Hey LA! How was cannafest! I hope you had a great time.
On my side, the flux is still going strong, and it's almost past the point where I can no longer restrain it in the pot. I'll HAVE to re-pot soon.
I have also started 6 other seeds from the same bagstrain I like so much, but with a little experiment.
The idea behind this, came from your original suggestion (somewhere in the first 20 pages) to top above the 3rd node.
Now the sativa strain i'm growing really loves to stretch. This by itself caused my first flux to be quite stretched by topping above the 3rd. So I was thinking, would I benefit somehow in terms of size or vigor or growth time, If I topped above the 2nd node instead.
So I decided to set up my little experiment :
I initially sowed a full tray of 48 seeds. I simply put some of the same compost soil, slapped a seed in each one, covered and watered.
I had about a 75% sprout rate. I think thats good.
From here on, I chose the 6 most vigorous plants, repotted them in slightly larger containers, and set them in the same grow spot as my flux. The idea was to keep most of the other variables the same, which mainly are :
- The same strain
- Started in the same soil
- Transplanted in the same soil
- Lighted under the same lights (brand, wattage and distance from plant)
- Water at the same time every time, with the same RO water, enough for a 20% runoff for each.
- Same humidity
The only difference is, two of them I topped above the 3rd node, and 4 of them I topped above the 2nd node.
This way I can test which topping option is the best for these stretchy sativas, and should probably add some value to the flux journal once the flux arms start growing out.
And now we play the waiting game...
