Lady Cannafan Indoor Garden Sponsored By ViparSpectra KS5000 LED - Multiple Strains

I am already in, hence the reason I need to make some liquid. :yahoo:

I'm waiting on an order of things I need for the liquid and syringes to put it in.
I calculated my Rosin yield and figured it to be about 28%.
I think that's good? The flower pucks apparently can be re-pressed, I've read. I'll try that next week when I get more "patties". :laughtwo:
It's going to take some practice, I think I could have pressed down a bit more, but with a video in progress I didn't want to muck anything up. LOL

Power was out just over 24 hours, house got too cold, so I gave in and went to a relatives' for the night.

Hopefully the lighting issue won't harm the girls. I seem to remember a timer failure for a couple of days that I had discovered during one of my grows in my basement, and saw no ill effects of hermie's or anything.
I'm going to try to get some update pics today.

Preparing for another winter storm starting tomorrow that is going to dump a huge amount on us, I sure hope we don't get another power failure. It's all due to downed trees from the weight of the snow.

My theory is that the wave of downed trees are the threshold of where they can hold up or not, they being the not. That leaves the rest of the ones that were strong enough to endure. That weather was severe! I hope it stays calmish for you and your garden! It's coming for us too!

I agree. The trees have not recovered from the severe weight of the first snowfall while they were still soft and had leaves on them. Extensive damage, cracked limbs and trunks splitting from the weight. We are going to continue seeing them drop until only the strongest stay standing. Power company contractors have been steadily, the last three months, removing large limbs and cracked trees trying to avoid any more lines coming down. Every time a heavy snowfall hits my driveway and yard has large limbs dropping. It's sad to see.
The week upcoming will be two snowstorms, temperatures dropping to 10 degrees F, with a real feel of well below zero, I'm sure.
What area of the country are you?
Edit: I see you are in the Massachusetts area. Stay safe, be prepared.

We got a foot and a half last Sunday. My roof is bare today! Had a rain storm. It's crazy! There's 3 or 4 inches on the ground now and it's been over 32 for a few days going into another rain storm in a few days of a few inches. We'll have bare ground next week for a time. Flooding galore! We're dry so far:nervous-guy:Watch those limbs and stay warm! I see the heartland freezing up!

UPDATE (partial) 1-13-24

I got these photos just before the power went out. It's back on now, but I'm sure it will be out again anytime. Nasty azz winter storm. The whole state is experiencing power outages again.

First up is Wild Azz. She is just full of buds and some of her pistils are turning orange as well as leaf fading. She has surprised me. Pictures just don't show the height and span. Big girl.

Peanut Butter Breaths 1, 2, and 3 are doing good. I did a little defoliation today and will do more in a couple days. They drink a lot.

Phatt Frutty's doing good as well. Some trouble with leaves, but I upped the nitrogen and seems to have corrected it the past week. Defoliation will be done on those tomorrow where needed.

I will try to get pics of the rest of the girls tomorrow if the power holds out.

Making the Rosin!

The Rositek 4-Ton Rosin Press is awesome. So easy to use, especially for a novice.

This is from Donkey Butter bud. Sorry about the clarity, the shots came from video clips.

LadyCan, how much did that puck weigh? What temp. did you use?

That's some lovely-looking rosin! :Rasta:

The pre-press mold I have has a maximum 7 grams. That's what I weighed out. I made sure to cut any stems out to prevent blowouts of the filter. Filter was 120 micron. The puck was almost too big to fit between the plates. Dabpress suggests two smaller pucks. I'm doing that next. I used the pre-set temperature at 190 degrees for both plates. I did the pressing gradually over the course of about two minutes.

Thanks. I was curious because through numerous smashes of numerous strains I've never achieved that "orange-like" color that you got.

I'm certain that the color of the rosin is strain-dependant. Since my smashing process closely mirrors yours I guess I need to get some Donkey Butter! 🙂

One more question. How old were the buds you smashed? (How long since harvest.)

On the not so great news side. I was looking closely at the Wild Azz plant and there are some green nanners sticking out, as well as some immature seed pods.
I have moved it to a different room under a Mars hydro light. I will get a close look at trichomes today for color. Half of the pistils are orange and shriveling.
Not sure what caused the nanners, with all of the power outages in the past week or so....could be stress. Or it's just weak genetics. I am not certain what the strain is, I could only go by what the grower said.....and that's an iffy. LOL

The bud I had was from a friends' outdoor grow harvested this year. They didn't trim it all that well. Older bud, which I tried came out less of the orange color, but was still okay. Fresher cured bud is going to give best results. Wish mine was ready. LOL I'll grab a pic of the puck from the video in a bit.

Here's the Puck. It was pretty tall. LOL Again, excuse the clarity. It's from a video clip.

What are you using to pre-press your flower? I don't have enough body weight to compact them in the mold, so I'm using an old homemade cheese press. The rubber hammer did not work for me.

I don't even have a puck-making gadget. I prolly should get one because I'll bet it would increase my yield.

As I tend to be a bit frugal (not cheap, mind you 🙂 ) I have convinced myself that there must be something in my house that I can repurpose as a puck-maker. So far, I haven't found the "thing" or "things" that will serve that purpose. I've had my press for a while now so perhaps I should break down and buy a puck-making gadget! But I won't do that until I've tried a rubber hammer, something that I had not thought about before!
:thanks:

Currently, I fashion my bags using the bottle-tech method and then just smash the weed into them using my thumbs. Still I manage to get it fairly compact as I only smash 5gs at a time.

5g puck results from earlier this month:

I did my first smash of the Fat Bastard#1 today. She produced a crystal-like, blond rosin. Some of it was hard on the paper after being cooled for a few minutes.
