidity and temperature alerts and it sent notifications even when everything was OK used to do my head in 🤬
Another thing I have to figure out is why it's saying 25 degrees when it's a actually 20 degrees. Maybe that's room temperature or it needs calibration.
I have a water chiller and it will be nice to have a notification for temperature perimeters in case my chiller breaks down.
I'll be keeping it compared to the trusty blulabs pen for a while.
but looks a good purchase so far👍

Little update: I stopped using the MILLS Vitalize (silicon) about 4 days ago and nothing has changed in the dodgy Aniesa Scout Cookie. Still getting cupping on new leaves.
I've also topped each plant once and started some LSTing. (I also trimmed some big leaves away for air flow, especially the cupped ones (I get it that some people are against that In veg but it's how I like it.) The orange mimosa looks like she likes to be topped and looks happier with some open areas for light and air flow. (bottom left in the first image). Them massive indica leave just block everything out imo. And whether I leave them in or not I always get the same average yield each cycle. I will be raising the troubled plant up to level it out for my scrog canopy eventually. Struggling to keep the tent warm a little due to the cold weather here now. I usually run LST at around 26 in veg and 24c in flowering but it's 24.5 c now in veg at 650 umols.
The pictures look like they are hungry but it's my light. I still haven't figured out how to take a good picture with the LED on. I'll do some research for my phone model.
Anyway I'm reasonably happy so far apart from the alien plant but I'm just going to get her ride it out anse what happens. I may aswell finish the lessons she is teaching me.

What are you feeding?
I found high p&k can cause the cupping, especially in coco.
It may also be the reason for the light green color.
Do you know the N.P.K.?

I'm only using Canna coco A AND B right now. And the light green is just my camera and LED I'm afraid I'm shit at pictures.
What amount of each?
Are you following the recommended schedule for those nutrients?
Are you putting calmag in the plain water first?
