Lembatoast's 2017 - Last Hurrah - Grow Journal

HG, I just Fimmed them and plan to stretch the side branches and Scrog. So I went up to do some Hill Prep., and look who was there to greet me a good day.

This is not the longest one I've got but it is the fattest. You cant tell in this pix but it just finished eating a big ass rat. Every day is just a thrill ride. It's so cool.

OH-MY-GOD!!!! F*CK ME! That's some serious critter action lemba :thedoubletake::thedoubletake::thedoubletake::thedoubletake:

That's a beautiful rattlesnake! They're excellent predators for keeping mice numbers down, and even if you're unlucky enough to get bitten it just hurts like hell and you're unlikely to croak.

Oh yes. crotalus Atrox. But if Toast is in the high Desert it could be a Crotalus Skutalatus. (Not sure on spelling) the Latter has all three types of venue, so you bleed out, but don't know it because you can't breath because your nerves are paralyzed. If you live through that, there is the deep tissue necrosis to deal with. Nothing like rotting from the inside.
But if it's just a Western Diamondback, then you only have the necrosis, unless you are sensitive, then you die.

What the HELL man, that's disgusting, I could of done with out that. How ever most people go to the Hospital and get Anti-Venom and nothing like that happens. Man that's some sick shit. Any way I have been up prepping the hill and as you know I eliminated the 6 plant area and turned it into a 2 plant area. The first hole was a piece of cake. The second hole how ever was a different story. After 3 days, putting in 1 hour 3 times a day this is how much I got done.
DSCN09227.JPG
I've been using this 35 lb steel bar to break up the dirt.
DSCN09246.JPG
I hauled it down to the garage and used my Die Grinder to sharpen both ends.
DSCN09257.JPG
DSCN09265.JPG
DSCN09279.JPG
Now if you look where I put the white wire, that is the head of a gigantic bolder and its different then the igneous rock that's normally in this soil. It barely chips. Sharpening the bar did absolutely nothing.
DSCN09287.JPG
I through that bar at that rock as long as I could, then said Fuck This.
DSCN09307.JPG
I broke up the surrounding dirt and filled it back in.
DSCN09338.JPG
That took about 2 1/2 hours. Now just 30 holes to go. I must be getting old, cause I would have had all this crap done by April 1st any other year. I SUCK. TOAST

Sorry Toast. I spend a lot of time around those things, and I have nightmares about getting bit.
You cannot take them lightly, they can do real damage.

No shit man. That makes me sick to look at it, and I'm not usually bothered by that stuff. And now it's attached to your signature so when you pop up so does it. Nasty!

A big old rock like that, the technique that works best is to hit it with a 3 lb sledge and a big chisel in the same spot about 40 times and see if it cracks. Smashing real hard doesn't work as well a multiple small taps. The upgrade from that is to drill and feather it. If you want to smash it in one blow, an iron bar won't do it, you would need dynamite - and you'd need to undercut or drill into it to set the dynamite.

Filling in the hole and digging elsewhere also works :)

I chose a fairly tame picture. Some were real bad.

It's been so Beautiful here and I need the room to take more clones, so I put some of the Mothers out side and am Lighting them from 7 pm - 1 am.

It's been 79 - 81 degrees during the day and 61 - 63 at night. Just awesome. TOAST

Your carpet is so green and clean. Did you leaf blower and hose off before the picture?

81 day and 62 night is a great temp to be growing - and a pretty good time to be out in the yard. Enjoy the season!

Radogast, believe it or not, I roll the carpet and shake it from one end to the other then collect the spilt soil and put it back in the pile. It's to expensive to just leaf blow it away. Here's a little update. These are all my plants.

Here are the mother's I put out side to make room for clones.

I don't think these UD X PR's were the best chose to SCROG with, but there coming along slowly but surely. Well that's my EXCITING Update. Later TOAST

I totaly believe you rock and roll that carpet to reclaim soil. You live in California. I grew up in California. We respect the valiue of water and soil. Ground zero for recycling, soil management, and clean air standards. That said, I've got a lot of finesse with my weed wacker and leaf blower. These aren't just lawn tools, they work for soil reclamation and responsible gardening. My wife saw me take 2 hours to weed whack the garden yestrday. She complimented me on how I saved the violet flowers while whacking down that good for (almost) nothing grass. :)

I'm out in the midwest now, and I have dug 2' deep into the yard - the soil is still black gold 2' down. After the crappy soil and weather of Massachusetts I am totally stoked about vegetable and flower gardening. I'm not a fan of the torandos and high winds, but the soil and sun here is fantastic. :)

Those WIlls and SLH look pretty good, but even in a group shot, those Ultra Dawg crosses look like something special. As soon as I hit enter, I'm going to pour me a Johnny Walker and smoke me some AK47 to toast your grow. Be well my brother. :) Give a hug to your mom if she is a hugging kind of person.

That's Planter #1 and those are two RBG's ( Robert Bergman's Gold Leaf ) I wont plant them yet but those are what I plan to go there. Here's Planter #2 with the Mothers I have under the light.

I needed to know how much soil would be left after filling the two planter's, so I could make more if necessary. This is what's left.
DSCN098212.JPG
I will probably need to make another 12 - 15 cubic feet to cover the Hill and more potted plants. Keep Um Green TOAST

Did you buy the house/backyard as is or did you make all the planters and hillside? Super nice, must be a CA thang.
