I guess I don't understand how the heat would be any different... if they are both using 600 watts, even if one produces more light, that light becomes heat once it's absorbed...

The 600w HID bulb will run over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.. I don't know what 600 watts of LED will be in terms of temperature .. But I'm sure it won't be 1,000 degrees.. Just my 2 cents...

I am pretty sure 600w LED will generate the same amount of heat as a 600w HPS. 252w of LED is putting out the same amount of heat for me as 250w HPS.

Here is a good way to look at it.. You can touch with your finger tip the lense of the 126 watt LED.... right?.. Touch a 100 watt HID bulb with your finger tip.. Just saying..

Ah, but that's not what he said.

He said "most growers", and I think if you take that into consideration, his comment makes more sense.

I think it takes above average grow chops to get more than 0.5.

because an LED is a solid-state device that controls current without heated filaments. LEDs are cool to the touch because they generally don't produce heat in the form of infrared (IR) radiation (unless of course they are IR LEDs). Internally LEDs produce heat at the semiconductor ,at the adapter / converter,at the chip / base layer, and at the body of the product and in turn the chip is attached to a heat sink with some form of convection to dissipate the heat. Regardless LEDs do produce a considerable amount of heat. A lot of factors come in to play like ambient room temperature and air volume.

Think of a reservoir used to cool a CO2 generator. A 5 gallon resv. will need a chiller but a 25 gallon resv. wont because there is enough water to dissipate the heat. Same with the environment you have your LED in. The larger the air volume you have the cooler you will run but if your in a tight space you will need some from of A/C much like a water chiller attached to a small resv.

So what are your observations then? Granted the PS has the power lead but do you think HGL would have done the same or better if it were 180w? Or is the PS just a better light?

ledgirl probably had nothing to do with making those lights... most companies have lab guys come up with the lights and a production team put them together... and a vendor that sells them... she is just another sells person trying to make a buck.... im very excited to see the results man.. ive been following since the first day... i might just stick to this site since they dont have a problem with people speaking their minds or asking questions...

95% of LED grow lights on the market come out of China.

And these people drop shipping them have nothing to do with developing or production besides choosing the spectrum of the LEDs and placing the order.

This is where your lights come from.

These LED light units are a lot cheaper than people here think.
You should not be paying anywhere near $700 bucks for a 200w light, between $200 - 250 is a lot closer to the mark.

That 600w light is going to be a beast Irish, what are your plans for plant arrangement and how many?

Forget to ask, I came across somewhere Irish where you were asking about Snow Storm Ultra. I picked some up last night for pretty cheap from my store and applied it when I got home. Ill let know now if it is worth a damn, that is, if you don't have it already. Peace.
