Not at all mate. I know there are different ways :) Yeah, coco is totally inert and nute free :)

I always see coco in my hydro shop and I always think I'm guna research that stuff and give it a run but I never have lol

same. for one, it's more expensive than dirt, and 2, I don't know if it drains better or worse than soil. some people say it dries up quicker than soil, while other say coco is meant to retain water like peat moss?

I want something that dries out quickly so I can get a lot of feedings in on my plants :high-five:

Add a bit of perlite and some clay pebbles on the bottom of your pots and it drains like mad my friend :) EVERYONE, and I DO mean everyone I know who grows in my hood uses coco :)

From my experience using soil with no nutrients or additives ...

I usually feed half recommended dose when they are atleast 5 nodes high and showing signs of fast internode growth ...

But like I said this is experiences from soil purely ... I have never tried coco so it's probably best to ask someone who's had more experience with coco mate :)

In ur hood? Yea it's like the ghetto project up ur way like lol
Only joking only joking calm down man......
B.real I'm a soil man I love canna terra pro it's got all that's needed in great amounts for a 4 week veg at least
That's what guys use in my hood lol

I pay around $10-15 for 2 cu ft of decent soil around here. after tilling it, the stuff drains so well. water never puddles at the top of my pots anymore, it soaks right into the soil which is nice.

tilling the soil with your hands before putting it in a pot is a GREAT technique that I will never skip anymore.

I also microwave my soil before planting to kill any bug larvae, which is why I have no more fungus gnats in my grow area (thank god, knock on wood)

now to find some cheap coco and see if it grows quicker/bigger plants?

Hey b.real. I found my mix of coco and soil really great t o work with as you get the forgiveness of soil but with the airy draining of coco. I think I might go down this root permanently from now. just a thought.

I'm with ya there bro...

La mate, at the risk of sounding like a total prat, I need to ask yet another question regarding pots lol. I went to buy some rectangular ones on Tuesday but a) they were clear, b) the store didn't have enough and c) I couldn't find ANYTHING that would act efficiently as a drip tray. So, my son came up with a possible solution......my 20ltr round pots measure 11" diameter internally, if I was to get a rectangular tray (as in lap tray) and cut a 10" circle out of it then it it on top of the round pots would it work? It would mean the girls are in direct contact with the plastic tray. Would this have any "sweating" or mold issues? Thanks for putting up with this idiot lol :) :Namaste::peace:

Wise words again you SAGE lol :) It's the drip trays that are causing my biggest headache lol. I can't just put DPM down because it's in our "2nd" bedroom lol. Water + carpet = NO SEX FOR ME lol :)

Garden centers look for big seeding trays, they would work. The Range. If you have that store up near you does them.if nothing else try finding something like them bread basket things outside supermarkets and then some thick polly sheeting to line them. Or even better pet store for big cat litter trays. Or if you have the store QD near you they do monster roasting tins (foil) but pretty damn thick and dead cheap.
