Aren't the calyxes green too? Don't we cure to get rid of the leftover chlorophyll in the flowers we're keeping? And how do you get the kief out of the parts of the flower that would never touch the screen without grinding them onto the screen?

First you tell us about the goodness of kief and then you toss half a plant (fluffy or not) that surely was loaded with trichomes? That's just crazy!

1. Yes. And yes. And unfortunately, the third answer reveals the shortcomings of the screen approach. You simply can’t get them all. Not without getting green, and the harder you try the more you get. It’s impossible. Even an overnight in the freezer, although certainly releasing more, leaves a lot on the table. Thus - dry ice. The screen retires after my move. If you saw the bags I’ve already kiefed that are now edibles material, you’d see with your bare eyes that there’s still trichs on it. Everywhere! Just can’t get it. Even if you don’t care at all about green and just wanna see, try it. If you can get them all using the screen you’re a better man than I.
2. If you saw the “buds” I tossed you might feel differently. Shoulda showed them. They were brown and crispy to the core. Zero sugars. No kief to be had outside and no bud on the inside to hold any either, and I don’t own a press yet. Plus it felt good to throw the shit away. Lmao!
3. Yes!!! I can’t wait to run my first batch!!!

Maybe - as of now every bud looks identical on the outside. They all have red hairs that need to curl in and tighten up. To my eye that’s only a couple days away. So we’ll see. I have no problem with that if so. But I suspect they’ll all “tighten up” together, and I’m not taking any until they do. These buds are gorgeous and super colorful - the bud itself is almost completely purple, I couldn’t believe the tiny wet trim check I did. And it was a bottom little guy, so I know it’s all that colorful. So no way am I screwing up by taking them too early. I’d rather have more amber than I prefer and have the buds be actually done.

15-20 ton, 4” plates, individually heat controlled, with digital output so I can read the pressure too. Obviously not one of the hand turn or pump a metal bar to get pressure ones.

Given your production I would suggest focus on the plate size - saw a 7” one I think? The tonnage seems more rhan enough at that level - think mine is only 4T?

They are literally just carjacks, (they don't take the stickers off!) some solid metal blocks turned into elements with a thermostat and Raspberry Pii type controller. Very very basic so don’t overspend.

I know, it’s a chair thing. Not sure I could jack a car up now or not, never tried that. But 7” plates? Wow, haven’t come across that yet. Thing is, it’s about my friends and what they want. I would never smoke the end press product enough to justify a high output situation. In Florida I have few friends so it’s been easy to not have one. But I also see what others here in the forum output using just 4s (that’s where I got it from, can’t remember who’s thread, sorry), and it’s tons. Least to my eye. More than I’d ever smoke I’ve seen people get from one plants worth of crap! So idk. But the decision is not a year away - more like months. I should be moved in to a finished apartment and garage, and have all my infrastructure set up, and have started a huge (for me, 6 tents, 3 of which are 5x5s) grow, by Xmas. I’d want a press for that harvest, as I have many friends in PA awaiting my return.

I vacillated between the heart and the thank you emoji on this @InTheShed. I’ve seen a decent glimpse of your life outside of weed (the ones you show us, like taking your son and stuff), and I know that you are quite in tune with life/weed balance. I try to be too normally. Florida and knowing literally nobody when I got here put a cramp in that balance for me. All I’ve done is grow and play my bass. Alone! That’s not balance. So thanks so much - this is a big real life thing for me and I appreciate it.

When that one was delivered I was wowed by how small it was!

The 7” thing I saw in an Instagram advert just last week. Might have been a GoFundMe type thing but makes sense to me - but the micron bags for sale are pretty much all 4” so consumables might be an issue.

As far as I know they never need be cleaned since the plates are protected by the parchment paper. And save the pucks after squishing to dunk in Everclear.
