Not bad at all. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart: I find as I go on that in my smaller tents smaller pots make more sense. I went with bigger and didn't see the increase in volume I wanted. Went back to smaller and refined training, and now I'm much happier.

Small pots don't get the respect they due, don't you agree? Working LOS with smaller pots is more of a challenge, which elevates your improvement, IMO. Doc's kit makes small pot growing much easier, but even so it can be tricky. I have great respect for your talents my friend.

Small pots get no respect...
I do. But, It is only luck my soil has life in the small container. I know I will be on soluble nutes in that pot next grow or maybe once to get me through flower boost.
Oh it is alive now. I can tell by the thrips, just one or two, it is too dry for them (me thinks) outside of the soil. Something is munching on my leafs/leaves. prolly a thrip. soil surface got a neem oil spray earlier this week. thrips come and go but never in force in this soil. Not a one on the sticky trap.

It has been my impression the DBHB needs a 'certain volume' to maintain the microbes for the magic. (maybe 5 gal)?
If i could do like the "August Grower Duggan" and have 26 gal for the babies, I would have DBHB and also carrots, tomatoes and any other veggie magic lovers in there with the canna. I worry in a smaller pot DBHB might loose too much after first run and I do lazy and recycle re-amend LOS. It is running out of steam, I need to re do my base soil, maybe pay the shiping from BAS. That first run soil tho, wowza it is schweet.

I do believe in the earthbox jr I can re-run LOS for a long time. Heck the stuff I got is 3 years old???

Brings me to today's drama. So the Zammy-D is looking all plump wide and stout with stretch just showing. So I thinks to self --Gonna has to pull that top over let the secondary catch up-- and in general train for height. I notice the main stem is not growing straight up but at an angle, so i pull the top this way and that to see which is best direction to go.--------------
The main stem, at soil level comes loose, and I see the stem narrows out and turns a funny color brown just below soil level.
Not good. Off to doctor mode.

I push up soil to cover the stem to the bottom node, (I remember PeeJay not liking that to support a streched stem but this is different)I cut a bit of aloe filet, drip the juice on the bottom of the stem and soil surrounding and place the aloe skin on top of the same soil area.

Lemme try to illustrate in picture, here it is after, the soil was almost up to the first node before, so it didnt take much, have a looky...
the darker mulch cover and the green aloe fillet skin.
CIMG9632.jpg

It is so packed in and stout it is hard to get a look at the soil level. Here is a side view before I noticed the stem this morning...
CIMG9609.jpg

It was about 6 am and I got a little out of sorts, I always close my knife that I cut aloe with after I use it. But I found it left open which is not like me. It looks a bit used but it is sharp and someone (me) could easily get hurt.
never leave knife like this open:

More update to follow.

Edit: also part of my emer medicine was a spray bottle full of distilled water with silica and growers recharge mix top feed. silica for the roots and recharge for the soil web.. The old lambsquarter is doing good, so I dunno.

Re: KelticBlue's 2017 - Soil - Ace Seeds Pure Pakistan Chitral Kush x Kali China Yunn

The overview of the Zammy-D
It looks good above the soil. I really dont know much about how the stem should look just below the soil, the E-box reservoir is full and now it I worry the soil is too moist. any who on with the show.

The ruler is out, wide leaf and stout plant
CIMG9607.jpg

Barely touching 3 inch tall and ? 4 nodes ?
CIMG9608.jpg

Female looking growth, please let me see this one through harvest with no issues:Namaste:
CIMG96101.jpg

The insides are starting to open up with a bit of space between nodes, not much. It got 1 hour of far red at lights out with 15 min of red after the COBs went dark.
CIMG9613.jpg

Gonna wait a week before i train the top, I hope it is not too late.
I go south for holidays next week for a week then 2 days work then south again for ~10 days to vacation and drive my cool cats back up north.

I am sure the plants will do betteR without me poking and prodding.

Re: KelticBlue's 2017 - Soil - Ace Seeds Pure Pakistan Chitral Kush x Kali China Yunn

So the far red seems to be good for the side plant my ace x CannaBioGen home cross.
This one could show purple, its mother did.
It got a feeding this morning bubbled overnight of my homemade seaweed water with growers recharge and ground amaranth meal and to sweeten the deal a drop of local soil. I tried to do a less is more with the feed. the tips of this baby will brown easy. I also see a potassium def or somethin in a leaf or two, prolly hurting my yield already.

here is a look from outside soil top level. The earthbox to the left. The big black plastic bag on the right is my plant nanny water bottle ceramic spike. I keep the companion plants growing in this container to keep life in the soil, I just trim them back.
CIMG96341.jpg

Deficiency and leaf damage on the leaf in the forground
CIMG9615.jpg

something is munching on the leafs and leaves but i am not bothered, i am in a live and let live mood today :peace:
CIMG9617.jpg

some growth and stretch overnight, yay :cheertwo:
CIMG9616.jpg

Gimme a couple of good buds baby please!
CIMG9618.jpg

Loose Lucy is my delight
She comes running and we ball all night
CIMG96191.jpg
Round and round and round and round
Don't take much to get me on the ground
CIMG9620.jpg
She's my yo-yo, I'm her string
Listen to the birds on the hot wire sing
CIMG9622.jpg
Singing yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Singing thank you, for a real good time

Re: KelticBlue's 2017 - Soil - Ace Seeds Pure Pakistan Chitral Kush x Kali China Yunn

I think that might be signs it's beginning to dampen off, which would be really bad. Usually happens when the soil is kept too moist. I've seen a few people with the earth-box covers having this issue too. I swear I was reading you mentioning using chamomile tea to prevent damping off though. That's the only thing I can think of. Not that I've seen it more than once or twice myself though so I could be wrong.

Re: KelticBlue's 2017 - Soil - Ace Seeds Pure Pakistan Chitral Kush x Kali China Yunn

It looks too old to damp-off. But it looks like too moist soil for sure. plant is more than 2 weeks old. I do use Chamomile tea. I like.
Soil is moist.
This is troublesome since the RH is stuck in the thirties day and night.
Gonna ride it out and let it dry best it can. I worry the water in the reservoir is gonna stale maybe causing fungus or whatnot, I cannot think of the word.
I might run a air stone in there tonight, ya gonna do that now.
Thanks Fert! :ciao:

Re: KelticBlue's 2017 - Soil - Ace Seeds Pure Pakistan Chitral Kush x Kali China Yunn

Quick update before i blast off for the new year.

everybods is growing good I wish the Zamal-d has a stronger stem but all else is good.

Here is the Ace x CannaBioGen from my seed creation. The mother had the purples but nothing so far on this one. It is feed and watered for the week.

Got some stretch!
CIMG9639.jpg

Lots off off shoots and what nots.
Here is the top

Re: KelticBlue's 2017 - Soil - Ace Seeds Pure Pakistan Chitral Kush x Kali China Yunn

The Zammy-D.
Soil is still way moist, I have the mulch cover lifted for air flow, the RH is in the thirties I am going to re set it tomorrow for better or worse as i go away for at least a week..

The over view busshy and stout
CIMG9649.jpg

Something of a side view barely 3 inches tall
CIMG9653.jpg

A look in near the top node
CIMG9650.jpg

No pistil yet but it is a fem seed. Far red is on for the 30min at the end of lights on. Far red for maybe 15 min after lights out.
CIMG9651.jpg

The is a look at the main stem at soil level. It is hard to get in ther with alll the busshy-ness.
CIMG96521.jpg

I found this slime mold growing on decaying plant matter in the soil. My initial research show it to be harmless. I dunno.
CIMG9636.jpg

That is all i got happy Daze to all and to all a good nite! :xmas:
