So the Blue Thai and Runtz Punch have both cured for a minimum amount of time. Both were smooth and tasty as soon as they dried. They both had very powerful scents and tastes before the cure but it was something I would describe as general. The individual taste and smells were not pronounced, it was all just really strong. Now that they’ve cured I’m picking up on the individual tastes and smells.

The runtz punch has a fruity flavor and smell with a skunky earthy undertone in both its smell and taste. Incredibly smooth, and you can feel it roll over the brain. I remember reading somewhere that holding the smoke in doesn’t get you any higher. I’m still on the fence about that because I definitely get much more baked and can feel the smoke hit the brain much more when I hold my hits. Makes me think I misread something. The high is smooth, clear, and up.

The blue Thai is insane. Acrid is a decent word except it’s not unpleasant. If I didn’t like cannabis it would be extremely unpleasant because there is no mistaking the smell. It’s a very skunky smell that can fill the entire house just from rolling a joint, I don’t even need to smoke it to stink up the house. The taste is less skunky with a hint of honey oil. The high is one of my favorites. It’s a real calm, relaxing high that makes you feel like the air around you is also high. I’ve also seen this feeling described as feeling like you’re under water. The high hangs out around my temples and through my body, one of my favorites.
Good smoke report!

+104

I believe she is in fact beginning to give. The drought has really set in and her leaves are wilted more than they’ve been the entire grow. Some areas look like resin has bursted out and soaked the area, hiding the trichomes.

Half the hairs are crinkled in and stuck in a patch of trichomes, the other hairs are still falling. Most have shriveled but there’s still a chunk of wispy left. Probably a handful more days. Wouldn’t be surprised if things went quickly and I was harvesting some time this week. I’ll likely start trimming the fan leaves off and do the majority of my trimming before I chop it.

There’s also a shot of the roots that were once just tiny strings, which makes the bonsai seem much more possible, and likely much simpler than I imagine it to be. Also a shot of the color still left in the leaves of the buds even though everything else is pretty much done for.

“For susceptible individuals, marijuana use can lead to psychosis” Surasky added. "If you have an underlying mental health issue like bipolar disorder, it's been shown to increase the chance that you're going to have a manic or severely depressive episode, which could be a life-threatening situation for certain people.”

I really dislike reading stuff like this, especially because it’s from an article that’s talking about gen Z cutting alcohol consumption. They made it seem throughout the article that Gen Z is just trading one unhealthy substance (alcohol) for another (cannabis). Which by itself is a completely ignorant, and uneducated viewpoint, never mind the insane destruction alcohol has wrought on our species.

I’ll leave the toxic drug of alcohol alone in this argument and go in on the quote itself. If you’ve been following me or have engaged with me you likely know I have a few mental health battles myself. First, “can cause psychosis” is such a weak argument. Every one of the studies they’ve done on this has produced incomplete or inaccurate information. Controls were poor and a lot of the data is based on self reporting, which is ridiculously flawed.

That’s a recipe for outlandish claims like “can cause psychosis”. Most people don’t understand their mental health problems to begin with so it’s very easy to be going through a mental health episode without realizing it. This episode could easily lead to someone trying something new or taking risks they wouldn’t otherwise. In this state of mind you don’t know there’s mental problems, but you do know that you tried cannabis and then you went nuts, not realizing you already were going nuts and cannabis slowed you down enough to realize it.

You see how easy it is to just make absurd stuff up and connect it? I’m not even being paid by big tobacco/pharma either, imagine if they were paying me, what I could come up with.

Next, and the part that really grates me. I have Bi polar disorder. In fact, I’m type 1 which means I’m a danger to others more than myself since I go manic and don’t experience depression as heavily as other types and minds. The only times I’ve ever gone manic were when alcohol was involved, or a lack of sleep occurred. Neither of those things are cannabis use.

Cannabis use is one of the few things that actually does prevent me from falling into mania. Maintaining good sleep and sleep hygiene is key to keeping mania down, and cannabis is the only thing I’ve come across that actually helps me have a restful sleep. So in direct contradiction to this article, cannabis in fact doesn’t cause me psychosis, or make my Bi polar disorder worse.

Pharmaceuticals and alcohol cause psychosis and mania in me, not cannabis. If it weren’t for cannabis I likely would’ve been imprisoned or worse, all while following the doctors orders.

That's plenty to juggle! Everyone's different Keefka. I'm glad you have yourself on constant inner watch and have the tools to keep afloat!

That's plenty to juggle!

Thankfully it’s just a matter of my brain working differently. This means I can still adapt to any situation like most humans. You get used to it and it just becomes nature.

Everyone's different Keefka.

This is the point I was round about making. You can’t sit there with a straight face and tell me cannabis is going to do things to me that alcohol won’t when I have experienced it myself.

I'm glad you have yourself on constant inner watch and have the tools to keep afloat!

Sleep.. For everyone reading.. If you or those you love are struggling, check the sleep quality and patterns. I was a literal super villain, doing 145 down I75 in the middle of Detroit, turns out I just needed a few more hours of sleep. I scoffed at the idea that sleep had such control over my mind, but within days of getting high quality sleep I was able to shake the mania.

I think the cannabis laws are borderline criminal, especially as it relates to our vets. You hear all the time "anything for our vets." Well except for access to a treatment that actually works for many of them whether pain, ptsd, sleep issues, etc.

Instead we'll "protect them from themselves" by forcing them to take a cocktail of ineffective psychotic meds and make them forfeit their benefits if they dare to try something that actually works.

It’s pretty sad the amount of veterans you see in the different programs and what they’re going through.

I did a 90 day in residence PTSD Substance abuse program at the VA in Cleveland. It’s basically rehab with a focus on combat related PTSD and how it fuels substance abuse.

This program was in a place colloquially referred to as “The dom”. The dom was also where veterans transitioning out of prison go, as well as a whole bunch of the homeless and addicted veterans in the area. It was viewed as a premier facility.

The food was awful. The worst stuff I’ve ever seen, and I was in the Army for almost a decade. They were grateful to have a hot meal. They were treated like children. They were thankful to be warm and dry. Many had nothing more than the clothes they had on. Still trying to make things work. Veterans happy they’re being given the absolute bare minimum for survival. It’s shameful.

You can see how the system has damaged them so horrifically emotionally, the physical wounds are nothing. Then on top of all of this, they’re given endless amounts of drugs that do nothing more than numb them up or knock them out. The shit I’ve seen and heard in med lines is ridiculous.

Some VAs are better than others and there is no real standard of care. My doctors are cool and think if cannabis is beneficial for me then I should use it. They can’t recommend it since the VA is federal but they also don’t threaten me with a loss of benefits like they do in other states.

I could keep going but we all know how hard veterans have been screwed. It is what it is. I have hope that things will change and there’s signs of it happening so we’ll see

They're quite efficient at preparing people (physically) for combat & outfitting as many as need outfitting for battle. They're hyper organized about strategies & have weapons with extraordinary capabilities & spend billions upon billions to plan, prepare & execute. When your stint is up, a thank you for your service, & a pat on the back just ain't enough, is it? No way a person could ever mentally prepare themselves for war & no way one could come out of it unchanged. Combat vets should have the same insurance plan that congress has & it should be free. But that would take money out of the pockets of the few who reap great financial profits from war & live the good life while good men & women like you live with burdens most of them could never imagine. I suppose the VA itself isn't really at fault. It's the government that spends those afore mentioned billions who should be just as efficient at seeing to the needs of vets as they are at sending them into war. OK, I'll end my rant now.
Sorry you've been let down like that...

It begins.. Today I prep the solo cups and reset the room. I will fill the solo cups with the mixed up seedling soil that has been “cooking” in the soil room. The recipe for that mix is a few posts back, I’ll probably cover it again after I plant.

I will add the seedling mix to the solo cups leaving about an inch of space from the top. I am either not going to mulch the solos or just use very little. The mulch didn’t seem to make a big difference in the solos last round and wound up being a hassle when it came time for transplant.

I’ve been debating whether or not to soak the soil in voodoo juice. It’s pure bacteria/microbes and the plants absolutely loved it last time. Maybe one or two cups.. we’ll see, I almost always call audibles mid process 😂

I won’t bother adding myco until I plant the seeds. The mix comes with a charge already and it’s pretty useless stuff until roots appear on the scene.

The cups will get placed in the room to acclimate and on Friday I will plant the seeds.

Resetting the room consists of putting everything back into position and making sure everything is wiped down and cleaned. When bloom happens I hang lots of clips, hooks, support lines, etc. and move my fans around, so the room has a lot of extra stuff it doesn’t need for veg and 5 fans in flower position. Since it’s no longer winter I’ll be able to push the walls out and create a 6x6-7x7 area to move around in. This will let me access my 5x5 flowering area from all angles. I’ll mark the floors where the pots should sit for best light distribution and get my temporary table setup to keep my plant tops 24-32 inches from my light until mid flower.

As always I’ll post pics and a recap of everything once I’ve finished.
Okay! Now might be a good time for me to stop lurking. I got through the beginning of your journal and have been anxiously awaiting the seed drop. I've never waded through 11 pages of journal before the seeds were dropped, but I'll be damn if your journal wasn't chock-full of interesting info. A fun , informative read it was!

I've often thought of trying LOS but can never seem to get it in gear. I seem to always have open questions remaining no matter how much reading I do. Well, your first 10 pages voids that excuse. I now feel like I've got the complete picture of, at least, how to get the grow started. :thanks:

I'm still not sure I'll try it because I'm a senior and I don't like big, heavy pots. I've read many times that LOS needs lots of soil. What is the smallest sized pot I can use for a successful LOS grow?

I hope you don't mind if I hang around to see how this goes. I'm going to skip some pages after the seeds emerge, but until then I'll be hanging on every word.

Oh, and I like to laugh and I got quite a few good ones in while reading some of the banter here! But the biggest laugh I got was from something you wrote that was not intended to be funny (at least I don't think it was).

Once I am officially mixed up, I will breakdown each of the amendments I chose and why I chose them. If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to ask them
I would never pose a question to an "officially mixed up" grower. Though I know that's not how you meant it, wording is important! 😁

Looking forward!

😂 That was my fault for launching the journal before I was ready to drop. I wanted to get every aspect of the process, including sourcing and mixing the ingredients though so it was a necessary evil. Thanks for sticking it out though!

It’s daunting at first. Just establishing a mix alone is a lot of reading, not to mention the work. I’m undecided as to whether prior growing experience is a bonus or harmful when learning LOS. A lot of stuff that applies to other methods doesn’t apply here and we do quite a few things that wouldn’t make sense in any other grow. It can all be a bit much.

I'm still not sure I'll try it because I'm a senior and I don't like big, heavy pots. I've read many times that LOS needs lots of soil. What is the smallest sized pot I can use for a successful LOS grow?

You can go as low as 2-3 gallon containers if you like/prefer. One of the OGs called The Rev specifically tuned his method for 2-3 gallon containers. His True Living Organics books lay it all out but essentially you’re just going to be using more powerful spikes of dry nutrients the smaller your container is. If you clone then that’s even better for the system.

hope you don't mind if I hang around to see how this goes. I'm going to skip some pages after the seeds emerge, but until then I'll be hanging on every word.

I don’t mind at all! I’m the worst offender when it comes to going off topic so you’ll be just fine 😂 Any questions you have feel free to ask! If you haven’t checked out @Gee64 journal the Gee Spot, stop in there as well. Gee is the Druid that set me on this path, here’s the link:

I have a habit of wording things awkwardly, you should see how that plays out in person 🤣

I missed chopping time today. I like to get them about 2 hours before lights come on so the trichomes are near their fullest and most numerous. So I have an alarm set for tomorrow and will chop them. That makes today +108.. Lots of trichomes, lots of resin, the majority of hairs are down, the buds look ugly, and wet. Should be a great smoke.

lol so apparently Chinese missiles and military are the exact same quality as the Chinese crap they try to pass off in the commercial sector. Corruption is so bad there that their missiles are filled with water instead of fuel and their missile silos don’t have the parts needed to actually open the lid and launch said missiles. So they have this big, bad missile force that can’t even launch missiles. They have an Army that has never fought a modern war with modern weapons. Their vehicles and weapons are all janky and near worthless. They need to use fishing boats for their navy. It’s all one big smoke and mirror show.

For years I thought Russia and China were actually a premier, professional fighting force. I worried my kids would eventually have to go to war with them. Turns out, like everything else Russian and Chinese, it was all one big paper tiger, and they’re actually nearly worthless adversaries that can only really pick on those weaker than them because corruption is so bad it makes us look like saints.

This makes me feel much more optimistic for my kids. China and Russia will always be a joke, and any nation that actually has a chance of harming us is already an ally. This means I can stop worrying about that part of my kids future, which is a great way to start harvest day!
