Lets Talk Coco! Organics & Salts

Yeah, I saw the post over there, but figured I'd ask over here, lol... and yeah, I saw your response and I agree about not trying to compost food products in a flower pot... bad idea from every point of view... compost needs mass and is crazy hot while going on... and I don't want my house smelling like rotten fruit, lol... but I like seeing all the organic coco stuff, it's cool to see organics applied to other mediums aside from soil.

I'm doing a coco/perlite grow. When transplanted, will be in 3gal buckets w/ lava rocks on the bottom, coco/perlite as body & hydroton on top...hempy drain hole.
Using GO trio, Super Thrive & hydrozyme.
I'm sure I'll hae mucho questions a this is my 1st grow away from soil.
Thanks for the v thread.

Here a shot of a nice coco root ball in Airpots. Love the pots and the coco.

Cheers. First time with both. Love the way the coco acts like soil to allow organic additives to be used well. I'm getting great flavour from the buds. The Airpot seam to work real well. I love the way the roots head to the holes.

my only problem with airpots is wilting i have to water every day with my girls once they get 2 ft tall not a problem with smart pots of at least 3 gal so ive not bought more airys just bigger smarts up to 7 gal now my range is 2-3 gal smarties for small 18 inches and under for larger and flower im using 5 gal buckets and 5-7 gal smarties i decided to try my 3 gal airpot again but my pineapple skunk got a little wilted yesterday but if i can keep up with it i do love em

Didn't experience wilting but I use a ceramic dripper so they never dry out to much. Just enough then the sensor lets more solution in.

Nice. Great to let them decide how much they want. Especially in coco I reckon. Plus they always need some moisture as its basically hydro with water retention.
The dripers I'm trying are the Tapt Blumat ceramic. They work very well, German engineering. Lol. I also put a presure drip feed for the heaver nuts that I flood them with once a week. The dripers take care the rest of the week. I need this as I'm away a lot. Here's my watering setup

Very cool! I ended up putting a rubbermaid roughneck in there and letting it sit in the soup overnight to get fully hydrated, I want to build a drip system and do a steady with run to waste for my coco, soil is another story,LED yet another, but I got a bug to do some passive hydro again with my many gallons of 2 &3 part nutes w/bloom boosters dark matter etc,I guess tho I won't be able to talk about the brand when ppl ask. I always had such great results and it was simple, add,Ph,feed done!, has anybody here ever used hydroton in a passive or hempy, ? I have a 50 lb bag of hydroton and can't do buckets/Dwc as I ALWAYS get pithium/root Rot no matter what I do,ok that's another question for another area,

I use hydroton in the bottom 2" of yhe hempy bucket & a layer on top. The layer on top keeps the coco from drying out.

I can't wait to figure out a better way to put seedlings out of the paper towels and into the coco. I guess I should call em popped beans. The 55 gallon drum has two bales that i threw in some cal mag with the water, will slightly flush with some 1/4 strength bloom food. I will know when I get it, mycos of course. Yeah I added two gallons of manure based compost tea.
simple my friend germanate in rockwool cubes dampen then with a stable ph and add root stimulator when you put seed into rockwool leave for at least 2 days its got to be warm and dark when they shoot up in rockwool cubes and tap root is comming out of bottom hit them into pots 4 times with 12 perfect seedlings

Subbed :). About to start my first EVER grow in the next week or 2. Coco n clay pebbles being my medium(s) of choice. Hopefully I'm going to learn a lot from you guys :) Already getting a great deal of help from Zoot n Fatty :)

I have made the switch.I had no real problem's in soil but I think I can kill it coco.I was just wondering if anyone used Roots organics elemental for the cal/mag issues? Thank you Jimmy6K
i have used that brand coco, (not my favorite) i just use a crap ton of minerals now and dont see the calmag issue anymore
azomite, gypsum, garden lime, calcium carbonate, diotomaceous earth and lots of mykos

Hi B.I.D (and others :) )
Thanks for the welcome :) My set up so far consists of a 2.8m long x 1.9m wide x 1.9m high home built timber framed "tent". I've lined it with a mixture of diamond reflective mylar and reflective 3mm thick radiator insulation (including the floor :) ). I have 3 (soon to be 4 ) 600w hps lights (un cooled because outside temp is going below 0c very soon up here). I have an 8" (200mm) ruck fan for exract but am waving regards intake (I want good neg pressure). I also have a ph meter (water), ph/moisture meter (soil/media), ec/ppm truncheon, hygrometer and 3 oscillating fans. My plan for the grow is 18 first generation cuttings (9 each of AK48 and White Widow). I was thinking 6 weeks veg then flip (8-9 weeks flower I guess). Nute :MoreNutes:wise I've got Canna A+B, Rhiz and PK13/14. I'm aiming for 5.8ph (very hard water here so I also have some ph down). Humidity, Temperature and PPMs are my gray areas though.........any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance :)
