High Whiskey Papa. Good points. That certainly was a consideration but seemed odd that both were doing the same thing. I hate to cut this shot but the following will hopefully explain.


Hoo Freakin'Rah! The girls are eating again!

I checked the day before yesterday at the beginning of their day and they had nibbled a bit, 50 and 75 ppm drop. That was encouraging so I decided to leave them and see what happened after a day or two. I just checked them at 8:30 this morning when I got back from a 17.5 hour day hauling water to build snow bridges. It's a rush pounding down a road you could skate on at 70mph in an old Mack with 35,000 lbs of water in the tank. For $460/day they can call me anytime! lol So I'm posting this and hitting the old fart sack for 4 hours then likely do it again.

Anyway, one tub has dropped 370ppm and the other 150 and the buds and trichs are busting out all over. More so in the unchanged tub than the other. So far the no-nute change experiment is producing interesting results. I don't have time for pics right now or to answer a bunch of mail. It may be another couple of days before I get caught up if I go to work again today but I will.

Gonna check for anything urgent then nighty-night!

I can imagine driving that truck has gotta be a rush every time you get to the top of the hill. Not to mention stopping at the bottom.

Building Ice Bridges ? I've never heard of that.....don't sound good to me. Cold, Cold. Hey don't worry about us, we'll still be here old Bud.

I only got a day and a half. It got too warm the second night so they sent us home early. 6 hrs work and 5.5 for travel. 12 and 5.5 the first day. In the bush when they need to cross a creek or gully they set up a sno-gun and it sprays water into the air at high pressure and it freezes and falls as snow. Once they build a big pile of snow a Cat packs it down and blades it off and I soak it down with water to freeze. We haven't had much snow yet this year or the Cats would just push snow into the hole and I'd soak that down. Then they can haul their equipment across for winter drilling or seismic work or whatever. In the spring it melts away and doesn't damage the environment. It's all muskeg up here in the bush and they can't work in the summer as nothing can stay on the surface except for quads or wide tracked vehicles.

Now you know all about ice bridges. lol

you guys rhyme all the time lol anyway....hope you dont mind me pickin your brains!, why can i only upload my pics in members gallery? i cant seem to create my own photo album or edit my pics,any idea why?

It should go into your gallery. When you first go to the photo gallery click on the My Photos link on the top left. Then you can view all your own pix. Once you upload your pics they get branded with the 420magazine.com logo and technically become the property of 420Mag I believe. Something to do with legal issues I think. When you want to show a pic in your posting you right click on the photo > properties and save the "Location" url to add it to the posting using the blue "Insert link" button at the top of the box you're typing your post in.

I think most of that is correct but I'm not positive about the legal issue stuff. Mods?

hi labrat, just caught up on the grow, looks good, i am changing from hydro to dwc on my next grow, but going to use the existing system, ( atami wilma ) and cut holes in , for 5" net pots, i am going to use the existing dripper system , till the roots are long enough to hit the water...then remove them...

one question i have is, can i still have a heater in the tank, for the water temps? surely when the roots get big, they could be touching the heater which wouldnt be good ?

i am excited to be making it myself, and will do a journal soon, when the other equipment arrives, for me it makes sense because i am losing the existing pots which are almost 12" high, so gives more room in the grow tent, so i can veg for longer.

i am going to do two tanks, a 70 litre with 8-10 pots, and a 40 litre with 4-6 pots, but i want to make sure they still have plenty of room, and i will also still use the lst method too.

anyway, i am locked into this!

I think part of it is that if you draw your pictures from the 420 picture gallery the pics are not ip traceable back to you directly...

I've never used a heater in the tubs and I doubt you will need one either. You want the nute temps cooler than your air temps so usually it's an issue of cooling not heating. Right now my nute temps are 64F and the sol'n can hold a lot more dissolved O2 than it could at say 74F. Any warmer than that and it's very likely to cause root rot or other problems like algae growth in the tubs.

You're not really switching from hydro to DWC, you're just switching to a different method of hydro. "Hydro" encompasses any method of growing plants without dirt. Most people equate it to include only with hydro nutes tho now with the newer organic nutes meant for hydro that definition doesn't fly very well.

Whatever we call it, it works great!

I've been too busy/lazy for pix and I've been wanting them to get a little fatter before posting more. I'm adding a 400W MH tonight and will get and post some pix then. They're getting nice and frosty so there should be some good ones with some macro shots. It's been 7.5 weeks and the trichs are still all clear so it may be a bit longer to harvest than I thought. I'll be nicking some lower buds soon if they don't hurry up. lol

That makes sense. What about all the posts etc? I was lurking in forums like this for quite a while before I ever joined any over concerns about the man. Once I got going I figured in for a penny, in for a pound! lol

I'm not sure about that. I'm just figuring the added bluer light will help pump up the buds just by having extra energy available for the plants. The blue light is supposed to encourage growth and a 50% increase in light ought to do something good. I might just add a second air stone to each tub and another pump to run them. I've got that stuff laying around so I might as well blast the girls for the last week or two. I'll likely put the MH on it's own timer and run it for 6-8 hrs in the middle of their day.

Should be interesting.
