OOOH. I did it the first try thanks to @Azimuth who lead me to the light. Jesus I wa sooo thick pasting my pevious link.

Cheers :yahoo:
If you are joined up, you will see a little ribbon below your name on your avatar. I don't know how long it takes for that to happen though.
Glad you got going. @Azimuth is always helpful!

Not so. I'm in but at the low level as well. It just doesn't show. A way to create inner tension to go up to the next level. I don't like that but it is what it is.
I will inquire about that later. I am at the lowest level also. But the ribbon is there. Not sure who does that. But we will get an answer. :-)

Actually, I am not at the lowest. I'm next level up. Just checked. Ugh, so much going on I get lost.

I had been planning on supporting, and in fact I just signed up but, I think more people would support financially if there was a little something in it for the lower tiers.
Badges and titles cost nothing, stickers and lighters are cheap. You don’t even get a sticker till you’re dropping $100 a month.
I really want to do the 25 a month but, I can’t help but feel like for $300 a year, I should at least get a t-shirt or something ..
I know I’d be just as happy to support here as I would be proud to show off the swag..
Maybe a rewards system for continued support?
I dunno, I supported because I appreciate the site but, I love stickers hats and shirts! So if I can catch a shirt in stock I’ll buy one.(they had 2x so I bought one hoping it shrinks a little)
Also, it’s kind of hard to find the store. I didn’t know one existed until I found it by accident

I'll forward these thoughts to admin or Rob later. Hearing members thoughts is a good thing.
Sitting in emergency with Mom again right now.

Oh no, so sorry to hear that, I was really hoping she was in the clear once you got her home to your house. My hearts with you all.
And if you forward that to the powers that be, tell em to put a link to the store in the hamburger menu on the left…and stock it!

No problem. It's just suggestions. :-) I'm not at my computer, so forwarding etc. Is problematic. Cell phone doesn't work great where we are. I can't wait to get back home.

Hey hey Gro Sista :)

What’s happening with your mum?

Hey hey Gro Sista :)

What’s happening with your mum?
She was in the hospital for a week, most of the time in ICU. 4 broken ribs that resulted in severe pneumonia which caused severe sepsis. went into heart failure and kidneys were on the brink. She's 87

Got released to me a couple/few days ago to keep a watch on her and make sure she's healing and heart etc. etc. stays calm.

Her ankles started swelling yesterday morning and her breathing seemed to worsen, we kept a watch and did what the RN said to do over the phone. Overnight the swelling went up so bad that it could only be referenced as Elephantiasis to me. It was horrible. she couldn't breath.

I called the ambulance and we've been all day in emergency while they took ten pounds of water off her system with Lasik and tended to blood pressure and heart issues. The water retention had pushed on and around her lungs and she couldn't breath, and her heart went haywire again. That's the bulk of it.

We are back home now, and I don't want any more trips to the hospital anymore than she does.
This has got to get better soon! 💕

Oh the dreaded fall. So sad for you. It can completely change direction for the elderly.

Sounds like her heart. I think it’s R) sided heart failure that results oedema. I’m sure they told you. Water doesn’t run uphill easily. If you can, keep her legs elevated if you can see the swell, it will help shift the oedema.

Sadly we don’t live forever, and at 87 it’s that definite quality vs quantity balance. Hopefully she’s on regular frusemide and she’s on a fluid restriction, I’d be guessing a 1.5L restriction. All you can do really is treat the symptoms. Without surgery heart failure is hard to undo.

Just a tip. Feeling like you can’t breath is one of the most stressful things ever, this in turn causes you to become more stressed and even more breathless and your breathing technique becomes ineffective. Tell your mum to focus on her outward breath. Remind her in a gentle soothing tone, as long as she is breathing out she is breathing in. This will help bring her back to the now and calm her.

You are a good person and daughter which suggests she’s been a great mum. I’m sending you love and sunshine. Xo

Yeah, we understand that the shallow breathing from the broken ribs pain is what caused the pneumonia, which led to the severe sepsis. She had a heart attack 4 years ago, so that is what is going on with the AFIB and she has chronic kidney disease.

Everything you've said we're doing by direction of the RN's and Docs. She has an apparatus to breath with to expand her lungs at a specific setting. She's really good about doing that, but this nasty edema got in the way.
She has a prescription for Lasik in pill form, and fluid restriction and of course, sodium restriction, same thing my Dad had to do last year.

She's been really good about elevating her feet and legs. She's a very good patient and doesn't question what she's told to do, but her body is just giving her trouble no matter what we do right now.

Thanks for your thoughts M'dear! 💕

Sounds like a great plan.

Hey a good cheat to ascertain that fluid balance is on track, and I’m sure they told you this but just in case, is a daily weight. First thing in the morning. A dry weight. You can see by the numbers if your mum is retaining fluid.

Helps shut that gate before the horse bolts.
