Let's Find a Mother! Hiking Through a Field of Mary Jane

:bravo:REPs to you
I've been lurking in the dark corner of the basement, fascinated by your grow.
Since nobody else picked it I'll guess 4.20 OZ and more on the way :bravo:

Thanks Fishy :Namaste:

Congrats on the nom hiker!!

wiw!

Thanks Vick! wiw! :)

what Vick said:)

Thanks again Fishy

4.25 is my guess

Recorded. Although that will be a 4.3 guess since my scale only does tenths.

5 oz's

Wheres the fkin pictures ? ;) :blunt:

I just posted some! LOL
oh well here are a couple more.

I think you will hit your mark. you got da skills to pay da bills I know it. haha

congrats on the nom as well my brother you definitely deserve it. +reps

Thanks Shotta! :Namaste:

Here are a couple pics of this weekends harvest. We did a first pass on 8 plants.

Here are the buds done this weekend. It's 3 rows of string. Each row is ~7' long.

In this pic you can see the string with Thursday's harvest (RQ Critical) in the background.

Check this out. I've never seen this before. AFAIK this is the only plant doing this. I noticed it a week or two ago.

There are large drops of a liquid or sap coming out of 2 buds on one of the plants. I tasted it, and it's sweet. I've never seen this. I'm sorry my camera couldn't really get a better picture.

There are still 2 plants left to harvest, the Blueberry and White Widow. The WW is the half plant that was sharing the bucket. It really doesn't even look close to done. It's kind of a weird looking plant. I have no clone of it, and that's fine. The Blueberry is close, but it looked the least ready, so we never got to it. I might wait a few more days on that one. All the others are back in the room to let the bottoms ripen up a bit.

I was pushing it a bit to get everything out before our son comes to visit, but I'm no longer going to worry about that. If I'm still harvesting, I'll just do it in the basement instead of carrying the plants upstairs. The key point I'm trying to make is I've decided not to push the harvest schedule based on his visit anymore. Those bottoms may need a couple more weeks to ripen up, so I will wait.

The harvest was certainly helpful in mother selection. I've not culled any potential mothers yet, but I am certainly forming some preferences. Out of necessity, the next crop will be a variety of strains again, but I took extra clones, so I will be sure to include all the clones of my favorites and fewer of those I like less. I'm really looking forward to working with some of these strains/phenos and really seeing how much I can push them.

Anyway... That's it for today. I'm slammed with work this week, so not sure how much I'll be around. Our IT staff consists of 2 people, and we're both taking vacation time in the next few weeks, so we're pushing to finish up a couple projects before that.

The sap.drops are a very God sign. "Virgins tears" occur in more rapidly evolving strains. Thought to be a last ditch effort to add some "sticky" in hopes of catching male pollen and continuing the legacy. I am planning an experiment regarding the matter in the future. Could be coincidence but I've only ever seen it occur in grows wheremales were present. I suspect much like when we know a lady is in he room the plants can "sense" if u will. That a male is there. Less stable strains may herm but the more stable on occasion seem to instead think "here must he somehing wrong with me as I've caught no pollen (its sole intent in nature) and in theory adjusts accordingly.

Kinda like plant pheromones ??? I think plants need the lovin' too, right? :cheesygrinsmiley:

Maybe pollinate a single bud on the bottom and let her think she's pregnant, if a person wanted to try it.

mmmm budjuice sounds delightful :yummy:
congrats on nom, a worthy contender good luck.

Thanks Dasher :)
It's pretty tasty! In hindsight, I kinda wish I had left those 2 buds on and tried to collect more of it. The first time I spotted it last week, I removed most of it tasting it, but it came back. I'm curious to see what will happen to it while it dries. I have them hung in a way that I can monitor them easily. I plan to grow 4 of this plant in the next run (max amount). Let's hope I can get them to do it again and conduct some experiments.

Reps! Nice harvest!

Thanks Wiz! :thanks:

hmmmm.... so that would mean the males are giving off something in addition to the pollen? I suppose there could be some sort of pheromone action happening. How would the female sense, or 'smell', whatever the mystery substance is? I have to say I'm skeptical of the theory, but this room DID have male present for awhile. Would the male have to be flowering? I do have 2 father plants. I could stick those into the room and pull them before they can make any pollen as an experiment next round, but I'm not sure I want to do that. Maybe I'll do a test without males this next round.

What happens in the grow room, stays in the grow room.

Basically yeah :) its only a theory but it seems like a pretty solid one IMO. Ill get around to it someday

I'll do my part to contribute to the research. :)

So have you had plants do this? This plant happens to be one of my preferred phenos of my TGA Apollo13xVortex, and one of my favorite plants in general, so I'll be growing a lot of this plant in the future. Lots of opportunity for it to do this again.

I'm just hoping I can make some cannasyrup. How good would that be on a waffle?!?!

I have never heard of anything like this, generally any smell or terpine is used to attract or repel; pollinators, seed distributors, detrimental pests..respectively...interesting!

Way cool on the harvest there Hiker. Looks like you got a nice load of buds coming off the line. Congratulations and Keepem Green

I'm unsure myself honestly. All variables I tend to address whenever I get to doing the study. As for pollinating a lower branch that defeats the purpose. U want her to hey for pollen but not get it. There's validity there. Look how far sensi (seedless) took the scene. Ill have more on it sometime. It'll be a while I'm sure. Lots on the plate ATM
