Plant update:

I've been checking the trichs under the scope and they seem to be pretty clear nothing cloudly has been spotted yet. Day 70 mark is next weekend and there's one thing I've noticed about the plants. They are fading and turning brown fairly quick.... seems quicker than I'm used to. I hope that I didn't mess anything up lol.

I just took a few photos to share and then i'm going back into the room to prune the nasty leaves before they are due for brix in the morning. Also i might make another set of scrogg to put up as second layer to help hold the buds up right. They are just leaning all over the place and i want to fix that. It'll help with the air flow and allow lower buds to get more light.

Wow fingers. very , very nice garden. They are sooo close eh!.. No worriez of the fast fade. You have done a marvelous job and now have a most awesome crop to trim...ha...lol. You got a plan for harvesting all that top shelf produce...friends, family ...straggler trimmers...lmao! Yes, the weight has been going on them for the last couple weeks and the next week to ten days will be a challenge , as they ripen and get all floppy. Gonna be such a killer crop. way to go ..:headbanger:

Thank you duggan! Means a lot coming from experienced hb grower like you.

Only thing I'm worried about is the appearance of the product at the end.... No one is going to want to smoke brown looking buds and they'll tell me its swagg from Mexico! lol. Regardless of the bag appeal, I'm sure it'll be good for me :)

The harvest is usually done just by me and one friend because over the years I've learned that I cannot trust people during harvest time for several reasons. Biggest reason for me is theft and poor quality work. So it will be a full weekend non stop trimming :blunt:It's going to be worth it especially having a peace of mind about quality and care put into trimming.

I'm thinking the drenches is going to be spot on before harvest. Soon the plants will be due for water + 1/4 TP/tea and then they'll have full strength growth / tea end of this week which is sometime before harvest. Although judging by the appearance of the trichs, I think they'll need a little more time to finish because I haven't seen any cloudy or amber trichs.

OK, Fingers...no worriez. tell ya wat ....your buds are in the harvest 'window right now , so don't fret. Here's wat you do. When the single bladed bud leaves start to fade and turn brown(die) it's time to chop. Do NOT let the plant try and grow once those bud leaves die off ok. U should harvest before that happens . Those dead single bladed bud leaves will start to mold on the bud if they are left that way too long. No worriez, though...just don't let them completely turn brown ok. Bag appeal will still be great as long as you trim those off the buds and colas ok. Its easier if you chop them before the brown goes all the way back into the bud...know wat i mean?
cheers eh.

Okay Duggan that sounds good and i do know what you mean. Would you still chop em even though the trich are still clear? Im thinking they could go for another week... however i do see some things you pointed out.... single blade leaves are starting to fade pretty good. So that means harvest might have to be this weekend.

Today the pots was still little heavy and i might have to give em light watering tomorrow (5-10 gal water) so that i can do growth drench on Thursday / Friday. Or perhaps would you suggest me to skip water and just full drench with growth / tea that way the plants have time to drink that up before chop.?

Thanks and i hope you all have a great Monday! :)

If u can see the lil bud leaves still have some green to them, then yes, let them go that week longer. I would make this last drink a GI drench w/Tea. Thats it, nothing else is needed. The main thing to avoid , in your situation , is don't let ALL the green disapeer from those single bladed bud leaves. Once that happens and there are no green leaves left on the plant , it will start to die off, creating all kinds of issues.

Awesome!!! When i get home in three hours, I will inspect the plants again to double and tripple check them. Also I will post many close ups to get every one's opinion on the next course of action.

If they are due to chop this weekend ill use your recommendation to skip water and do growth with tea. I am hoping they can go another week for some cloudy/amber trichs to appear under the scope.

So yeah Im going to try get some clear close up pics posted tonight. Hopefully my hands will cooperate and stay steady with the camera lol

Here we go picture time! Please excuse me for some blurry shots, maybe you'll be able to spot some cloudy / amber trichs.
I was unable to get a good close up of the trichs... couldn't hold the phone steady enough. Also I dont think it could focus in and stay focused. It kept shifting and it was going to give me a headache watching the screen constantly zoom in/out blurry/clear/blurry/clear lol. So I think there is a couple clouds but i'm not 100% sure. In the morning I will try borrow a DSLR camera and see if i can get something with it. :)

Happy Hump day every one! :blunt:

I have decided that I am going to start choppin this weekend! While checking the plants again today, they seem to have more fade and I had to pluck more nasty fan leaves. During the inspection on the trichs under the scope i spotted a few cloudy and maybe two to four amber on both starduster plants! Boy i am so happy! :cheer:TBH I was a little worried about harvesting too early. The third plant - Birds of paradise plant has a few cloudy trichs and still has quite a bit of clear. I figured those trichs on the BOP plant will become more cloudy/amber by the time they get chopped. Now i just have to get the tools, chairs, radio and cold beverages ready for the weekend!

Oh yeah i almost forgot to add this. I did not water the plants on monday and was unable to do it yesterday. So today I'm going to make sure plants are watered with a full drench of growth w/ tea and that means the plants will have full 3 days of drinking before chopping is started.

Have a great Wensday!
:yahoo::bongrip:

Looking heavy in here Limp. Awesome plants! With HPS I find grows tend to fade a lot. Maybe this is due to the increased heat and spectrum having a lot of red ? Not sure. Your Def in the harvest window though and trichomes will continue to develop after chop so if they were mine I would do exactly what Duggs said. Skip plain water and give a heavier / heavy GE + tea. Finish on that or if u do extend the harvest longer give them back to back GE before chop.

cant wait to hear about the finish results.Awesome canopy control for sure :high-five: :adore:

have a sweet day Limp and Friends:Namaste:

Thank you wrenn, gazoo and pc!

Wrenn, I think you're onto something about the light spectrum having a lot of red.... I'm actually using brand new bulbs for this run and it's a different make that i have never seen or used before. The bulbs were bought under duggan's advice and i liked the performance considering they were cheaper than other higher priced brands i used in the past.

Speaking of canopy..... i couldn't be any happier! Quadlining is the way to go and i'm glad this first time experience has been positive for me. There is no doubt i'll do quadline for now on and i feel this method is the best one compared to the others I've tried in the past. Obviously there is less lights wasted and i feel i had more control of the horizontal / vertical growth especially during the stretch.

lol Gazoo, i love that picture! It's a good thing i do not have to do that very often :) I feel bad for local caregivers who trim every month or two.... It's just a highway to carpal tunnel :)

Thank you PC, I'm confident you can achieve the same! Just follow duggan's advices as i did and be diligent when you do your quadline and pruning. Be sure to document lots of notes! Sometime I find myself looking back into my notes to edit / add / remove any information.

hey Duggan- Should i still do brix foliar spray? Plants were watered today and they didnt drink much. I noticed there's still plenty of runoff at the bottom of the saucer and i was thinking about doing brix spray in the morning or maybe Friday the day before trimming. I feel it'd be better to do it in the morning to give them more time to process it all before trimming happens and just wanted to check with ya before i do anything. Thanks! :)

Awesome sounds good to me.

Ive got every thing needed for the weekend and just need to pick up more lemon juice for the wash. :)
Not sure about the help im getting.... a friend already bailed and few others are not sure about their weekend schedules lol. so it might be just solo work for me and im okay with that knowing i do not have to look over stuff more than once.

Tonight im going to have a early start on plucking the fan leaves, brown leaves, set up the drying racks, clean the three bins for washing and clean/dust off all equipment ready for work. :)

Hope all of you have a great Friday!!
