LMAO Cloning For Dummies

No sh** huh....I'll Jackie chan my way out...but once it's full with the ladies hell she can lock me in no problem lol
My wife dont have to lock me in my grow room. She battles to get me out their when im home. As i go to sea for 3 weeks at a time. Catching squid. So i miss my girls alot.

I found this but idk

In order to know you are providing the right thermal environment for you plants through ventilation, oscillating fans etc. you need to understand the physical nature of the 'heat' in grow spaces, how it should be measured, and the mistakes that can easily be made.

Essentially there are two aspects to the thermal environment that you need to be aware of:

1. The AIR temperature
2. The RADIANT temperature

Although obviously related, these are 2 distinctly separate phenomena and your plants have different tolerances for each.

1. Air temperature
Your standard mercury/alcohol-bulb or digital thermometer is designed to measure the temperature of the air (But not radiant heat). This is what is being referred to in the usual growers 'rules of thumb' such as maintaining your grow above 16degC and below 30degC.

Most thermometers are only designed to measure air temperature â€" growers often mistakenly place their thermometer in direct light; radiant energy will warm your thermometer and give a higher than actual reading.

*Assuming your air is well mixed up by oscillating fans, it doesn't really matter where you locate your thermometer. The best spot is probably about half the way up a wall, with a piece of cardboard over it (To shade it from radiant heat), exposed to the mixed air in the grow room.

2. Radiant temperature
Radiant temperature is the result of heat transfer bewteen objects at different temperatures without whats inbetween i.e. the air, being effected. In our case the plants are naturally at a lower temperature that the light and reflector so heat is transferred to the plants foliage from the light/refecltor through radiation. This causes the leaves to heat up. The plants can withstand much higher radiant temperatures (around 40-50degC) than they can air temperatures but if this is too high the plants can 'burn'.

The plants can withstand much higher radiant temperatures than they can air temperatures, but if this is too high the plants can “burnâ€.

'The hand test': Place your hand in a comfortable position for some time at the tips of your plants should be. If your hand feels “hotâ€, then the lights are too close, the radiant energy is too intense, and light burn may result. Do this test and raise your HID lights/reflectors periodically to keep light burn to a minimum.

Finally, monitor the conditions in your grow regularly as things are changing all the time, and you will soon get to understand the thermal dynamics of your particular grow space so you can get the most from it.

Editor's note:
[Cannabis loves high light levels/high radiant energy levels, but exceeding their tolerance for light can result in light burn and chlorophyll leaching out of the leaves. 600's & 1000's put out a lot of light, and light burn can easily damage clones and young plants.

Light burn damage: initially the leaves look pale green (the edges may turn upwards, mimicking a Mg deficiency), then they turn yellow and finally yellow/brown as the leaves scorch.

Often you can see a circular pattern of intense light where the reflector has focused the light onto the plants. If plants outside of this intense light zone look greener and healthier, consider raising your lights.]
I have 3 temp and humidity sensors. 1 in tent 1 in amongst plants in veg and one on wall. .

They are a little more expensive but you can get a clock that has an outdoor sensor place it inside your grow room and you can place the clock on the outside this will allow you to check everything without even going in and without anybody knowing it's even there you'll know your humidity and temperature and be able to see your time for when your lights come on this is the way that I run mine

I would keep mine at where your canopy is going to be that would be the hottest place your plants is going to be any higher you're going to read temperatures higher than what your plants really going to deal with any lower you're going to read lower than your plan is actually receiving

If it ends up being a male and you want to use it for breeding purposes just let me know with enough time and had about two weeks before you throw it into flowering and I can run you through the entire process day by day that way you know exactly what you're doing and when to do it ask for if you want feminized seeds you can go online and buy the silver spray or one of the Mist mineral Mist sprays and these will make feminized seeds versus regular seeds very cheap and easy to do will save you money buying seeds by a lot you have enough power and enough room in your tents to be able to do breedings without it causing any problems what makes this fun is that your Autos is something I can teach you how to breathe so you never have to buy them again breeding and cloning are one of the two things that I do very well

They are both that something that you need to worry about but they are not as bad as people make them out to be I live in a desert during the day it can be 120 degrees here my plants are outside in full sun in a 120° weather and it does not cause them much problems because they are used to it as long as I don't have extreme ups and downs I don't have any issues my plants are raised in this heat my plants are bred in this heat eventually they get used to it you can only do the best that you can do on getting yours as perfect as you can it will never be 100% perfect unless you put a lot of money in it

Once I reached about 150 plants hit got real hard to remember what strains I had what strains I needed the Clone and one strains were getting closer to harvest confusing confusing confusing and now it's even worse I use stickers and right on the sticker cuz if not I will not remember my plants each one of them has writing on the plot which tells me what they get where they came from when how long ago and how was taken these are just a few of the things that I have learned to do to keep track of all my plants

Well I'mhigh. Thanks so much. Will keep it in mind. Might be hard now as i am away 3 weeks then home a week. For next couple months. Might need more than a week to do this.

Hello and good day folks! It only took almost a week for me to read all the posts here! Lol chatty bunch... lol first off I would like to thank iamhigh mostly for starting this thread, but also everyone of you that are posting here!
Here is my story so you all can get to know me a little. Since I have read every post here I already feel that I know you folks a little at least.
I have been a casual smoker most of my life but the first time I grew some was about 25 years ago because a guy owed me some money but all he had to give me was 6 seeds that he said if you know what your doing they are very valuable! I didn't know what kind of seeds they were & I didn't know how to grow them. But I started 4 of the 6 and lost the other 2 to a mouse in my house! But that's another story! Anyway back to the subject. I used a basic hardware store very for tomatoes 10-10-10 for veg and a flower very if 10-52-10 for budding. With no knowledge crappy fertilizer but a lot of interest I grew those plants for 26 cycles because of cloning. I used the cup of soil method. No dome just cut them dipped in soft wood powder root stim and stuck them in dirt under a little florescent grow light. I used to loose some but always had enough to start the next cycle.
I was given a clone from a friend and ended up with thrips. At about the same time I got really paranoid for some reason ( don't really remember why, it was a long time ago) because where I live it was illegal to even possess let alone grow. Also had kids about that time and didn't want them to see Dad getting dragged off to jail. So I stopped completely. Also nothing I grew was for sale, only personal.

Now it's a decade later and my wife is very sick. She tried everything that the drs told here and it almost killed her with their pharmaceutical poison! So she is set up as a medical cannabis patient. Wow how the times change. I also should mention that I am in Canada and the government is going to make it totally legal next year!
OK back on subject. Because I now wanted to grow my wife's meds I got all caught up into wanting to get everything perfect! So I started to research my ass off and second guessed everything! I got really confused really quick because as has been said here many times, everyone has a different way of doing things.
Then I saw a post pointing to this thread and the more I read here the more I realize that I don't have to be a rocket scientist, I just need some common sense! lol so thank you all for stopping my possible brain blow!
Don't get me wrong I still want to grow the best meds I can! This is for the mother of my children and I want her to be able to enjoy life. I feel I am her last hope and it's a heavy weight on my shoulders. We don't have much money so we can't buy her meds. I think that was why I was getting so confused because I felt if I made a mistake it was my wife that would pay for it.
But now I will take a deep breath and slow down and learn the best way for me to do this. ( I didn't say the right way because I now realize that the best way for you may not be the best way for me).
Sorry for being long winded but I wanted to thank you all and kinda let you all know me a little.
I also have to say that I am from a place and time that you told nothing to nobody ever! And I am still having a hard time adjusting to this. I have never posted anything about this subject anytime anywhere. This is my jumping off the deep end of the pool kina thing. And believe it or not I am feeling nervous to hit the post button! It's horrible that laws have made people this way about a plant that could save the world! It is getting better and that gives me hope! Thank you all for giving me the guts to make my first post!

Welcome waistednight !!! Making and growing medication is alot of fun. I supply about 10 people with tincture that i make with 96% proof vodka. My father included. The generation that was led to believe that is was a bad useless plant. Now old they wish they started using it yrs ago!!!
Im from south Africa where they also busy leagalizing it!!
Cant wait.
Feel your passion for good growing.

I would get a little offended if the mouse stole my plants

The paranoid comes to everybody especially the closer to harvest you get but in order to grow her the best medicine that you can you need to start with a plane out Basics so you can work your way up as you know I am high I run if you dispensaries in New Mexico I deal with medical marijuana patients every day feel free to post here you have nothing to worry about welcome and have a seat feel free to ask any questions that you need to even if they have already been answered once or twice the Q&A question game is one of my favorites.

Everybody is friendly here and we can help you along if you leave a post of detailed information of what you are going to use to grow I can do my best to help you set up and get it going and as you said it is not rocket science people make it out harder to be than what it really is welcome to my world it's full of smoke

I was looking at a set up that has 2 wireless sensors that I can watch the temp and humidity in both rooms on 1 screen...in the veg room I have the temp sensor level with top of the plant ....it's on the wall...the light is like 2-3 inches above the plant...so if it reads 86 degrees does that mean that's the temp the plant is getting or the temp in the room

No just because your room is 86° temperature wise does not mean that is what your plan is feeling it is sort of kind of like what they tell you on the Weather Channel when they tell you the temperature is 93 degrees outside but the real feel is 97 it also works in reverse the temperature can be 93 and also feel like it is 87 a lot of this has to do with air flow the more error you can get flowing even with the heat the cooler it makes it so it may read higher than it is

Ok so just because it reads 90 don't mean that's what they feel...once the gauge reads 85 and up I'm like o man I gotta cool it off...I did a test run last night on the new room and just used and old school thermometer and it said about 90 after light on for couple hours but there is no fan inside there yet

907skunk, I would like to make a couple observations about your grow room set up. And this is what I think personally and may or may not be correct, but worth looking into further if you like.

1. If your thermometer is in your room or tent and somewhere below the grow light the radiant heat from the light will warm up the thermometer and give a temperature reading higher then it actually is. I tape a small piece of cardboard to the top of my thermometer to shade it from my light. That's all it takes, just shading it from the light. That will give you an accurate reading of the temperature. This is of course not factoring in the amount of air movement in the room or tent that will reduce the heat the plants feel.

2. Did you carpet the floor of your grow room? I thought I saw a piece of carpet in one of your recent photos. Since you will be watering the plants that contain nutrients, and just water alone, in a warm room with some humidity I would be concerned about mold or mildew building up in the carpet. I also think you lose a good bit of reflected light not having the floor painted white like the rest of the room. And my final fear would be that the carpet is a good hiding place for unwanted crawling guests to hide out.

Do NOT make any changes till others have had a chance to chime in. And I know already you wouldn't do that cause you're too smart.

Yea I thought about all that to carpet wise...good idea on the cardboard thing!!!!!....I didn't wanna rip up the carpet cause it's a rental so don't wanna get in trouble....I read to be careful on the light underneath the plant that hits the bottom side of the leaves

Pull up photos of grow tents and see how many have a shiny silver bottom. They must all know something no?
