Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Lights

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Very nice so far. .

Thanks, PW! And I'm taking lots of notes from your wonderful journal. :thumb: I'm trying to decide on a full hydro setup.... This going up and down stairs to hand water multiple times a day is not a good fit for me. I tend to overestimate my energy levels and have yet to come to terms that I'm no longer the energizer bunny.

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Same here, my first 3-4 grows i hand watered and i said forget that and set it all up on timers.

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Lugging huge buckets of water back and forth the other night had me thinking of how tough hand watering must be for some people. No way my wife would have been able to carry those buckets the last few days, she's maybe 2/3 my weight with uncooperative shoulders, elbows and wrists. Going to be a lot of lugging in flower. Everything is on the same floor for me so I've been thinking of putting casters on a solid piece of wood so that I can wheel buckets around. I figured starting with coco and GH nutes would mean a logical move into proper hydro in the future.

That was my thought, too. I guess I'll just be making the transition sooner than I thought. Ha! Due to weight issues, I can only mix and carry a gallon at a time. Sure it works now, but we all know that's not going to cut it in flower. :surrender:

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

Late afternoon I had a little more energy and thought I would tackle the final transplant into the 5 gallon fabric pots. I was beginning to see roots at the top of the coco, and they were sticking to the bottom of the fabric pot when I pulled them out - so it was time. But I was exhausted afterwards. Early bedtime for me tonight. :snooze:

Everyone seems happy, except Candida. She seems to be experiencing some transplant stress and is a little droopy. Hoping she will have perked up by tomorrow morning like nothing ever happened. She is the high CBD star of my show, so I can't lose her. :bitingnails:

Hey! Just subb'd and am disappointed I've only just found your journal cos I'm at the same stage, with a veg Coco, in a 4 x 4, using LED's
AND am new to indoor growing also! So perhaps we can give each other a bit of support? Your grow is looking way neater and cleaner than mine so far. And very healthy plants, too. Well done!!

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

I want to try that on my next grow as well. It's an intriguing method, for sure, and the yields seem to be very high for most people. Also, it just looks cool. ;)
Me too! I'm not confident enough to do all that stripping just yet. Another grow (or 2) under my belt and I'll be tackling it, I reckon...after watching loads of 420 video demo's!

:thanks: Welcome! Pull up your favorite chair and we can talk all about our grow, or anything else we want.

What are you growing?

LA,

Your girls look amazing. Keep doing what you are doing and don't change anything. I love how you are watching and listening to what your babies are telling you.
Your transplants have been flawless and you are going to reap the rewards with strong vigorous plants.
Resist an early flip if you got the head space within your tent. An extra week or two in veg is going to give you so much more medicine with healthy plants like that. If you need to continue your topping. (nice job) :thumb:
Your research and continued education on MJ has been impressive.
This journal is a great way to look back and remember all the awesome stuff you have accomplished, but i urge you to also capture the info not recorded here. i.e. feeding schedule, pH, EC, days at which you up potted etc.

Again Great Job. I enjoy your thread.

BTW most local hardware stores sell an attachment that screws on to your sink faucet that allows you to attach a garden hose. You could run a hose to your basement. OR if you have a washing machine down stairs you can get a "Y" fitting with a faucet end and fill downstairs.

Gauge,

I can't thank you enough for all of your encouragement.:hugs: All of my success is because of you and the many wonderful people on this forum willing to help.

The learning process as been fun, and I'm continually amazed at how much there is to uncover...many things that we still don't know about these amazing plants. I look forward to the new discoveries that are to come! As part of the learning process, I've been keeping a notebook with all the great things you mentioned: nutes, feeding schedule, how much they eat, runoff ppm & ec, growth rates, and when I change anything. It has been invaluable to go back through those notes, and it reminds me how much I have learned in just my short time interacting with these plants.

Thank you for the great tip on on the y connector for water. I mentioned it to hubby and he was able to dig one out of his tools. Sometimes it pays to hold onto things like that. I've now moved all of my nutes, meters, etc. downstairs and am setup for the dinnertime feeding. :)

Give them a day or two, they should bounce back. Non auto's are extremely resilient to most everything.

Hi Anna, just wanted to offer you the same advice I offered to LA. Don't be afraid to try things on your girls. Experiment with one plant in your grow if you are uncomfortable with the idea of risking your whole grow. Start slowly with easier training techniques and work up from there. I was nervous as hell doing my very first topping and fimming, now I want to main-line and flux my next grow. Now note, this advice is for photo girls, not autos. Start slowly and give it a try. My first defoliation was light and I was cautious about how they would react. By my third defoliation, other 420 members were saying my girls looked like chickens with all their feathers plucked out. And the girls would recover at such a fast rate I was blown away. Now its killing me not to do anything with my girls and let them just grow. LOL...I am wanting to train them or defoliate them. Start slowly and you will advance far faster than you can imagine.

You're crushing those transplants Lady A... everything looks so clean and perfect! Great news on getting water to your plants more easily too.

Re: Lady Antheia's First Grow - MMJ In Coco - Candida, Blue Dream CBD & Northern Ligh

One thing I did learn about transplants that I'll remember for next time - use plastic pots until the final transplant into a fabric pot.

It is possible to use fabric pots the whole way. They are great, and I really like them. However, a plant that slides out of a plastic pot is much easier to transplant than one that has its roots sticking to a fabric pot.

I definitely agree with that. One thing you can look at if you want are Air Pots. Supposedly they as good at allowing air to roots if not better than smart pots and they are simple to transplant from. I bought 1 gallon and 5 gallon air pots. I am trying one of the 5 gallon pots with tomatoes and the growth rate early on is off pretty impressive compared to the same strain of tomatoes I have in raised beds.

Seems like I've seen a few people using airpots in their setups. The one thing I've never heard anyone talk about though is how to clean them. Looks like it would take some scrubbing for all those nooks and crannies. No?

I think you just unroll it, and then take a garden hose to it, I don't think cleaning will be bad at all LA.

Headed out today to run errands for the first time in a while, and it felt good to be out even though I got tired very quickly. I headed to the local hardware store on the hunt for hth pool shock. Nothing. So I tried Target and Walmart. Still struck out. Huh??? It used to be that you could buy that during the summer at just about every store.

But while at Walmart, I spied a rolling plant cart that I thought could be an interesting idea to move plants around a grow tent. The rolling casters have locks so that they won't move once you have them in place. Just wanted to pass it along.

Then it was time for the girls to have their afternoon meal when I got home. I happily mixed up nutes and went to the tent to begin feeding them. Shortly into my enjoyable quiet time with them I spot holes in some leaves! :thedoubletake: Little bastages are eating my plant!!!

Attack mode is now on. Pulled out the microscope and flashlight, but I came up empty. That's fine. Play hard to get. Those little buggers I do not want spreading, so I sprinkled diatomaceous earth on top of the coco. I also mixed some insecticidal spray with Dr Bronner's tea tree oil soap and a pinch of hot pepper in water. Hopefully, it was okay to spray the plants.
