MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insane!

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

Man, I truly love your attitude...positive things happen to positive people. On a simpler level, I'll bolster you with this positive way of looking at it also...The 7 Afgoos you're down to are exactly 7 more than I currently have & six more of any plant. I am envious to have such a fate await me :)

Cheers,
John

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

Hey MacG, there's a guy I think could really use your help. I know you're probably swamped but if the time allows perhaps you could swing by his thread and lend a hand. His grow's entitled 'Mike's Soil - Bag Seed Grow Journal 2011'

Sorry for the venue of the request, still can't PM yet, hope you're understanding & forgiving that I posted it here.

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

Thanks to all for the kind words and encouragement I'll get back to each of you soon. Right now I'm going to update all the outdoor. Then I'm going to start my clone operation and hopefully have pics for you later in the day.

I'll start with the plants that have become my favorite. The Hog!:yahoo:
All three are doing fine. Though a little behind in bud development I still expect a good yield. These plants are damn near bullet proof and were cloned from my first indoor grow.

Here are the Afgoo's! As you can see they are really pathetic in size with very small, if any, buds developing. My only hope is that the grow season here lasts longer than normal this year.

Now I come to what I was told is White Widow. If you can confirm this from the pics please let me know. If not maybe you know it as a different strain? Here's the pics!

Here's the Mystery #1 plant that I have no idea what strain it is. Maybe you know?

Here's another Mystery plant #3 that I thought was WW also, but is different than WW #1. They are both sativa dominant but the leaves are definitely different. Maybe someone can ID this one?

Last is Mystery plant #2. I'm really liking this one it seems to be very strong and the buds are getting more dense by the day! You can still see a few nute burned leaves on it but the plant is healthy and doing good. Any ideas as to the strain?

Overall I feel pretty good about the grow at this point. They are recovering nicely and now I know which one are strong enough to be worth cloning. There is always a pos from a neg! :) Well I need to get the clones going so I'll check back as soon as I can with an update. Thanks to all for checking in! :thanks: Keep on growing! The more small grows we collectively do the better chance we have of keeping the tobacco monarchs out of it.

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

Great to have you back, MacG! We missed you & your plants are looking GREAT!!! :welldone:

Your Afgoo's don't look pathetic at all...they're about the size I aim for! They just look stunted next to those other trees you're growing!

Are you planning on harvesting with a chain saw, or something??? :)

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

It's ready!!! The clone room is setup and ready to start. I will take cuttings tomorrow morning and place them in the EZ Clone machine.

To bring you all up to speed I had the PM problem with the Afgoo and as you know they are outdoors now. To clean the room (after first removing all the equipment, which was sanitized outside the GR) I sprayed the entire GR with bleach and water 3/4 cup bleach per gallon of filtered H2O. I wiped all the surfaces including the ceiling, floors, walls etc. I then sprayed it with Garden Safe Fungicide in the same manner. Then I sprayed it with Safer fungicide. Finally I sprayed it with Borax in a solution of 1/2 cup per gallon and left it to dry. Borax is absorbed in porous materials where the other products are not. I also did the same procedure outside, including the entrance areas, to the floor surrounding the GR.

Now for the setup/equipment. I purchased 3 Sun System, Sun Blaze 44 (4' X 4 lamps) T5 HO fluorescent lights. They are 6500k, 46 watt, 20,000 lumens each. I added 2 each Eco Plus 16", wall mount, oscillating fans, to help with air circulation. I also removed the two 600 watt MH cool tube lights and the 6" cooling ducts. The air is now flowing through the air filter boxes that I originally setup for the Co2 and drawn by the 6" Vortex fan with adj speed control. The temps have now stabilized to 68 deg in the cool eves and 74 deg in the warmer parts of the day. Really want to avoid a water chiller if I can. At $300 + a pop it's another expense I really don't need right now. :)

I'll be using Gen Hydro "Rapid Start" as the solution in the clone machine and Olivia's rooting gel. The ph will be adjusted to 6.2.

Here's the pics!

My new line of nutes will be Earth Juice for all my grows. Tired of trying to re-invent the wheel, so I thought I would try this line. This is not all the nutes I will be using from EJ but the rest is on order.

I understand that rooting plants that already are in flower takes longer but I'm going for it and if they don't root I'll have to go get some mother clones and take my chances. Right now I feel that every plant that has survived my fiasco is a strong plant and will carry that trait on to the clones I take. Wish me luck! I obviously need it, and while I'm at it a little "divine" intervention wouldn't hurt either!:) :Namaste:

I plan on this operation until fall/after the outdoor plants are harvested. Then I will setup the room for veg/flower grow. I also purchased 12 ea 3000K red spectrum fluorescent tubes for the new Sun Blaze light fixtures that will be added to the 2 ea 600 watt MH cool tubes. Light will not be an issue with the next indoor grow!:yahoo:

I will update tomorrow when I get the cuttings started. :thanks: for hanging in there with me everyone!

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

Yo Mac! I tell this to everyone at some point. Don't ever feel bad about taking time to handle your business brother, whatever it may be. And in your case, obviously its a no brainer. You gotta work, and family comes first. So post when you can, and dont feel bad if you cant. We'll all still be here when you find time bro!

I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say, I wish we could help you with your plants! You'll figure it out though, and things will be fine. Keep your head up n we'll see ya when we see ya!

-Q

Oh and by the way, I noticed your thread didn't have a rating yet, so I rated it 5 stars. It's been a great read already, and I'm sure it will continue to be.

Mac, just wanted to drop in and say hi! Man I hope all is well, you're doing ok, and you still have some plants! We'd all love a small update buddy, that is if you've got time. Sending good vibes your way!:Namaste:

Hey Mac, just want to say nice job keeping a positive attitude about the few issues you had, and really bro, its no big deal. Learning, albeit frustrating at times, will only make you better!
Gld to hear you have other plans in the works, can't wait to see the clones! See ya when we see ya!

Yup!:thumb:

Congrats on the new lights, always nice to get new toys!

 Yup! It's hard to cry over spilled milk !:) Thanks Quix for all the good vibes and encouragement. Most of my stress comes from to many long work days. I started a new project and now I'm getting up at 3:30 am and getting home after 6:00 pm! Barely enough time to work the plants let alone a journal. I got a couple extra days off so now I'll catch up some.

:thanks: for the rating. Makes me feel good that others are enjoying this work in progress. Your the best Bro!

I second what Quix said....Family first! Take care my friend. :Namaste:

Sorry Buddy....guess they didn't like nutes????

You betcha! I've got more plants than I need, although I give allot of it away, it still bothers me a little when I screw up. Especially when I'm not sure how! :)

I think my new policy is to go half strength of the manufacture recommendation until I get a better handle on how the plants react and then bump it up. Thanks for the encouragement and understanding. :thanks: Now's my time of year to work and save up for the long winter when I don't hardly work at all. So it has really taken a toll om my time here. Glad to see your still on board. I appreciate it Bro!

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

This is it! Post # 420!!! :cheertwo::cheertwo::cheertwo:

I can't believe it's here. :yahoo: I haven't given this moment much thought but I feel like I ought to say something profound or intelligent, but alas words fail me (or maybe my brain has)! :) So I'll say what I feel...

:420: and all my friends that I will never meet in the real world (unfortunately), have given much more than I ever expected when I first started my journals. I'm constantly blown away by the camaraderie, help, and understanding all the posters of my journals have given to me. It takes time and effort to help a fellow grower in trouble and it seems I'm always in trouble! :) But help is always forth coming. That speaks volumes about this site and the people who participate in it.

Thanks to ALL those that have helped and offered your considerable knowledge and words of enlightenment! And a special thanks to ALL those posters who make me laugh. This site is full of comedians!!! and good ones at that!!! I can't tell you how many times I've clicked on the  icon. It really does brighten my day. I appreciate it very much.

Last but not least... :circle-of-love: to all at :420: Tonight I will :party::party: and take a little med :tokin: to mark this milestone and, I almost forgot... :welldone: and :thumb: to all who have hung in there during this busy time. :Namaste:

DUDE :yikes: that sux about your Afgoo's!!! i dont even want to be here anymore!!! LOL jus messing!!! I wish yours were doing as good as mine are. the only problem I have had is that I had a little case of SM problems with them outside, went out and got me some Azamax, and that took care of that problem before it got out of hand!!! counted 12 dead mites yesterday!!! they have also moved into full flower power!!! so nug porn will be happening soon!!! and once again, im sorry to hear about everything!!! but yes family first!!!!!

:peacetwo:

>>>>>>>>> pushing good vibes your way man>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

dude that scares me to look at them!!! now i have to go and check on my ladies!!! they are getting so frosty now!!! im sorry you didnt get to experience them all, but something is better than nothing!!! both of the ladies right now have gotten to 3 ft 5 in. now!!! and in full flower power!!! the nugs are getting really dense!!!

:peacetwo:

Yup scary is apropos. I think these clones came from a weak mother. Not blaming the plants, but all the other plants only suffered small setbacks. So I'm just not sure. Anyway... I'm really friggin happy for you. You worked hard at your grow and you deserve the success! Here's to you :thumb:

weird hours at work!!! HAHA we catch in a lie!!! thats what you have been workiing on!!! looks great man!!! cant wait to see it in action!!!
