Lembatoast's 2017 - Last Hurrah - Grow Journal

I'm just guessing how these seeds are getting around :laughtwo:

LIFE IN THE HIGH DESERT - First 3 days of over 100 degrees, 1 day of just High Winds, then comes Heavy Rain, Hail, and Snow. Are we having fun yet. Gotta Love It. TOAST

Well, it certainly helps keep you from being bored, doesn't it? Sounds like fun. :laughtwo:

Transplanting Time : The Clones in the QT. Baggies wouldn't go 24 hours with out water, so it was time to put them in larger containers. ( Gallon Baggies ) I made a 5 gallon bucket of MG - Quick Start, cut holes in the bottom of the Gallon Bags, got a Sharpie and a Razor Blade and headed for my pile of dirt.

The reason I use plastic bags to start with, is so when it comes time to transplant them, all you have to do is cut the bottom out of the bag, set the plant where you want it, then lift the bag off the plant and you have just transplanted with out any SHOCK, STRESS, or Disturbance to the plant.

Well that was my big day. TOAST

Big day indeed. You make me look like a slacker. :laughtwo: I may try the plastic bag idea one of these days instead of ordering more fabric one gallon pots.

You know, you make this look easy, but we know how much you put into it. You always impress me with how neatly you get it all put together. :kisstwo:

When I first looked at that picture I thought

"How did he get that plant to sit up there like that?"

I re use the cloth pots. I cut them to up pot, then sew them together with fishing line. Easy as heck to re cut when re using.

Neat! Love the thrifty nature. :high-five: I invested in transplant Geo pots with a Velcro opening. The smartest thing to do with one gallon fabric pots is to drop them right into the finish pot. It grows bigger plants.

I've enjoyed following Toast, I transplanted into one gallon baggies over the weekend, no shock . The plants have continued to grow as if never shuffled. It's my new normal..........

I started taking Clones this evening.

I took 33, about half what I plan to get. Tomorrow I will take the rest and then give you the run down on how many of what. L8R TOAST

I love pictures of this. They make me smile fondly. You changed my life teaching me this trick and I'm hell-bent on spreading the word. It's so reliable that I only take one clone cutting at a time. Have two sitting and growing roots as we speak. :cheesygrinsmiley: Thank you for that Big Guy. :hugs:

I haven't made that switch in my growing methods....yet. :laughtwo: TOAST has this wonderful influence over me though, so we figure it's only a matter of time. lol!

Question Toast, when transplanting out of the one gallon baggies, what are you looking for as far as root growth? Do you just wait to see roots growing down the side of the baggy, or let it go till near root bound? Thanks for any advice.

Looks like a scene out of an alien spaceship, cool nonetheless! Waiting for those dolls to come to life in the background

308jerry, there is no set amount of roots I go for, its all about timing. When I take the rooted clones out of the produce bags their ready to go in the ground or Hydro or what ever. When you try to transplant from the Qt. baggies with just roots around the top, there is nothing to hold the dirt together at the bottom, so when you lift the baggie off, the bottom dirt falls apart and can shock the roots. The optimum scenario is to let the roots come out the holes in the bottom of the baggie and it will explode when the roots are releast in to its new home or container. I transplant them when I need them no matter how far along the rooting is. The clones that I took the other day and the ones I plan to get today will go from the produce bags to there final spot because at this time there is no need to keep them from getting big right away. Hope that helps. TOAST

So it stormed here really really hard again. Lightning, thunder, major rain, and hail. Only one plant suffered any damage this UD X PR lost one branch.

What I want to show you is another one of the weird things that happens to these plants. All the other plants Loved getting soaked. For what ever reason this one decided that half of the plant would just take a shit. This happens to at least one plant every year. I have yet to figure it out.

You can see from the pictures that the stalk isn't damaged or any thing. I don't get it. But there it is. TOAST

How odd. What on earth would explain that? And you say it happens with one a year? That's even odder. :laughtwo: You may never figure that one out.
