I agree, I prefer the photo seeds. I had never thought about the reason that PW stated. That makes a lot of sense for a perpetual grow. I couldn't figure out why so many people were growing auto's (I thought perhaps cause banks gave out a bunch of free auto seeds). I was always told to avoid the autos.

You hear a lot of misinformation about autos. Go to the site devoted to them and you'll be shocked at the possibilities. arteeka and his grow partner Jay used to pull 6 oz off each of their autos without blinking. Their journals are invaluable teaching tools for auto growers. They were so successful that they had to stop growing for a while because they ran out of storage space. :laughtwo:

I had it on good authority from a professional grower that growing the right auto was a smart move for a grow with limited resources. It's all in how you grow, but autos fill a valuable slot. The choices have gotten so good that they rival photos now.

You wanna go oldschool grow under the sun. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I was initially wary of auto strains but have become curious about their potential for perpetual harvest in a single room after seeing some of the auto grows on here. The ability to have flowering and vegging plants all under 20/4 lighting would be very useful to me due to my limited growing space but I will have to read up more on height management with autos. I've got plenty of time to decide before I run out of photo seeds.

I feel like the more I learn about growing cannabis, the more I still need to learn, the knowledge base expands exponentially as you dig into it!

Girls had a nice breakfast and have really perked up with the balancing of nutes. New growth on the canopy is twice the size as yesterday. :blushsmile:

Candida has a really pretty canopy right now. She likes to hang lower to the ground than the others, but is very symmetrical.

Blue Dream CBD is really a grower! Still taller than the others with nice node spacing. This strain is a joy so far.

Now to the Northern Lights. These are my two prospects for topping.

I would hit that #2 NL for a topping right about now. Grow is looking great Lady Antheia!

So where would you top? Above the 3rd set of leaves or the new 4th set (taking out the tiny leaves just sticking up)?

I would take the 4th myself. I have realized I prefer bending and popping the new tops more than cutting them (seems like they recover faster in my experience). So I would find that smallest top (i have heard it referred to as 'micro-topping') and bend it over until it just pops.

Well done....the first one was tough for me....by now i just pop em off when I see one I want removed. Haven't ever eaten one though.

Try it next time, or save it to throw on top of a salad. The new growth is sweet, not bitter, and would mix very nicely with a summer salad. :blushsmile:
