LKABudMan And The Vivosun Auto Oasis - Sponsored By VIVOSUN

I usually start LST a couple of days later, but I've been breaking off limbs lately. I'm thinking of waiting a few more days before I start pulling her limbs down, allowing me to pull further away from the main stem. I may try using weights instead of carhooks & wire, too. I'll see how she looks over the next couple of days and go from there.
Maybe try Supercropping the branches before tieing them down. That will reduce the stress right at the trunk.

But they're so small right now. That makes more sense if I give them a week to grow out first, which I might.

Violet didn't take long to recover from her topping. She's still not drinking much, but all of her lower nodes are growing well and putting on length. I'll be topping off her res any day now.
Violet tracker 20230814.png
Yesterday I saw a couple of spider mite spots on one of her leaves. So she got a full spraying of SNS-217c on both sides of every leaf. It's definitely easier when she only has a handful of leaves ;) After her spraying I used a paper towel to dry most of the upper surfaces of the leaves before putting her back in the tent. Today you can't even tell she was sprayed. And no additional spider mite spots.

She's been getting SNS-209 with every watering since she sprouted. She has it in her res now, along with some BTI to control the fungus gnats. Throw in the lady bugs (which I'm still releasing a couple of times a week) and I'm hoping I can keep the nasty bugs in check.

Where did the spider mites appear from?
I been spraying weekly with SNS.
Mites and bugs at first but now SNS-DC. for bud rot.
Got a touch in the hut for the first time ever indoors.
That @VIVOSUN VS6450 is awesome.
The buds were so tight and hard, I spent 11 hours straight trimming.
Probably some of the best buds I’ve harvested.
A little adjustment to the air circulation and I think it’s going to be a Rock Hard Nug Machine.
Good luck with the mites. killem buggers.
Take care my friend.

Hey Bill. They started in the salad tent and then spread from there.
I been spraying weekly with SNS.
I'm trying to attack them from a couple different angles: spraying SNS-217C weekly, using SNS-209 in the res, and using ladybugs in all the tents.

oof. I've never dealt with bud rot (knocks wood). I keep the lung room < 50% RH and let the Vivosun Smart Grow System take care of the rest. I'm usually in the low 50s in RH in late flower, and I have lots of airflow in my tents. The @VIVOSUN AeroLight really helps with that because it blows directly down into the plant. It really helps keep the middle of the plan open.

I love my VSF6450, it's definitely a lot of light. Watching your grow definitely has me considering CO2, although I'd feel much better about it in an outside shed than in my basement. I keep talking about doing what @gwhunran does with an active fermentation, maybe that would be the perfect middle ground. A bit safer than tanks.

Congrats on the harvest and it sounds like we'll both keep fighting those damned bugs. Hey, someone has to keep @Sierra Natural Science in business :)

Growth on Violet looks great and the lower growth is already aiming for the canopy...gotta love that!
Thanks Shed, and I'm always happy to see those lower nodes go off after topping.
Have you built them a house in each tent? Grandpa Tokin did a great post on how to keep ladybugs happy and staying put. It's here!
I have not, but thanks for the link. They'll get some houses today 🐞🏠 They seem to be happy with the spider mites and fungus gnats right now. I've seen them in the res, too. Mostly they just hang out in the plant, though.

Julie has had a rough life. She's battled fungus gnats and spider mites, and then I went and fried her top leaves. She still has plenty of lower leaves, though, and she's still drinking about 1.5L/day. She's been on the new Remo blend for about a week now, along with BTI & SNS-209 added to her res.
Julie Tracker 20230817.png
I'm still trying to keep the spider mites down to a minimum. I'm watching for any new damage and spot-spraying SNS-217C on any hot spots. She's due for another full spraying this weekend.

She's only on day# 44 of flower so she still has a couple more weeks to go. She lost quite a few leaves and burned a lot of her top leaves, but she seems to have stabilized for now. She's stopped losing leaves and doesn't look to be getting any worse. At this point I'm just trying to keep her going and keeping the bugs at bay as much as possible. Hopefully she can still do some swelling in the next couple of weeks. Either way she is a big lady and is starting to smell really good. She may be struggling and her leaves may be ugly, but her buds are dripping with trics ;)

Date: 8/18/23 Day# 26
Medium: 5G SIP Bucket with FFHF & Dynomyco

Violet has been in her SIP for 11 days now. I watered her thoroughly on transplant, then kept her res about 1/4 full for the first week or so. This week I filled her res 3/4 full. She hasn't shown any issues transitioning to the SIP and is growing quickly now. I've also been adding SNS-209 & BTI to her res to try to keep the bugs away.
Violet Tracker 20230818.png
I was thinking of doing something different with Violet's LST as I've been breaking limbs off lately. One reason is that the past two plants were 8"+ tall. With 12" carhooks, I had to keep everything really low for the hooks to work. Violet is an inch or two shorter, allowing me to be a bit more gentle on the LST. I also started a little later this time, allowing the branches to get a bit longer.

For her first day of LST (Wed Aug 16 day# 24), I just hooked the top two mains. I hooked them as far out as I could, and only pulled the branches down about half way to horizontal.

Then yesterday, I moved the first two hooks out a little and added two more on the next nodes. These not only hold the 3rd node down, but also to the side a little bit. I also moved the @VIVOSUN AeroLight closer to give her about 30DLI in her fourth week. I'm hoping that the extra light will keep her main stem from stretching as much, which puts strain on the carhooks.

Today I moved the top hooks out past the first node and lowers the second hooks. She's growing quickly, so I'll be checking and adjusting the carhooks daily for the next few days. Especially when they're closer to the main stem, I need to make sure they don't put too much stress on the main stem.

I haven't seen any additional mite damage on Violet since she was sprayed. You can still see a few white dots on one leaf, but it never went any further. I'm keeping a good eye on her for now and will spray her if I see any indication of mites.

Well, another LST'ed auto and another limb broken off ;( Today when I went to check on Violet one of her top mains was broken. It looks like the limb tried growing up, and the branch broke in half. It was close to a node, too, so there was no room to tape it. I just removed it, effectively topping that branch. Luckily, she has not started flowering yet so the topping may end up as a bonus. We'll see.

She's still fighting the good fight against the spider mites. I'm checking her daily and if I see a flare-up I spray it with SNS-217c. I'm not seeing any webs or anything and she still looks mostly clean. I'm hoping the spot-spraying and ladybugs will get her through to harvest. Of course, I'll be washing the bud when I harvest.

She's finishing up her 7th week of flower and she's 84 days from seed. Today I decided to scope her trichomes to see how they're progressing.

A lot more cloudy and amber than I was expecting. Based on this, she probably only has a week or so to go. Starting tomorrow, I'll switch her over to plain water for the remainder. She has a date with the drying closet soon :)

Daisy (Barneys Farm Dos Si Dos Auto) - Final Update

Date: 8/2/23 - Day# 12 of Drying
Strain - NASC - Barneys Farm Dos Si Dos Auto (Daisy)
Drying Space - 28SqFT closet with central A/C
Other Equipment: Air purifier circulating air, humidifier with distilled water
Temperatures
There were a few days where it was 98f outside, and my A/C is over 20 years old. The closet got a little warm at times, but thanks to the humidifier the RH stayed in the right range for drying.

Daisy has been in the drying closet for 12 days now. I'm getting ready for another harvest, so today I bucked and bagged her buds.

She was on 6 hangers altogether, with one only 1/4 full. I started with the first three hangers, which mostly contained smaller inside nugs and larf. Not the most dense nugs, but still very sticky and trichy. I have plenty of friends and family that would love to have some of this bud. I got 62g of bud after it was all bucked.

The fourth hanger was more substantial than the first three, but still had smaller buds and some of the longer inner branches. It ended up with 44g of middling buds.

On the fifth hanger we have some of the outside buds. These are a more dense still, and a bit longer as well. This hanger had 84g of bud.

The final hanger was the best branches. Some of these branches were over 20g by themselves. Most of this was dense, sticky premium buds. This hanger had 134g!

So all together, Daisy ended up with 324g, or about 11.4 oz of bud. That beats my largest auto harvest by over 3oz :) She's in a 1 pound Grove bag now, with a Govee hygrometer.

I'll monitor the bag over the next week. If the RH gets > 64%, I'll dump the buds out into my @VIVOSUN trim tray and let them sit for 20-30 minutes before putting them back in the bag. I'll also tumble the bag daily, just to make sure the buds aren't clumping together. In my previous experience with Grove bags, though, as long as you get the bud in the bag < 65% RH the bag takes care of the cure. I took the Govee out of Gina's (Gelato Auto) bag. You can see how steady the bags keep the RH.

I'll wait at least a day to see where the RH settles. As soon as I know it's < 64%, I'll squish some up and see how she tastes. Until then, I'll be trying out the scissor hash and kief collected.

Congrats man looks awesome I need to try one of those govee bags. I have that same trim tray with the mesh, the best harvest tool purchase I’ve made.

Beautiful

🩷💛💚
Thanks Trala
Sorry about another broken branch but they grow up fast these days. I'm sure that just means more bud on every other branch!
I'm just looking at it as a second topping on that branch.
And the purple in those trichome pics really makes them pop. I didn't see much amber in there but a week is plenty of time to finish up.

I love the purpling at the end, Daisy (Dos Si Dos) looked similar. I think she's coming out of that tent in a week whether she's ready or not ;)

Thanks 024. When I started growing I looked at the price of jars+hygrometers and going with the Grove bags was a no-brainer. Not having to burp is really nice.
