Light Addict Tries To Get Grafting - Target Of One Mom With 15 Strains!

Very interesting. I don't do alot of reading but with atad of speed reading, I see you've been having success. That's cool. Way cool. I think I mentioned awhile back I had a friend who was trying grafting using a pot root stock with a hops top, and visa versa. I'm a thinking he said had some sucess, but it defeated his purpose of a thc laden hops plant. But that's really cool they accepted the graft. Keepem Green

Thats crazy good work the first one I was hooked but ,, that huge graft looks lovely :thumb:
So we can safely assume that root grafting would / could ,,work well for some strains that are maybe more fragile to grow in certain types of soil :)
For instance you could maybe grow a Rudralis plant in some thing other than Moroccan soil :)
Hope you got me I am a few sheets ta da wind;)

P.S. Any time you would like :Namaste:

LA you are the Man! :thumb:This is some really neat shit! Keep up the awesome work.:bravo: We'll be watching. Thank You Brother!!!:thanks::Namaste:

Love it my friend, Going to be hard to know which branch is which strain. I know you been marking them but, 15 in one is 'very intresting'. Going to be one your going to have to do a reveg, and have to reveg each individual branch. Going to be weird, say one takes 10 weeks and another 7-8 weeks. Guess you have a plant that keeps giving harvests for afew weeks.
Good deal. Keepem Green

Very impressed with your results.

Now that the grafts have taken, what are your plans for this plant?

Will you keep her in veg, and take your choice of cuttings. When needed? Or are you planning to grow her/them out?

If keeping in veg, how will you control growth?

The project I envision for myself is a multi-strain, bonsai mother. I'm just at the stage of selecting a cutting from my carnival grow for a riot stock. Two grow cycles from now, I have a 12 pack of Ace seeds tropical mix. If I can get make a plant which preserves the genetics from each seed that germinates, I envision all kinds of future fun.

Cheers! :peace::passitleft:

I have a 12 pack of Ace seeds tropical mix.

I have never tried any of that breeder's strains. But "tropical mix" caught my eye, and I just did a little web-searching. Apparently, their various mix packs change over time (which makes sense, since they are not really sold as "sampler packs," so to speak). IDK how recently your purchased yours - or, more importantly, how recently it was packaged by the breeder - so I have no idea whether or not the current description applies to your pack or not. But it reads "It mainly contains Central American sativas, Malawi genetics and Haze/Thai hybrids." That reads pretty awesome! Throw in some Indian subcontinent genetics and a couple more African strains and, who knows, you could end up breeding the next magical 20+ week flowering period sativa legend, lol.

The genetics from your mix pack should, in theory, make excellent grafted "neighbors" because they should all have approximately the same nutrient needs (reasonably low) and light needs (high - they are, after all, tropical sativas ;) ). OtOH, the "sweet spot" in terms of ambient humidity could vary widely, so there could be some minor issues. Regardless, it should be a grand adventure.

Hey my friend, OK so I'm never gonna really bother with her as a mom myself. I always grow from seed to be honest and this was only ever an experimentation for other peoples use! :) also it was just something I hadn't tried and not much actual info is posted on successful grafting of MJ so it was of interest to me. So I'll get her all grafted up with 15 or so and then veg for a month or so then flower out!
As for controlling growth rates of the differ strains, that easy as I'm using a flux as a base! I can just lower limbs or heighten them dependant on growth then let the plants own system sort out the rest! Higher become more dominant and ask for more juice! :)

So yep give me a cpl more weeks and it shall be in veg and then bamm! We should be flowering out 15+ on one plant! :)

Also I'll be honest I'm not happy one bit with this girl....! I had to grow out my donor plants in waves and this has hindered me no end. The next one will be started out fluxing soon, then after a few weeks I'll drop 30+ strains and then be able to graft them all on to my base withing a few weeks! I'll also make her a more perfect and pretty flux! :)
