Lexort's Kaneh Bosm CFL Garden

Hey BB thanks brother! So far the clones seem to holding up its been 5-6 days since i took them, i usually neglect the clones a little (by neglect i mean I only go in and spray the dome 1 time in 24hrs) but that's because 1. Im a little lazy and 2. Im not gonna screw with them too much by constantly checking on them and letting the humidity out lol. Where do you have your clones? Do you use rooting powder or gel? Do you have a dome and if so does it typically have condensation on it? Sorry for all the questions but i feel determined to help figure out how to get you some successfully rooted clones.

Thanks for the concern buddy, i appreciate the concern and wanna dial this whole process in too!:thumb: Welp I have the Cloner I made just sitting in my veg room, it s a home made jobie but seems to hold the humidity nicely...... My current issue, in my head, is I think the bottom of the stem is IN the water cuz I made a hole right through the rockwool. I think it might be getting too much moisture and not enough air...... Sound right?? Idk man!? They are still looking healthy but just no roots yet , I think! I use both the powder and gel, find the powder works better... Hahahaha, I meant to say the powdered ones last longer before the big F!
Here s a pic of what I have going on.

I used rockwool for two clones and the foam sleeve for one. Kinda diggn that foam sleeve!

So it is a bubble cloner with the plants in water? The cover of that mini chamber is clear. Do you think that the light in the root zone is inhibiting the root growing response?

They Shiggity thanks for sounding in, yea I did address that light issue with some "red green tape" Total cdn reference.... And covered it up. So with this rockwool, does a guy normally just put the clone in it like half way then let the rockwool just touch the water so it has to wick up or how does that work? I personally think I m not getting the right mix of water and air..... But i also don't know my ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to cloning! Does a guy want strong CFL light on the clones right away as well?

Sorry here's an up to date pic of what's going on...

So it's ok to submerge the stem, what about airation, did you have an air pump going too? That raft idea sound s pretty cool, nice!:thumb: Orrr should I just scrap this whole iderr and go with something more tried and true?!

I have had a really good success rate with the aerocloner. I have seen good success with the DIY water fogger cloners. I need to get a fogger and try again. The first fogger I bought on the Brazilian rainforest site just mostly spits water. I am interested in trying that method with a well functioning mister.

When I did the bubble cloner a long time ago I would use the long flat blue stones on a plastic base. They gave off a very fine mist. The finer the mist the better the oxygen exchange. I would hook up two in your setup with a "T" in the air tubing or one of those fancy splitters with valves to equalize the air flow for aquariums. They work great. Two stones misting champagne bubbles with stems in the water with those foam collars and you will get great roots.

Well i don't have any experience with rockwool but I do know you don't want a crap ton of light for clones, i just let my clones catch the indirect light from the lights that I use to veg my girls. That's a dwc cloner thing right? From the little bit ive read on them powder rooting hormones don't work out the best for them, can't really remember what is used for them might be superthrive but don't quote me on that. I'll do a bit of research for ya after i go to sleep and wake up im a little sleep deprived now lol. We'll get this yet BB!

Lexort I am here late too but here to stay. How could I resist the words of Robert Frost beckoning me here?

Hey there shiggityflip great to have you along! I really like your NOTM entry really nice close ups on the trichs! Haha ya it is hard to resist the call of robert frost! That's one of my favorites from him, i would have put my absolute favorite poem from him but its a bit longer lol, its called "The road not taken" . Anyways glad to have you along and once again thanks for honoring my little kaneh bosem garden with your presence. Good vibes your way!

Well quick flowering update it's day 41 now. I been enjoying watching them build up the buds still popping out bunches of white hairs.

Since I'm dabbling in 2L grows, I'm gonna pick your brain for a moment.

The astute Tead eyeball notices that some of your 2Ls are single cola'd and some have multi-colas. What's your thought process here? Do you have a preference after trying both in a 2L world?

This is the first time I've use duct tape over a plastic container. Do you ever get water trapped between the container and tape? Does it grow really nasty looking stuff?

Diggin me some My Sharona by The Knack this morning. I can still remember the album cover from one of their disks... mighty yummy!

Well tead if you are talking about this current bunch i have one that topped itself shortly after rooting so that wasn't on purpose lol but in the past when i was growing in 2-liters filled with a peat moss soil less mix i would LST almost every plant. So i guess my stance at this current time is as follows, if you are limited with plant numbers then the LST route is probably best my last LST plant's final weight was 14 grams done under cfls, now these current ones i expect to yield like the plants i harvested last which were barely LST'd and the two together yielded 18.something grams and they took less veg time and took up less space thus why im trying to get the timing right with the SOG style because I feel that in little spaces i am able to make the most of the space so if plant numbers don't matter i would go budcicle style. My flowering box is just 2 Rubbermaid 30 gallon totes put together so its not alot of space but doing SOG style allows me to put 15 plants in this space as opposed to the 3 lst'd plants i can get in the same space. I guess another deciding factor would be are you looking for a quick harvesting perpetual grow or do you not mind taking time to lst plants to make them bushy? Another thing is 2-liters are small containers so i figure you are gonna only make a plant so big before it does need a transplant so why not eliminate rootbound from the list of possible problems entirely and keep the lifes short. I flowered this current bunch immediately after they rooted and this works well for my little space. I will say i think you should try one LST'd and try one budcicle style and see which one you prefer. As much as i enjoy lst im lazy most the time so i prefer the sog style its a bud factory kinda i just gotta get the timing right in order to be where i wanna be. Hope this was understandable im pretty stoned lol :tokin: Btw good tunes indeed lol

I see the tracks carrying our trains of thought seem to be running parallel.
You have some challenges that, quite frankly, amaze me. The size. The lights. Awesome you can keep the ball rolling so well.
I don't have those factors in play, so my tracks diverge from yours somewhat.
In my own garden, I'm seeing a natural pace created by vegging large plants in large containers. Then, as I clip the large plant, create a stream of 2L plants to for an ongoing stream.
I can probably do about 6-8 2Ls in the same space as a 5g. My veg tent config will become one large center plant with a circle of 2Ls around it. When the big center plants takes up too much space, move it to flower.
I can envision a stand filling the veg tent with a hole in the middle for the 5g. Then I could put the 2Ls on the stand up closer to the lights and alleviate some of the light blocking issues.

Thanks for the mind dump!

No problem tead! And I like the sound of your idea! Had to read it a couple of times to make sure i understood lol. One thing i wanna be clear on is when you are talking about the 2-liters do you plan on LST'ing your plants or budcicle or natural Christmas tree bush? Just curious lol. Btw not sure what you mean by "You have some challenges that, quite frankly, amaze me. The size. The lights." Though but sounds like a good thing lol

Frankly, LST breaks the height of my lazy bar. I might tie some down a bit on occasion, but a full on LST seems a bit much. Christmas trees are the angle I'm shooting for.
By "challenges" I was referring to the grow chamber size and height. This makes the 2L containers perfect in your world... and I hope mine.
I think I'm already seeing root tightness. I notice a pretty thick mat of roots about 1/2" under the top of the medium. In larger containers, I see this at a deeper level somewhere under 1".

Well with one of my first grows i grew this
WP_20160121_02_15_37_Pro.jpg
like a Christmas tree in a two liter bottle and it had about a 4-5 week veg and then was flowered
Photo00385.jpg
here was it's main cola and here it is after i harvested its main cola cause it was ready first
Photo00513.jpg
Photo00472.jpg
by the time it was done i had to cut the 2-liter bottle off the plant cause it was no longer medium it was solid root. Wish i would have thought to take a picture back then it was so crazy. I hope I am making sense im pretty tore up from some qwiso i made lol.
