Let's Find a Mother! Hiking Through a Field of Mary Jane

I'm unsure myself honestly. All variables I tend to address whenever I get to doing the study. As for pollinating a lower branch that defeats the purpose. U want her to hey for pollen but not get it. There's validity there. Look how far sensi (seedless) took the scene. Ill have more on it sometime. It'll be a while I'm sure. Lots on the plate ATM

I've done it, the rest of the plant is seedless, the other buds are unaffected.....and normal size.......just curiosity, but how wuld that defeat the purpose?

VIRGIN tears. She's weeping cause she wants it so bad... but u don't give it to her. If she's not a virgin she's no reason to cry.

Unless its because her uncle...
Too far?

I have never heard of anything like this, generally any smell or terpine is used to attract or repel; pollinators, seed distributors, detrimental pests..respectively...interesting!

It seems like some sort of sap to me. Isn't that usually used to repair wounds? Maybe it's also a repellent against pests. I can't imagine it attracting pollinators. I think the flowering structures are the only place that sort of thing happens.

It most certainly IS interesting! I've been watching the drops. They appear to be drying somewhat amber in color. I'll see if I can get some good pictures when I take them off the string. That will probably be tonight.

My big hope is that I can get this strain to do it again. This is one of my best plants, so I'll likely be growing a lot of clones of this one. :)

Way cool on the harvest there Hiker. Looks like you got a nice load of buds coming off the line. Congratulations and Keepem Green

Thanks! :thanks:
They sure looked pretty hanging up down there. Still have 2 more plants that haven't had any harvest yet, Blueberry and White Widow. All the lower buds seem to be fattening up quicker than I had hoped, so hopefully I will get the whole room finished up in the next week.

Glad you stopped by! :Namaste:

I wasn't suggesting to put a flowering male in there. I meant I could put a father in there for a couple weeks and then remove him.
:yummy:

hahaha i have this same pic and said the same thing....

Yes, that image can be a blessing and a curse.

Thanks for stopping by :Namaste:

Man i wish my buds looked like that hanging up. Looks great bro

4.7oz my guess

Thank you! I'm sure you'll get buds that nice. You're on your way. :)
Guess recorded.

ummmmm... maybe

:goodjob: real class grow bro

Thank you sir! :Namaste:

I'm pretty proud of it for a sort of debut grow in a new space after a 15+ year hiatus.

Thanks for staying with me on this long journey. I've been taking pictures as I start jaring up the buds. My environment is MUCH drier than when I grew in San Diego. 4 days on the string was a little longer than I should have left the Critical. It's fine, but I used to jar while it was a little wetter. I jared up 3 more plants last night, and they were the perfect dryness. The rest will go into jars tonight or tomorrow.

Wednesday is the day I try to always load pictures. I only have 2 today, but they are bud porn :)

This is the Royal Queen Critical plant just before being de-stemmed and put into jars. She dried a little more than I wanted before getting jarred. The buds are fine, they weren't crispy or anything, but it got drier faster than I expected in the new environment.

This is the AK-48 about 30 minutes ago. I jarred it last night, along with 3 other plants. The others just needed to be burped, but this one felt a little wetter than the others, so I spread them out for a little while. I'll jar them back up in a few hours.

Something exciting happened yesterday... The cops came! :yikes::trance::bitingnails:

I have a deck off my second story master bedroom. It has stairs leading down to the backyard. I normally have the stairs blocked, so we will leave the sliding door open so the dogs can go hang out there if they want. Our yard isn't fenced yet, so I can't leave them outside unless I lock them in their dog run.

Yesterday I had opened the door for them without realizing I had moved the board that blocks their escape. I was going up to my bedroom for something else and noticed the door open, so I decided to check on the dogs. I walk out there, and no dogs.

I start calling them, and the little one is coming back right away. While I'm up there trying to spot the other one, I think I see a cop over at the neighbor's house. It was just a glimpse out of the corner of my eye, and I couldn't see him anymore, so I didn't think much of it. As I begin to head down the stairs to look for the missing dog, the cop starts driving down the alley from the neighbors house. I'm immediately a little nervous. Then he turns into my back driveway and I get REAL nervous! I decide to be proactive, so I walk to engage him as far away from the house as possible.

Apparently my neighbor called the cops because of my dog. I already knew he was a bit of a dick, but now I have real concrete reason not to like him. The cop and I chatted for several minutes. He explained that the neighbor claimed to have called them several times, but the cop acknowledged he wasn't aware of any prior calls. He also claimed to have spoken to me about it "a few times". He talked to me once, very briefly, from the inside of his truck while in the alley. The most ironic part to me is that the dog doesn't even go on his property. He runs through the neighbor's yard directly behind me (asshole neighbor is diagonal across the alley). I explained that my dogs rarely escape. I pointed out the dog run that I use to lock them outside when needed, and that they were never outside unsupervised any other time. I then proceeded to point out that his kids (I think they have 8? there are a LOT of them) play with the dogs. The kids came over everytime they saw the dogs when they first moved in last fall. The dad told them to stay out of my yard, so now they just tell the dogs "hi", but they use their names, so it's like they are calling the dogs. I asked the officer how I'm supposed to explain to a dog that they shouldn't go over to the kids when they call. I told him we only bought the house last year and have plans to put in a fence this summer (all true!).

He was pretty friendly about everything. He explained that our city has leash laws and fines, but that he was not going to fine me. He said he was giving me the benefit of the doubt, and then asked about the big quonset building on my property. I managed to keep him pretty far from the house during this whole time, so I am pretty confident he didn't smell anything. I had smoked not long before, so if he did smell anything, it would probably have been me. Luckily, it's not illegal to smoke in WA anymore. :)

So nothing really happened, but I was pretty worried for awhile. After we were done talking, he sat in his car much longer than I liked before he left, but he did eventually drive away. :phew:

oh man that is a scary story my friend.
had something similar happen awhile back and my state is not friendly. needless to say I had to refill my heart Medication LOL the next day:)

Those little tests keep our blood pressure in check. It's going to be strange 'NOT' to have to look over our shoulders. Also going to take alittle of that Mystic of doing something illegal and getting over away. But after all's said and done, time to spark some blood pressure meds. +Rep's+ and Keepem Green

Cops came to your house? That's pretty much my biggest fear.

A month or so ago, Mrs Hiker and I were getting ready to go out for 'date night', and someone got pulled over by a cop and pulled into our front driveway! Was not a comfortable feeling having my whole house lit up with the red and blue lights! We had tickets to see a local performance of Wizard of Oz that night. When we got there, we were early. My wife was so paranoid, we actually drove back home to make sure the cops had left.

Alright bro, perfect, just keep smilin!:bravo:

I had a big 'ol smile the whole time.

I've found that a smile can have a HUGE impact on someone's first impression of you. Whenever I'm meeting a person for the first time, I make a conscious effort to smile big and make eye contact. I'm not a "people person" in general, so it may sound shallow that I have to fake interest sometimes. A few years ago, I had to get braces in anticipation of getting a bridge put in. It's only now that I have a "perfect smile", that I'm able to notice that many people, myself included on some level, treat you differently based on your smile. It's not all people, and it's usually a small effect, but I have noticed it.

Anyway, the point of all that was, I think my straight teeth affected the officer's first impression of me to my benefit. I imagine his internal dialogue going something like, "well, his smile tells me that he's not some low life meth addict, so maybe he's OK". Ya, so I always smile big when I have to deal with cops. :)

Damn. Glad that worked out man.!

Me too! I'm just hoping it's my last interaction with any members of law enforcement.

Ya gotta be so careful when your neighbors a DICK.

It does suck to have a shitty neighbor. They just moved in last Fall, so my impression of him is not based on much yet. I've literally had 2 interactions with him, and both times he was an ass. I didn't realize how much of one until I could look back with the benefit of hindsight. My big dog is black, so there is no way the neighbor can see him at night. I think I'm going to try and train him to shit on his yard at night. :)

That's how I'm trying to look at it. It was a valuable test. Obviously I'm controlling odor adequately. :)

I know what you mean about what's gonna change. I care less about the law and more about the propaganda. I want to see the media's attitude change. They are still trying to promote big industry's agenda, but at least now they are also reporting on the change in sentiment among the citizens. Using MJ in this current sociological climate, has all sorts of affects on our personalities. Through the very nature of prohibition, we're forced into being, at least on some levels, outsiders within society. This has all kinds of impacts on how we view and interact with the rest of society, some good, some bad.

It will certainly be interesting to watch how things change in the next few years. I feel pretty lucky to be in WA, but at the same time, I have my concerns about how they may implement the new laws. That's not even considering the whole 5 ng/mL issue. My biggest concern is they pull something like what's happening in Canada. Tell everyone it's legal and get us to signup for licenses. Then they change their minds and they now have a list of everyone to go bust. No thanks. I'll not be filling out any paperwork to let the govt know I grow. :blalol:

On a different note...
I want to thank everyone that's voted for me in the MotM contest. I looked at it last night and was shocked to see I was ahead in the poll. I'm really humbled and flattered, and want to tell you all thank you. There is still plenty of time for things to change though, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. :thanks:

Cops came to your house? That's pretty much my biggest fear
oh man about a month and a half ago.
sitting here on :420: and just got done burning one down. it was a nice day so I went to open the window.
I looked out and saw 2 cruisers parked outside. each facing the other direction in the street so they could talk to each other. didn't think much about it but I didn't open the window.
all of a sudden another came and parked a crossed the street. he got out of the car and was talking on his cell phone. then came a unmarked car from the other direction and parked right in front of my drive. then another behind him.
I was like going wtf. then came another and another. last but not least another cruiser came and this cop got out and opened the back door of the car and the biggest giantest German Sheppard got out.
all I could think was SHIT they are going to bust me for 3 crumby plants. the house wreaked of MJ and I couldn't even open the window to air it out a bit. now I have heart problems and it was pounding 80 miles a minute and nothing I could do but wait for it to come. I was chowing on heart pills like M&Ms
anyway a guy was hiding across the street behind a house and when he saw all the POPO he took of running. that's when the K9 got released and all the cops took chase away from my house. dont know what he done but I sure didn't go out and ask.
needles to say it scared the poopy out of me :)

yeah and feed him or her all kinds of nasty stuff so it turns to goop:)
Please get your dog to shit on his lawn at night. he deserves it. lol

Right on hiker glad your all good and your harvest looks great. thanks for the reps too.
reps right back at ya.

Yha shit happens :rofl::rofl:
