Lootz Returns! Multi-Tent Grow In Soil With LED COBs & LM301H

Nah, not really lol. Growth is stupid slow, to the point I may order fresh seeds and start a new run but the Mrs keeps saying "but you have seeds, try those first". On-going battle I suppose.

Lesson learned, don't buy $100 worth of seeds with bitcoin, get a ton of freebies, then let them sit for 2 years before doing anything with them.

In your phone dump, the first pic, is that the image coming from the wifi camera? If so, that quality is super nice. What cam is it?
I learned the same lesson I had so many freebies and now their all souvenirs 😂

I still got a crazy deal and have a bunch of seeds but I intend on popping all of them once I get things in a rhythm

Yea the first 2 pics are from the camera
It’s a ring camera I had from forever ago

As far as the on going battle pop everything and only the strong survive this way if it is indeed seeds then you NEED seeds again lol

Or at least store them properly Seed storing
This is what I did with my new seeds I purchased from Greenpoint.
The come in light proof packs and then the seeds are stored in a plastic container in the pack with a small piece of styrofoam in the container.
I put all the packs in a Tupperware an put it in the extra fridge in the garage.
After seeing the results of fresh seeds from them I intended on keeping these genetics as fresh as possible as long as possible.
I also love that Greenpoint tells you when the seeds were made so you know you're buying seeds from within the past year or whenever it is that you buy them.
Transparency with seed age was a big deal when selecting a breeder.

This is a good idea haha. I don't have room to pop them all (maybe 15-20 seeds idk) and at this point between the germ failures and this current run I'm a bit over it. I've done months of research, writing things down, watching videos, reading articles, etc etc; they're on their own now. If they grow some weed, cool, if not, it is what it is.

Next seed order I'll follow best practices for storage.

There are things you can do to help a tough germination, like proper temps and humidity, scratching the seed coat to help it absorb water, etc.

DONT GIVE UP! I know for a fact you have the perseverance to see it through. Proof in that monster tall plant you finished in the past!
It is unfortunate the issues you've been having tho.
If you can't give my idea a try and go for the SOG army with whatever pops.
Do a few at a time at least one a week if you think that it truly is the genetics are old.

Thanks Lootz. I wouldn't call it giving up per se, but I also don't see anything that's within my control to be doing until they simply grow. I feel like over the last 18 days all I've done is spend my time nursing these two and I'm not seeing results. I've just run out of stuff to try, is all. Seems like time is the only thing I can give them and they'll decide how they want to proceed.

Besides, and I don't have to tell you this, but in hydro the growth rate was stunning compared to soil. Always something to do/monitor because they're moving so fast. With this one (soil, old seed, whatever the variables are) they're so slow there's just nothing more that can be done to them until they need watered.

Day 18

Opening the tent today was a delightful sight. They all had that subtle droop like they could go a drink.
All except... You guessed it the SIP.
Although her res was dry.

According to the schedule they should be getting a feeding. I mentioned before that there are still some gnats flying around and I would really like to give them more SNS to kill off any remaining larva in the soil, as the adults only live a few days its best to attack the young and future generations that you can't see to rid the problem.

Also, after some discussion in @CrochetingHybrids journal. I came up with the idea to follow the directions on the bottle of my myco and mix up a solution of great white at 1/2 tsp per Gal.
I will be following the directions and applying every 2 to 3 weeks during the corresponding water cycle.

I then mixed up a solution of SNS-203 at 6 TBSP per Gal.

Both solutions were then PH'd to 6.0

Now they should be getting a feeding not water, but I wasn't expecting them to need water so quickly.
Because of this I didn't have any nutrients mixed up or aerated.
I put that in motion tonight as well.

I mixed up week 2 solution at full strength.

Cal/mag 5ml
Buddha Grow 10ml
Trinity 10ml
Ancient Amber 15ml
Extreme Serene 5ml

77AD2F39-3D0D-45F5-8B75-816F2CE2D967.jpeg

I do not plan of feeding at full strength it's just easier to dilute it down to 3/4 1/2 1/4 with plain R/O just before I adjust PH
This practice may not be practical early on as there's a lot of solution left over afterward since they don't need much now.
It's recommended on the schedule not to store these nutrients for longer than 24 hours without vigorous aerating and mixing.
I mixed this and started aerating for 24 hours.

*THE FOLLOWING IS ON THE FLY EXPERIMENTATION

Long story short I want to feed tomorrow. (Food isn't ready)
The plants need water now and I would like to apply SNS as well as our new experiment with the myco solution.
So today I only applied at most 10 TBSP per pot. This was done 2 TBSP at a time alternating between SNS and Myco.

There was no runoff after going in and lifting the pots a time later they feel more top heavy than anything.

My hope is that they will still need to be watered tomorrow and we finish our feeding with nutrients to a slight runoff when our nutrients are done aerating after 24 hours.

The SIP got 10 TBSP watered in normally same as the plastic pots (alternating between myco and SNS) and 250ml of SNS in the res.
When the nutrient solution is ready tomorrow, I will top feed slowly and as evenly as possible about 1QT of nutrient solution PH'd to around 6.
I want as close to no runoff as possible and then I will fill the res back to full with the SNS solution to dilute any nutrient solution that does make its way into the res to avoid the res getting nasty or causing problems due to a build up.
I will feed the others tomorrow as well. Same as I normally would any other pot. Slowly working inside out and around the edges until I see a slight runoff.
My waterings usually take around 30 minutes to an hour depending on how much water we need to give.

Thats all for todays update!

Thank you for your time and thanks for stopping by!

Hope you don't mind me just showing up here unannounced Lootz. It's holdover behavior from the old days. I see a party going on and I try to crash it!

Catching up to here from the get-go has been my read for today. And what a wonderful read it has been!

Great stuff you're doing here. Lots of nice pics and tons of detailed explanations.

I found the DIY SIP utterly fascinating, mostly because I can't build a damn thing! :)

Then when you had to gear up and move the entire grow (quickly I assume) I was again in awe because, well, I'm not good at doing a damn thing "quickly." :)

Long story short, I love your journal and the plants look great!

I'll be hanging around to see how all this ends up. :Rasta:

Still looking so good bud 🤞🏼 you get them gnats finished off!
This one's for the lady in the sip at the back lol is that her lower bud sites already pushing through to the top?
I'm waiting for the smaller girls to pop now I know they won't compare to the spi but love the fast growth once they find their feet!
Hope your well ✌️

Thank You @Grand Daddy Black we're delighted to have you here!
Thank you for the kind words and thank you for taking the time to read my journal, I truly appreciate it!

My whole point of starting this journal was to be as thorough as possible for other growers and myself in future grows. Glad to know everyone is enjoying it.

The SIP was alot of fun to build and I plan on doing more! I'm also documenting the journey of the SIP and the clones she produces who will go into SIP's (yet to be built) in another journal. There will be more DIY there soon for sure!

Yea moving was and has been a headache but everyone is safe looking forward to better days and the plants have been thriving! Couldn't ask for more!
Thank you again and Thanks for stopping by!

:rofl:As for the lady in the back YES those are her 1st and 2nd nodes!
They are already pushing up BEFORE I even topped her!
Shes truly amazing!
They are on their way I will show pictures in my update later tonight.
It will be a BIG on be sure to follow my other journal to follow Suzanne in depth.

Day 20

🚨Major Update ALERT 🚨
I really should type these things out in the moment. It would make these so much easier!
Things have really taken off as of late.

Initially I wasn't going to feed at full strength, but when I looked at the PBK2 I noticed that her cotyledons were yellow.
I know this is normal but none of the other plants have used theirs tho. I also remember Bubba Kush to be a heavy feeder, so this may be an indication that this one will be as well.

That prompted me to look a bit closer at the ladies and I decided that full strength was appropriate.
Their last and only feeding was diluted to 1/2 strength.
They have settled into their 1Gal pots and should be able to take all we have to give them.
I was nervous about watering again after having given them the mini watering the night before, but they are in full swing now and all but 1 of the Cookie Crisps needed a drink.
After aerating for 24 hours the PH of the nutrient solution went from 3.9 to 4.5 so some change but still low enough that adjustments needed to be made.
It took 7ml to move the PH to 6.1ish
I watered to a very slight runoff on all the plants and tested what water I was able to.
The Cookie Crisps that didn't "need" a drink got the least amount of water, and I wasn't able to get enough to accurately test.

Here are those readings...
PBK 2 6.3
PGC 6.2
PGC 2 6.3
CC 1 6.2
CC N/A

I noticed a little bit of a stretch from the second to third node, so I lowered the light in response and things really kicked off like we wanted.
The lights are at about a foot or so above the plants at 100% and they are loving it!
That bit of stretch from second to third node and the lack of under branching has us very close to topping these ladies.

8C450EDA-9187-4253-A2AF-F85211E9D30B.jpeg

I would really like to use those bottom 2 nodes as clones so before I top them, I would like for those to grow up a bit.
To expedite this process, I got some plant ties and used some LST to open them up a bit.

8A761572-9162-4001-8B62-864E4490D3D7.jpeg

I do not plan on doing a quad line on these plants.
I want to top and shape them accordingly as the grow dictates.
They won't be massive plants either so there's no real rhyme or reason as to how we train them so long as we keep them all even as possible for the most part.

So, this morning I walked out into the garage and at 10am realized the lights were still on!
Why?
I have no idea!
I opened the app, and everything was set like it had been. I looked on the controller and it was reading as it was supposed to. 4:50 until lights on.
I killed power to the entire grow, turned it back on and it was still stuck on.
It wasn't until I unplugged the board from the power at the board did, they turn off like they were supposed to.
Very curious and frustrating.
Luckily it happened in veg while were able to work out the kinks but had that happened in flower?!?!

I may unplug them every now and then just to "reset" them and avoid this being a recurring problem.

Other than one hiccup the tent has been keeping temp and humidity pretty well.
I sat in the garage just dialing in the auto settings to "fine tune" the environment and walked away from it after a few hours of adjusting and live monitoring pretty satisfied. :laughtwo:

Our temps are sitting around 77F
Our humidity bounces between 40-55% I've stopped worrying so much about it and just keep filling the humidifier until we can switch to flower.
Then I can move it to another tent and worry about it there:rofl:
Vpd ranges but were within 5% of our target range about 75% of the time.

There’s been a bit of furniture movement in the tent as well.
Making space for a temporary addition(s)
Very exciting times indeed!

I plan to do a large update on Suzanne in her journal tomorrow
There is a TON to look out for in that journal as well.

Other than that things are going very smoothly and we’re just taking what they give us.
At 20 days we can start pushing them a tad bit more day by day.
To finish out here are a few more pics of the plants before I tied them down.
For some reason I didn’t get a pic of one of the Cookie Crisps.
I just got in a rhythm didn’t think of what I was doing and just tied her down.
I swear it sounds like it but I have nothing against the CC and am actually looking forward to it I swear!

CONTINUED…

It wasn't until I unplugged the board from the power at the board did, they turn off like they were supposed to.

Very strange, and agreed, a bit disconcerting and something to look out for in the future. Is that something you can reach out to AC Infinity and ask about?

I may unplug them every now and then just to "reset" them and avoid this being a recurring problem.

Could you add a digital timer to the board so it turns off for 1 minute during lights out to reset the board for you? Say, once a week or something? I'd still reach out to the company though because that shouldn't be needed for their setup.

Sorry I thought I replied to this my apologies.
I haven't reached out to AC but if I get anything to work as not intended i definitely will be.
I will allow this hiccup to pass but will be very critical.

I don't know if adding a timer will work because when I turned the power off at the power strip they remained on when they power came back on.
It seemed as if I had to unplug the board to get it to work again. very strange and will be monitoring.

Also, I don't want to add any times if I can help it.
To run my cob lights, I need a timer as I can't buy an AC plug to adapt it fast enough, they are in and out of stock in minutes!

This is a major red flag for this company.
If you have the best of anything, then you need to make sure you have appropriate stock!
having the best of anything that you're trying to sell means nothing if it's all in theory because it's never in stock!
A/C has lost a ton of cool points for NEVER HAVING ANY STOCK!
LOVE THE EQUIPMENT BUT there are very similar companies doing very similar things AND they are SPONSORS
I will be looking into them in the future if this doesn't get better soon.

Day 23

The ladies are looking lovely today!

E65C8E0D-D5DF-4CE4-A475-E4806D36F7A6.jpeg

Yesterday 12/18 they NEEDED water.
I had noticed they were a tad bit droopy on 12/17 and instantly thought they needed water. But I thought how they had just been fed 12/15 so opted to wait another day.
Humidity has been VERY low lately as its just been naturally dry outside. So, our little humidifier is doing all it can but its struggling to keep things over 40%.

I am going to start Foliar feeding. I have not been doing it per the schedule but now feel like it has other benefits outside of nutritional value for the plants it will help with the rapid drying out due to low humidity.

They did not look happy…
488B88F7-528C-47FB-BC38-48266E7AA193.jpeg

There was no denying they wanted water. I mixed up 7ml of Cal/mag into 1Gal of R/O water PH'd to 6.0ish.
I increased the amount of Cal/mag because I've started to notice very slight copper spotting on the some of the lower leaves here and there.
I think that may have been due to the Cal/mag issue we had before (my lack of using it rather)
They haven't showed much stress other than a spot here and there, so I increased the Cal/mag 2ml per gal in hopes of correcting the medium a bit and making a bit more available.
Thats the thinking anyway. Someone chime in if I'm off in my thinking here.

On 12/17 when I should have watered and gave them love and care. I decided that instead chopping off the heads of the PBK2 and the PGC1 was more appropriate somehow.
I chopped off the heads of the PGC2 and both the CC today.
I cut everything at the 4th node except CC1. I cut her at the 5th node.

BBC9AFE3-E83C-44D0-99C6-E2F67CE23DE8.jpeg

Speaking on CC1, I installed the new rug in front of the tent. Well, I stupidly tried to slide her back into place after her turn for water and knocked her over!
I was able to get her back snug in her pot and she doesn't seem to have noticed too much but it did happen. :laughtwo:
I can't catch a break with either of the Coffee Crisps!

The yellow sticky traps have been working I've noticed more casualties lately so that's a good sign.
I wrapped the traps around the bottoms of a couple of the pots, so they intertwine between each pot, and it seems to be pretty effective so far.

7FA582B8-F901-4669-BB8B-1C81A56BB6E5.jpeg

Outside of that were just enjoying the view and trying to stay out the way!
Now that we've topped well allow them to grow up and out a little bit and start to train them as they need.

F0B2B93A-A9DB-479E-84B1-048F0AA0D7E6.jpeg

While the clones from Suzanne are in the bucket with my aerating equipment, I won't be able to mix up the nutrients 24 hours prior so when they need their next feeding, I will be mixing up week 3 nutrients and vigorously mix them as much as I can bear just prior to feeding unless I can come up with something else quick.

In preparation for their up pot which isn’t anytime soon but thinking ahead.
I mixed up a Gal with 6Tbsp of SNS and drenched what I had left of soil.
I mixed it around and worked it in very good making sure to break up all the soil and get it saturated.
Then I opened up the bag fluffed it up a bit and punched a few holes in the bottom of the bag I led the bag open to dry out and kill off anything that may still be lurking in the soil.
I would hate for all this effort killing FG only to re add them to our garden because we didn’t address the root of our problem.

2238D456-FE3E-47D0-B8F8-FB53955BE97E.jpeg

When this soil dries out and comes back inside I will be mixing up whatever week on our nutrient schedule that corresponds with when they will be transplanted and add that to the soil to rehydrate it and “recharge” it.

This way when we add our plants to our bigger pots the soil we’re adding already has nutrients with the week we need to feed in it already.
We will water our transplants in and they should be able to hit the ground running as we head into the transition phase soon after.

Anyway, enough babbling for a simple enough update.

Thank you for your time! It is always appreciated!
As always Thanks for stopping by!

After their drink they are looking lovely, i'm glad the traps are working for you as well. :)
Thank you! I am trying to get into their rhythm and be ready with food and water as they need so we can avoid the droop as bad.

SIPs are becoming more and more necessary in this dry climate. I'm looking forward to a garden full of them

Looking good bud happy girls.. love how relaxed veg is!

I do the same as this.. only on my second grow ever but the nightmares I herd of these gnats I steam all my soil when I buy it to kill anything then put it all in a tub mixed ready just turn it every so often. I can always see it's still alive but then again I'm growing in compost 🤦🏽‍♂️🤣
