Lost In The Fog

I'm sad to say the printer was busted up on arrival, don't know if they sent me this one just to get some products out for waiting costumers or not but Z-axxis end breaker wont stop the motor from going passed it and jams against the breaker. Tested the breaker and it works so it must be something wrong with the motherboard. Hope you have greater luck with your printer @TurboBucket

Will check the motherboard tomorrow and email Creality if I can't see any obvious faulty soldering.

Aww that's a bummer. How lame is that, doesn't really speak well for their QC.

That's true... this was easy spotted with a serial program on my laptop that the breaker was still open though very closed in IRL on the printer.

Friend told me he read about at least one more ender 5 pro owner with same problem and the motherboard was had to be replaced....

I sincerely hope you get a good printer Turbo...

I knew they had some QC issues with the cr-10s but I thought most of the ender stuff was arriving in good shape. That's a bit of a let down. I guess silver lining for me is I was/am basically planning to just run a bunch of calibration models with different filaments and focus on just learning the machine over the summer. So if I have to wait a bit longer for a functioning unit it's not going to hurt any project progress but it's a big let down. We'll see I guess. Fingers crossed.

Is it relying on a limit switch or something like a resolver or the like to tell it where it is?? Might be a loose wire. shake all the connectors and terminal block connections if you can get at them.

It's a limit dip switch I checked it with a multimeter and it perform like it should same with the wire. Motherboard connectors look clean also so there is something with the motherboard not working properly, the extruder feeding motor also wont turn when tripped with the printer HMI. Impossible to print with it due to it wanting to auto home and reset every axxis to zero before print.

Just my usual luck Otter....

This is the state the motherboard of the printer was shipped with. The connectors have been bent out and glued in that state, this is no high quality fabrication like I thought. Melted away the connectors with a thin heated knife and cleaned away all glue and put everything back together and now I'm printing. Next thing I would like to give attention to is the bed which the printer spits out the plastics on, tried leveling it the best I could with a piece of paper in the corners but the bed is like a bowl in the middle. This has to be changed as well for something else before any descent results can be made with this.

Check it out @TurboBucket

Tomorrow I get the new front door for my apartment, finally! Hope I can get this auto grow on the road...

Been busy with getting back to work 50% and its going good so far, hope I can jack it up to 75% next month. Pain is still quite manageable for me and I really hope it lasts.

Been super busy last 24h since I got the printer working, here is my first own cad file being manufactured. It's a prototype corner for a new center speaker to my home cinema.

Hope to get some plant pics up here soon though... I know you love those. ;)

So happy I finally got the damn thing working, I also got the hang of leveling the bed somewhat it actually flexes quite much when heated to 40-60C.

CraZy got such plans for this new toy of his... :laughtwo:

Mine came in today. The auto bed leveler should be here in the next few days. Gonna have to find a place for it and make some time to set it up so I know if it's broken

Great man, hope it works out of the box for you. I need to adjust the feeding some to get better result on the top layers of my prints but other wise I'm very happy and ideas of what to print is just pouring in to my head. Soon is first spool empty, its like Xmas eve everyday coming home to the printer. :laughtwo:

That auto bed leveler is an upgrade I'm thinking of also!

Right. I can see this hobby spiraling out of control much like growing does.

I figured while I was spending money I may as well spend part of it on something to save some time.

Like everyone else I'm excited to see what you cook up next. :thumb:

Lol, it absolutely does! :laughtwo:

The auto leveler is def worth the investment, its a pain to do it! Creality's own slicer program have some leveling wizard but I haven't tried that one yet. Best thing is to use a receipt paper when adjusting the level between bed and head, and most important to have the bed heated so it wont bevel.

Here is yesterdays prints from my own cadding, I'm going to get help from a friend with adjusting the extrude feeding to make more even surfaces. But I'm quite surprised how strong this PLA is actually, haven't broke anything yet.... :goodluck:

Keyboard legs, I now have two. :laughtwo:

This last thing is a little helper when cutting wood boards with a pendel / circular saw, the adjustable ruler is to measure the distance from the edge of the saw to the cutting blade and to easy compensate for that when cutting.
