Date: 8/18/23 Day# 26
Medium: 5G SIP Bucket with FFHF & Dynomyco
Nutrients: Geoflora Veg
Violet has been in her SIP for 11 days now. I watered her thoroughly on transplant, then kept her res about 1/4 full for the first week or so. This week I filled her res 3/4 full. She hasn't shown any issues transitioning to the SIP and is growing quickly now. I've also been adding SNS-209 & BTI to her res to try to keep the bugs away.
I was thinking of doing something different with Violet's LST as I've been breaking limbs off lately. One reason is that the past two plants were 8"+ tall. With 12" carhooks, I had to keep everything really low for the hooks to work. Violet is an inch or two shorter, allowing me to be a bit more gentle on the LST. I also started a little later this time, allowing the branches to get a bit longer.
For her first day of LST (Wed Aug 16 day# 24), I just hooked the top two mains. I hooked them as far out as I could, and only pulled the branches down about half way to horizontal.
Then yesterday, I moved the first two hooks out a little and added two more on the next nodes. These not only hold the 3rd node down, but also to the side a little bit. I also moved the
@VIVOSUN AeroLight closer to give her about 30DLI in her fourth week. I'm hoping that the extra light will keep her main stem from stretching as much, which puts strain on the carhooks.
Today I moved the top hooks out past the first node and lowers the second hooks. She's growing quickly, so I'll be checking and adjusting the carhooks daily for the next few days. Especially when they're closer to the main stem, I need to make sure they don't put too much stress on the main stem.
I haven't seen any additional mite damage on Violet since she was sprayed. You can still see a few white dots on one leaf, but it never went any further. I'm keeping a good eye on her for now and will spray her if I see any indication of mites.
