Landrace Durban Poison Outdoor Grow

Thanks Con.
Yes that is what I've been discovering when I research. Calcium seems to be the key. In busy collecting drying and powdering egg shells and I'll be at the beach this week collecting some crab shell to powder and add to the mix. Some Will go into the soil to break down and some into the worm bin. Hoping that will do the job.

Collect as many as you can and make sure that you give soil at least 6 weeks to cook.

I like the sound of sea shells brother I won't lie, been dying to try that out as tool in as good things abound from the ocean....

How you been keeping brother must be getting pretty damn cold there by you round about now with that cold front rolling in...?
It was pleasantly warm here by us this morning but it's that tell tale warmth before snow falls on the Lesotho highlands other side of me....haha

Hope it's a blessed week ahead for you mr.Rugged and regards to the family and the little one...
Cheers bra. Yeah it's getting cold here but we are inside with the fire going so it's not bad. Have a feeling we will have a nice wet winter hopefully the water crisis will be over. Have an awesome week Smeegs

Great numbers well done again brother @Lerugged that's a great haul of some great bud. :passitleft:
Best of luck for the young one!
SSH , sour d, lsd and some purple cheese?crossed with a very manly wild Durban Male.
That's a sweet mixup of genetics, looking forward to see what they can do.

All caught up!

Congrats on the POTM title! Durban is one of my favorite strains....love the smoke and love the way it crosses into hybrids. Looking forward to seeing what else you do here! Cheers brother! :passitleft:

Hi all. Ok so things have been a little nuts since the little one joined the family. Anyways so here's the vibe on my sundeck at the moment. First set of pics is the transkei land race mixed. To be honest they mostly look pretty ugly and hoping they will grow out of it. So Far from what i remember from the last time I grew them out they looked mostly the same..I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that most of these ugly looking ones will be the green variety. Hopefully one or two of the red (rooibaard) and some will hopefully be the pink/ purple phenos. There are some differences already in the sprouts with a couple looking fairly decent. They all sprouted in winter exposed to the elements which could also explain why they look nasty. One thing I did notice is some of the sprouts popped with a red color (temps)? And some were completely purple. I've isolated these ones that have an obvious difference.
Then a some pics of some cuts I put out. I will.keep doing this until spring to make space. So grow a couple, take cuts and put the Mother's out to flower. Not really expecting too much and hoping the cooler weather tightens the buds up. They are once again much frostier than the sumeme ones.
Then a quick update on the soil prep.
I collected a couple bags of cuttlefish 'bones' the inner piece of the squid that looks like polystyrene. They are apparently mostly made up of calcium carbonate. Is this the correct form of calcium? I've dried them and will powder them and add to my mix to cook for a couple months. Pics to follow.

Cheers Van thanks for the kind words. Welcome . Things chillin hard at the moment so waiting for spring vibes.

Yep fish powder is calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate and a mixture of amino acids.

Plants are looking good on the deck there brother! Looking forward to see these Transkei girls! :passitleft:

Looking good Lerugged.
I have had a couple of plants turn purple on me this winter. I just put it down to the colder temps.
Congrats on the little one. they do keep one occupied.
:goodluck:
Haha yeah it's pretty busy here doing nothing heh. Thanks Strain. Yeah I've got a cut of miss sticky (the one Durban) that is purpling too from the temps. Just went upstairs and the storm we had last night's with 80km/h winds tore the garden up quite a bit. Getting some snow on the mountains too apparently . Have a good weekend and stay warm

Hi lerugged- great final numbers on the summer grow. Congrats! Looking forward to the next round. You must be a bit north-ish, there’s no way I could have anything outside here atm, toooo chilly! Nice to hear you’re really happy with the tokes of your summer harvest, too - that’s always a good outcome :D

So there be a storm brewing. Some mad winds coming through. I've popped some tin cans over some of the smaller guys.. Hopefully they dont blow off. Then just a couple of the bigger cuts taken downstairs for a bit of shelter. Buds not dense enough yet for too much worry. The way I see it, whatever land races survive and does something this winter totally exposed probably has some decent genetic traits that may be worth exploring . The rest.. meh. It's really the first time I'm trying to Do this and I'm pretty surprised so many sprouted in super cold weather.. summer will be a bit more serious. Anyways a couple pics and some Durban infused evoo.

Looking good :thumb:

Down in North Carolina there is a spring custom I was introduced to and it made a heck of a difference in that sandy soil. We collected shells and made a heap of them over a frame of firewood then burned them until they were powder. They snap, crackle and pop as they burn down, so beware. This was added to the garden soil, apparently it breaks it down quickly and makes it more immediately accessible.

What shells did you use? Oyster? Crab? Egg?

Congrats on your harvests and POTM. Good job.

Kelp is good stuff.

There's a few folks here that compost it raw in containers and use it in the soil.

I have a few year supply - 50# bags are cheap here in the US. lol

Wouldn't grow without it. Not sure about auxins making it thru a lactobacillus fermentation??
I'd have to research.

I hope all is well with you and your family. :Namaste:

You mentioned popping an LSD seed. How is that looking by now?
