Lemon Paradise's Little Garden - Perpetual

Try growing outdoor.... My trainwreck just vegged until she was about 4 feet tall... Im worried about how tall she will get...

DAMN THE SUN! Why wont it switch to 18/6 until I tell it to flower my girls out!?!?
Hold your horses there Skii ... share the road , um, SUN.:) My outdoor Haze Mist just showed preflower today so I hope to harvest in 9 wks :wood:... else I would have the hassle of force flowering outside.

 Yes. lol. I was seriously contemplating force flowering my girls because I just went out and checked on em, and the tallest one has almost reached the top of the 8ft enclosure. and it hasnt even started showing true flowers yet. just a bunch of pre-flowers. Its scary....

But at least I know what my plans are for the next year or so.... :grinjoint:;)RoorRip:grinjoint:;)RoorRip

7ft tall and hadnt started flowering yet.... that guy is in for a MASSIVE surprise in the next few weeks.... ;)

Skii, you better start tying them babies down before they are in full flower. They just might grow another 2 feet before harvest. I am going to check out your grow so I can kneel before such splendor.

so, seriously, I am reading and wondering,, how would you force flower, outdoors?

I mean it was all fun and games joking about turning the sun off.. but can you force flower an outdoor plant? would you cover it in some way?

You can actually (with a setup like mine at least where I have a semi-greenhouse like enclosure) just take a black tarp of some sort and cover the plants to control their light. I have a fellow herb enthusiast here that was telling me about it. but to be honest... sounds like a pain in the ass. So im just letting them go all naturaaaal.

But... I need to do some tieing for sure. Im just not sure where to tie them to... space is rapidly becoming an issue for me again...

And actually, its funny, above in THIS journal, there was talk of super cropping/bending and whatnots... I may have to attempt this soon....

How Do I Tie Down My Outdoor Plant?

and a pic of an example and my results:

I was planning to use large plastic bags tripled to drape the bush at night but I don't know if that will work for Zens monsters. I say drive some 4 posts of sorts and then cover with a tarp.

If you tried to cover them everyday, it would be in a pain in the behind. And if you forgot to uncover them in the early morning it would be a disaster. You could very easily destroy them.

yup... lol, that was the only way I could imagine that,, if someone had a grenhouse and covered the glass, manually or mechanized,,,

right now, I have been using those bamboo stakes,, and zip ties,, I tied the string to the zi tie, and then zip tie the bamboo stake, just below a joint, so it won't slide up the pole.. I'll try ot get a shot and post it tomorrow

you could also drill small holes in the rim of the pot, and either tie to that, or use a paper cip or something to give you an easy way to get the rope on and off..

that's pretty cool,, oh, and the aren't my monsters..lol I ws sommenting on a new guy from NH, he mentioned his girls were 7ft outdoors and not flowering yet,, lol he in for a big surprise.. :)

that would blow... and yeah, it sounds like a big pain in the a$$

oh, I got some new stuff to combat the gnats,, has something,, starts with a pry... or something,, anyways we'll see... my biggest stupidity was thatI was leavig the bag of soil in the room,,, DoH!, I treated all the pots and stuff, but forgot about the bag, figuring it was wrapped up in another garbage bag... so I just kept the infestation going... I also read that the larve are attracted to potato, so I am going to put some slices on each pot, and toss them and replace every 3 days...

another interesting thing is the 1024's, 2 different seeds, but supposedly same genetics...

when they were young, my buddy thought one ws a male and one female because they looked different,, one had more of a sharp saw-tooth edge, and the other a rounded saw-tooth edge to the leaves, and one grew taller and lankier than the other..

well both are female, one got put on flower almost a week earleir than the other becauseit was getting tall, and now, that one is just as tall as the sharksbreath, (about 5 ft) and the other one is only about 3 ft... very different growth rate/style,,, is it becasue it might have been a young/early breed, and not uniform in charachteristics yet?

I gotta go read about breeding and generations and that f1-f2 thing,,, but just haven't yet..lol some of the threads and links I have gone to are just long and technical,, now I am an IT guy, so dry technical crap is what I read all the time,, but sometimes I just can't do t,, :Hookah:) so, if someone can give the cliff notes version,,,, that would be cool .. lol

Looking Great Herb Zen! I have been reading up on breeding and back crossing for genetics and such, if you breed a true stabilized strain with another it will produce an F1 hybrid. If you breed those F1 seeds with another of those F1 plants you will get an F2 hybrid and multiple phenotypes. So the F1 seeds should be pretty similar but the F2 seeds will grow into all sorts of different types. You can back cross by inbreeding for specific characteristics of a strain but that takes awhile since you need to completely flower 4-6 sets of plants at least.

But uh if that doesn't make any sense let me know ;)

cool, thanks Langa..

I forgot to take pics this weekend,, was busy with the pool and stuff. everything is growing out of site... real crazy. The oil experiment, is still,,,, an experiment,, lol

In the thread, the guy used 80 proof vodka, I think the lower alcohol content just gets the thc out?,, so his mix, when poured into the pans, were already a golden color.

I used ISO, 91% alcohol, so I think I got all the stuff out of the leaves, and more solids than I would have with the vodka,, so since there is alot more solid stuff in it, I think I will end up with hash,,,, it is still a goo,, we willl scrape it off tonight or tomorrow, and I'll take a pic,,

Oh, I moved my ballast out of my room, drilled a hole, and put it on the ceiling,, then covered the hole back up.. first day, high temp was 84 instead of 88,, we will see if it continues...

Hey Chrome,,, I will try to get some tonight,, and post some up tomorrow..

I got a set of yoyo's as well,, but the cord seems awfully flimsy to me, and it ended up holding my light just a little lower than my rig with pulleys and cleats,, so I left it the was it was,,, I'll use the yoyo's on the LED's in the veg cab I think...

Thanks Langa,,, now I can also try the 'super lumens' feature of the ballast,,,
it had gotten so much hotter when running at 600W vs 400W, I was afraid to kick it up to that 'super lumen' setting, thinking it will get even hotter,,, but I could use that extra 10% of light in the room right now...

anyone use that feature on a digital ballast? how does it effect the lifespan of ballast/bulb?

oh, I found 3 pics in my blackberry,, so I might as well upload them.....

This shows my light, and hi tech odor control :), as you can see,, I cannot get it any higher,, to the right, you can see the cords from the ballast after I moved it...
IMG484.jpg

this is the shorter 1024, it is about 12-15 inches lower than the light,,, so about 3.5 ft or so..? It was started at the same time as the other,, but spent an extra week in the veg cab, so it is a week behind the other in flower..
IMG482.jpg

this is a pic, showing the taller one,, it is taller than the light that the other one was under..

Those 1024 look great, I will have to look into that strain when I order seeds. One thing I forgot to mention in my last post was about your iso hash, the longer you leave the plant matter in the alcohol the more chlorophyll and other non-THC chemicals get solved out. I have heard to shake the alcohol and leaves/stems together for no longer than a few minutes and then strain to get that golden honey color oil. Your oil/hash should still have the THC, just a bit of extra 'junk' that made its way in. So it might taste a bit green but should do the trick ;)

I don't know what to do with myself, I just found out I have a female Xena waiting back home for me. Getting the itch!
