Lady Cannafan Indoor Garden Sponsored By ViparSpectra KS5000 LED - Multiple Strains

I don't even have a puck-making gadget. I prolly should get one because I'll bet it would increase my yield.

As I tend to be a bit frugal (not cheap, mind you 🙂 ) I have convinced myself that there must be something in my house that I can repurpose as a puck-maker. So far, I haven't found the "thing" or "things" that will serve that purpose. I've had my press for a while now so perhaps I should break down and buy a puck-making gadget! But I won't do that until I've tried a rubber hammer, something that I had not thought about before!
:thanks:

Currently, I fashion my bags using the bottle-tech method and then just smash the weed into them using my thumbs. Still I manage to get it fairly compact as I only smash 5gs at a time.

5g puck results from earlier this month:

I did my first smash of the Fat Bastard#1 today. She produced a crystal-like, blond rosin. Some of it was hard on the paper after being cooled for a few minutes.

The rubber hammer is supposed to be used to tap down hard on the puck press. I found that it just bounced back up without really doing any good.
If you are looking for a good pre-press mold, I suggest the ones from Dabpress. The one I have is the cylindrical hammer style, but I'm going to order the rectangular one so I can do a flat press and it holds up to 12 grams. They are on sale right now too.

In the meantime if you are looking for something that might work, try the biscuit cutter molds. They have small ones in the set that just might work. I have a set of these and use them for many things. You would just need something to place on top to hammer it down.

I would try a piece of threaded pipe (gas pipe), cap, big bolt & real hammer Pound it in, in layers. Take the cap off & pound it out
Myself I would spin something up on the lathe

UPDATE (partial) 1-13-24

I got these photos just before the power went out. It's back on now, but I'm sure it will be out again anytime. Nasty azz winter storm. The whole state is experiencing power outages again.

First up is Wild Azz. She is just full of buds and some of her pistils are turning orange as well as leaf fading. She has surprised me. Pictures just don't show the height and span. Big girl.

Peanut Butter Breaths 1, 2, and 3 are doing good. I did a little defoliation today and will do more in a couple days. They drink a lot.

Phatt Frutty's doing good as well. Some trouble with leaves, but I upped the nitrogen and seems to have corrected it the past week. Defoliation will be done on those tomorrow where needed.

I will try to get pics of the rest of the girls tomorrow if the power holds out.
Hey Gro Sister 💖

So beautiful!

Your photography is off tap babe!

Hey Sister, Grow Sister! I'm hoping to have time to pop around and visit peoples' threads very soon.
I left you some snow photos on the seasons thread. 💕
Oh great :)

I’ll go look.

And bypass mine. It’s just the usual fracas of mishaps and skullfuckery.

I did a short video with the Kush Runtz...or Runtz Kush...I can never get that strain name straight. ;)
It was given to me by a friend a few months back, and I thought it looked old. It still came out with fairly decent Rosin. I haven't done much with the video, just a short one to view.

Thanks for the @DabPress shout out LadyCan!

I ordered the Hand-held mold (but not because it was the least expensive ⚡).

I had a grower friend tell me that she uses corn tortillas in her jars to maintain humidity. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Not flour, only the corn tortillas.
I'm using the Boveda packs which serve me well.
Yes, those, a piece of bread, citrus peels etc. Probably the best though is a fresh canna leaf.

I use a handheld pasta press with a screw top to squeeze out oil when I make extracts, and imagine it would work great for making pucks.

If you have the hand strength, a lever-type potato ricer would probably work but might be too wide.

Here's the Puck. It was pretty tall. LOL Again, excuse the clarity. It's from a video clip.

What are you using to pre-press your flower? I don't have enough body weight to compact them in the mold, so I'm using an old homemade cheese press. The rubber hammer did not work for me.

To clarify, I put the cylindrical pre-press mold filled with bud in the cheese press. I'll post a pic of that tomorrow.

I've been trying to laugh with you, but I'm not understanding what the funny is. Clue me in..... 😆

@Grand Daddy Black, are you using the filter bags when you press your pucks? They help filter out plant material and impurities, making for a nicer clean Rosin. They come in different weaves, I'm using the 120 micron filters currently. They have from 37 micron to 160 micron.

Nice squash's! I've been using 37 bags lately thinking I get smoother vape from my rosen. I wonder how much of that is in my head? I also wonder how much I'm leaving behind? Why would there be such a range really? It almost doesn't make sense to me.
The smaller the number (tinier holes in bags, or I like to call it tighter mesh), the finer the filter is but this will decrease yields a little. The larger hole bags allow larger pieces of material through which increases your yields....but quality will diminish.
I'm using the 120 micron bags right now, but next run I'm going to use a 37 and see what the yield is and the clarity of the Rosin in comparison, using the same amount of flower.

Well, it's only 10:00 a.m. and I'm ready for a vape, a smoke, or some mushrooms already.

I have this USB microscope you see......somewhere.....I know I have one.....it took me a half hour to find it.

I plug it into the computer and cannot get a focus on anything, not even a shadow of what it was pointing at. I tried and tried and tried. Finally I took a mini led flashlight and peered into the scope. There was no lens. I could see the threaded piece to thread it into, but no lens.

So I sat through a cuppa and told my brain to get working. Somewhere a few years ago I had removed that lens...but for what???
It finally came back to me, I had removed it to attach to the camera on a cell phone to get macro shots. That did work out well, but now....where is the lens?

Another hour of searching and I found it hiding in an old mini camera bag. I throw nothing away.
So, I get that lens back in there and plug that puppy in....windows doesn't recognize it now. Says it may have malfunctioned. UGH I did some major cussing at microsoft and windows, resisted the urge to toss the puter out into the snow.
After several tries I decided to restart the computer. That worked. It is now functional, but my patience has malfunctioned.

I need to restart myself and hope it resets things.:rofl:
