Let's pick a SSH male!

I regenerated a male. Trimmed all the old growth off and had it back growing good. Even in veg after that it always had pods opening up with pollen. Not many and not much, it wasn't trying to bud. It was still there though. That ended my keep a breeder male thoughts LOL.

More and more I am seeing myself working with only keeper females as they show up. I used to need to make seeds. That was thousands of dollars worth of genetic ago. If I just work with the best keepers of the best 20 strains I have that's more genetics than I will ever be able to go through. I can't even figure out what the best 20 strains I have are LMAO.

Saving pollen from a few select males from strains like SSH can then be used for clones if a regular hybrid is wanted.

I got a chance for a couple quick picks of the males. That and growth numbers.

Billy is back in the lead with better branching and less stretch. It was the taller of the 2 last check. At 24" it is now 4" shorter. Bud formations look the same but Billy has close internodes. My guess is this is a Northern Lights pheno with so little stretch.

Bob on the other hand stretched like a MF lol. It is now 28" internode spacing has spread out a lot. With the stretch and the huge leaves this may be a Haze pheno.

I still hope one separates itself a little more some how.

I had to go back and get the numbers from when I first measured the males. Time was 10 days between measuring them.
Billy stretched only 4.5" in that amount of time. Bob went big and stretched a total of 11". The branching stayed good with both plants before I trimmed them down to work with them. Billy's branches reach out a little farther. One new trait I learned to look at. It will help open plants up for light.

The plan is probably to save both plants. They are showing me to many different things right now to decide. If something big happens that may change. That also will mean I will need to bred at least one plant with both males to see what the differences are. I can then move on with more knowledge. One could hope I store the pollen well enough for it to last for a year or so.

I am hoping my summer project works out and I never have to worry about a male again. More and more I am wanting to slow my breeding down to only a few certain plants as they show up. For now I will keep growing regular genetics to reverse those genetics. I have not had great luck with feminized strains yet. One day I will self a feminized strain with success. When that happens I won't need to worry about regular hybrids anymore.

Plant numbers really matter to me. Growing regular strains can really screw things up. I now have 3 plants less than I thought I would have. I do have them filling the grow space so maybe it won't matter. Them SSH females are going to have lots of room to do what they do. I hope I can keep them fed enough.

I'm almost done with fems. I've been sifting through my seed stash last few runs. Grown dozen or so strains from multiple different breeders and my results have been regs are much more stable than fems. I've had few fems from different breeders throw nanners like crazy. My regs not at all. I'll stick with the fems I already have, paid for. But won't be buying anymore. I'd rather sort through regs nonstop than worry about hermi pollen contamination in tents LMAO

I've only had Hermy from one breeders genetics

Regs are fun...but damn takes sooooo many plants to grow good ones

I'll be working on finding a mother of some of MY strains then creating fem seeds

Much easier in the long run

It seems much easier than regs. Maybe I've just had bad luck. But they were all in tent with plants that won't kick out nanners run after run. I'm just not tolerate to worrying about seeds/pollen when I have strains that are totally stable

Like Seedsman Genetics, my only hermied plants, I'll be watching every one I grow for awhile

Besides that, I never worry at all

So just don't use the genetic you have had issues with

Now regs are fun... Creating strains is my hobby

I was mostly referring to the seeds I would be making. I do like some of my feminized strains. Maybe some for breeding. Mostly it is easier to breed greatness in a set up like mine. If I regenerate and breed only with and too my favorite plants.

In the long run growing from seed is always handy. Having my choice of my own feminized seeds to choose from would be perfect. I have tons of genetics to grow and look at along the way. As I look at males along the way I may get lucky someday and find a true winner.

I'm doing this right now. I just finished a crop and man it was stressful not only did I not know the sex of them but one hermie and affected 2 plants. Jordan of the Island breeder, also got TMV from there too. Now I have my seedlings and they aren't feminized. There is 10, so sadly I figure I will end up with 4 maybe 5 girls. Such a long process, then you have to wait for them to grow become Mothers, shred them and start it all over again. I would do it again to start a strain, because I do think the ones that are girls are stronger possibly and then I have boys again. I need my light back from the boys room for the mothers. So I think I will just buy fem for a bit till I get my wind back in my sail again. I still want to experiment with Colloidal Silver I bought last fall. So I think that will be my next adventure... I'll live through you for a while and learn some more.

today we have updates on the males. Bob is still stretching but it looks like it might produce trichomes so it may not matter lol. If it does it gets the nod stretch or not.

You can almost make out trichomes on the outside of the pods in the close up. Something to keep a eye on.

Billy is still the better plant growth wise.

All the plants I am considering pollinating are going to be short and bushy. Adding extra stretch should not hurt them much. If Bob continues to look this way I will probably be using him stretch or not.

I guess I should mention. Bob won! I will post a few pictures to finish this up. Bob carried trichomes and continues to make more. I have yet to be able to get a close enough picture to show them. They are lots smaller then the ones on females.

Bob stretched more than I would like. Still the fact that it is carrying trichomes is the only reason I am keeping it. I don't know how common this amount is. I need to look at a whole shit ton more males to see what is rare and what is not. I do know at the time I cut down Billy it showed none of what I am seeing. I have to move Bob to do it but I am going to try one last time to get pictures. I hate moving males around but there is no pollen yet so I will give it a try.

Here is what I came up with. I got the pictures I was looking for. As I mentioned before I looked with a scope at both males. Bob is the only one that looked like this. The fact that the trichomes are cloudy is one reason that they are so hard to get pictures of them. This plant only had a few of these last week this week they are everywhere.

The one thing I still don't know is if I will get to use it this run. I sure hope I see pollen soon. If not I will be saving it. There was lots of stretch, this plant was not the bushiest, and it doesn't have a much smell. All reasons not to use it for breeding. I am pretty sure the trichomes trumps all that stuff and wins out. I now need to see how it breeds.

I have not look at many males so I don't know how rare this is. I know this is the most trichomes I have seen on a male before. I need to keep looking for a picture that shows the stalks of the trichomes. Mostly you just see a cloudy round ball. these pictures do capture them fairly well
