LMAO Cloning For Dummies

Well Big learning curve on the coco situation lol...wasn't paying attention and got the dust EVERYWHERE... my girl was helping me break it up now she's dusting the house lol we didn't know but I looked up different ways of doing all this so next time I know
Your gonna do great. You'll love the coco. You were pro mix before correct?

I was using something from a local company and it burned my plant...then went to hyponex by scotts and was great...all my plants are in that...but imhigh been trying to talk me into coco for a while and couldn't find it...so Now gotta learn how to grow in coco...it's starting out as a pain but should be fine...I have it rehydrating Now and will put my new clones in tomorrow...

I'm really mad that I was told I would have enough for my pots and I don't...like 4 pots shy...I knew I shoulda got more and my town trips are few and far between so I can only do 6 for Now

Damn. Sorry to hear that..... what size pots?

I grab the blue 3 gallons from homie depot. They are for washing your car I think lol. Shit for 2 bucks it's a no brainer!

Anyways I'm sure they'll love coco. There are a few members around that grow monster plants in coco!!! I think you'll like it for sure

Yea these were cheap black ones from a garden store...I drilled more holes in em...I hope the coco pays off I'm still a rookie and not looking for pounds here just better quality

Well I rehydrated the coco different from everyone else...rookie me but it's ok...spent couple hrs breaking the bricks up...then added the perlite...I filled up each pot just a lil lower than I normally do( was told about expansion) put em in the tub and flooded the pots until water was coming out the bottom...now is that good enough or do they need more water? And I plan on knocking all the soil off the clones before putting in the coco since coco is reusable apparently

Coco is hydro. So you will reap the benefits of it!

No worries on how you broke it up at all. The important part is to get a goooood rinse. So under the sink spout or shower head drench and squeeze drench and squeeze a few times until runoff is clear. Finish with one last strong squeeze.

Then I suggest ph'd water and 150 ppm cal mag at this point just a tiny to let the coco soak up what you were able to squeeze out.

Honestly I didn't do the seconds step even though people recommend it. Waste of materials imho. I just rinse the shit out of them in their final pot. Then compress some water out.

Stick in the clone ( some soil on roots is okay!) And lightly fees with nute solution until runoff.

Ps always water to runoff I'm coco. Always. They hold salts as much as they do the cal mag so it can throw things off. Kota of science and big words I could hit ya with but won't.

Thanks I'm a simple minded guy lmao...I read about the calmag thing but idk...so from what your saying I have to water them more than I do now...I water/feed everyday...I was put on this schedule by imhigh and has been working great

SO here's some shots. I'm wondering where the new growth will come from.

And the tips hardening off is a good sign correct? They weren't like that the first week. I'm assuming b.c the cutting didn't have the strength and was likely confused by the change of environment...
The new growth will come from whereever they like.... Top, sides, roots... sorry, that sounds facecious, but *promise* i'm serious. New fans & lateral branches will appear as on a normal plant of that specific phenotype. Unless you do something weird to it, then it probably won't.
Also, if anyone has access to coconut water, it REALLY helps with the rooting-thing. (But only the organic stuff out of the coconut's center, dunno about the type with all the preservatives....)
Ps has anyone heard anything about mr iamhigh85?

Hiya. Just going to jump on this wagon quickly:
Coco is really great if you use bottled nutes, as it is supposed to be a sterile growing medium. So absolute control, you're Idi Amin when it comes to regulating food etc . So no hot spots or buried nutes somewhere in the mix.
Coco is not so great if you leave town for a week with no one to watch your girls. So, great for managing diets, not so great for people with jobs that take them travelling.
My experience:
I've used coco as an amendment to our clay soil a few times, not bad for creating aeration, but for that i prefer perlite/vermiculite. The last grow i did with coco, thirds each of 1. Soil mix (compost, worm castings, soil)
2. Coco
3. Vermiculite/ perlite.
The coco sunk down, covered all the drainage holes in my pots with this dense, undraining mass. Root rot heaven. Complete disaster. Now, it might have been a bad batch (?!? How? It's coco!!!), but i'm kind of meh about it now. I've got 4, 2kg's left of a 5kg pack of pressed coco, i might never use it again.
Pro's & cons, but if you do what high says, i'm sure you'll ace it.

You need to soak the whole pot for a while. Put the plug in the bottom of the tub & add a bit of water, you'll see how the coco slurps it up. Now for the fun part: you need to drain those pots for (idk, long) at least 6 hrs before you put your seedlings/clones in. Yay. It's flood & drain until no more runoff. Fun. See why i grow outside in the dirt? This feels like lotsa work...

Imhigh is ok he had an issue and is recovering....I filled the pot and flooded em like 4-5 times in the tub last night til runoff looked better...they been draining for 10 hrs...going to get as much soil off the clones as I can today and put em in the pots...I put a lot of perlite in the coco so hopefully I did everything right and all goes well

Before I forget 1 inch of perlite in bottom of pots. If it's not too late. And yes every day watering not a TON just enough to wash away salts and replenish nute water.

Damn I thought about putting that in the bottom since the coco is so fine but forgot
Your okay you can always poke a few extra holes too if need be! With that great new fan I'm sure you'll be okay anyways. :thumb:
